Chapter 33 - Chapter 32-Broken Legacy

Lunch at Iruka's house was pure, noisy bliss.

The little home, modest but warm, overflowed with laughter and the clatter of dishes.Naruto, Kiba, Hinata, Shino, Kurenai, and Iruka sat around the small table, plates piled high.

The smell of roasted meats, seared vegetables, and Iruka's signature miso broth filled the air — thick, rich, almost divine.

"ALL HAIL THE GOD OF FOOD!"Kiba and Naruto bellowed together, pounding fists on the table like worshippers before an altar.

Hinata giggled behind trembling fingers.Shino, methodical as ever, simply muttered, "Excellent seasoning structure," with the gravity of a final judgment.

Kurenai, usually graceful and reserved, smiled like a girl half her age, savoring every bite like treasure.

Inside Naruto's mindscape, a familiar, loving voice rang out.

"Hey, Naruto!"Kushina's voice bubbled with excitement. "Is Iruka-kun's cooking really that good? I remember Teuchi's ramen being the best thing ever!"

Naruto, stuffing his face until his cheeks puffed out like balloons, mentally roared back,

"Best cook ever, dattebayo! Iruka-sensei's food is the greatest that's ever stepped on this land!"

Kushina gasped, hand clutching at her heart in melodramatic awe.Minato chuckled warmly, and even Kurama rumbled from his corner:

"Hmph. I admit... the human's food smells better than most of this cursed world's offerings."

Naruto beamed, eyes shining as he tackled a third helping.Iruka laughed, setting yet another plate before him.

"Slow down, Naruto," Iruka said, amused. "There's more — you don't need to die eating."

"I CAN'T HELP IT!" Naruto howled, voice muffled through food."This is heaven!!"

Kiba threw himself at Iruka's legs, arms clinging like a puppy."Iruka-sensei! Make me your disciple! Teach me the secret arts of food, O Great Master!"

"I second that!" Naruto cheered.

Even Shino nodded gravely."I would attend... culinary lessons."

Kurenai nearly doubled over laughing."If you're not careful, Iruka, you'll start a religion."

Iruka laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck —but inside, a soft, precious warmth bloomed.

Family.He had found family.

But peace was not the fate waiting at the Hokage Tower.

The Hokage Office was heavy with silence. The walls themselves seemed to breathe, alive with tension.

Sarutobi Hiruzen sat behind his desk, the Will of Fire crackling around him, invisible but undeniable.

Before him stood Jiraiya and Tsunade — two legends, two failures.

The door creaked open again.Jiraiya and Tsunade stepped inside Iruka's home earlier, but had been summoned now — to this.To judgment.

"Sensei," Jiraiya said, smiling . "It's been a while."

No warmth answered him.

"Tsunade," Hiruzen said, voice as sharp as frost, "State your business. Quickly."

Tsunade folded her arms."Tch. I don't have any. I'm just here because this idiot dragged me."

"You may leave whenever you want," Hiruzen said, not even blinking.

Tsunade rolled her eyes and turned slightly to go —and the room changed.

Hiruzen released his killing intent.

It slammed into them like a collapsing mountain.

The air grew thick, suffocating. The floor beneath Tsunade's feet cracked.Even Jiraiya, hardened by wars and death, took a step back, cold sweat beading at his brow.

"You can leave," Hiruzen repeated, voice low, deadly, "but if you do, Tsunade...you will be branded a missing-nin."

His voice dropped further, a whisper of pure iron.

"Kill on sight."

"Sensei, that's too far!" Jiraiya barked, anger flashing.

"Is it?" Hiruzen cut him off sharply."All I see before me is a woman who abandoned her name, her duties, her village — wallowing in grief while spitting on the honor her ancestors fought and bled for."

"Too far?"Hiruzen stood now — and it was not a tired old man who rose, but the Hokage of legends.

"You speak of destiny. Of 'the Chosen One.'But have you even once checked on Naruto? The boy you swore to watch over?As of this moment, Jiraiya — you are no longer his guardian."

Jiraiya's mouth opened in disbelief."You can't just—"

"I can," Hiruzen cut him off."And I will."

The words slammed into Jiraiya like hammer blows.

"And you," Hiruzen turned to Tsunade, voice rough with betrayal.

"You cry about having no family. But you had Kushina! You had Naruto! You carried Uzumaki blood — you carried Senju blood! And you spat on it!"

Tsunade's fists tightened. Her knuckles turned white.

"You abandoned the Senju name!"Hiruzen's voice grew harsher, each word slicing open old wounds.

"You — the princess of the Senju — you ordered your own clan to forsake their heritage! You destroyed your own clan's memory! You were supposed to be its leader, its heart — and instead, you became its shame!"

Tsunade opened her mouth — but no words would come.

"You think you can still use Uzumaki and Senju jutsu?!"Hiruzen thundered.

"You wield the Thousand Healing Seal — a technique created by Mito Uzumaki, not you!Your 'super strength'? Senju taijutsu, passed down through generations of warriors who would weep to see you now!"

The door opened quietly behind them.

Hiruzen didn't break his glare.

"Bring in Shizune Kato."

A moment later, Shizune entered the room, cautious but upright.

"Tell me, Shizune," Hiruzen said, voice suddenly softer — deadly quiet."You carry the Kato name. Would you abandon it?"

Shizune stared, eyes wide. She shook her head fiercely.

"No, Hokage-sama! I would never! The Kato name is all I have left — it's my pride!"

Hiruzen smiled — but it was the saddest smile anyone had ever seen.

"Good," he said. "Your ancestors would be proud."

He turned, slowly, back to Tsunade.

"See, Tsunade? That is pride. That is loyalty. That is what it means to carry the blood of a family."

He gestured to Shizune.

"From today onward, Shizune Kato will inherit every scroll, technique, and treasure her family left behind."

Shizune bowed deeply, tears of gratitude in her eyes.

"Thank you, Hokage-sama."

She left, quietly, proudly.

The silence afterward was crushing.

"And you," Hiruzen said, voice lower now, crueler, "you abandoned your heritage the moment it hurt too much."

He stared down at Tsunade like a mountain staring down at a fallen pebble.

Tsunade trembled.

"You abandoned the Senju name," Hiruzen continued mercilessly."You abandoned your Uzumaki heritage. You used their strength but spat on their graves."

"You are not worthy of carrying either name. You are not a Senju. You are not an Uzumaki."

The words, heavy as the final nail in a coffin, fell.

"You are nothing."

Tsunade gasped — and for the first time in decades, her legs gave out.

She fell to her knees, tears sliding silently down her cheeks.

"And you, Jiraiya," Hiruzen said coldly, "You are no better. You abandoned not a name, but a boy.The last legacy of your own student. Your duty as a ninja"

"You both stand here now, not as heroes — but as traitors to your own blood."

The room seemed to shrink around them.

"You will serve this village," Hiruzen commanded.

"No more gambling. No more running. No more excuses."

He slammed his staff against the floor.

"You will work — or you will leave. Those are your only choices."

The ancient fire behind his eyes — the Fire of Will — burned so brightly that neither Jiraiya nor Tsunade could meet his gaze.

For once, the Sannin — the Legendary Three — had no words.

Only shame.
