Xandria stares at Maltherion, her eyes focused on the tattoo that was etched on his chest. The words Maltherion had said still rang in her mind.
She was about to say something when Maltherion grabbed her hands carefully and left her towards the balcony of their room.
They both stood at the railing staring at the night sky. She could feel her heart beating against her rib cage. She kept on staring at the night sky, lost in her thoughts when she heard his voice from beside her.
"Would you like to fly?"
Xandria stared at him with shock. "How are we going to fly?" She giggled slightly. It sounded absurd.
"Do you trust me?" She heard Maltherion's voice again, this time it was close to her ear. She could feel his breath against her ear.
"Of course I trust you." She whispered back. Her breath stuck in her throat.
"I want you to jump." Those were the next words she heard from him.
She stared at him with shock and disbelief. "That's not possible. I'll die."
"Trust me Alexandria. I promise not to let you fall." Maltherion assured her.
She stared into his eyes. She tried to find an iota of lies in his eyes, but she found nothing.
Xandria took a deep breath and climbed onto the balcony railing, the night breeze swaying her night gown gently. She turned her head and saw Maltherion staring at her, his gaze fixed on her. The moment she saw him nod his head once, she let herself go.
Xandria could feel herself falling to the ground fast and there was nothing stopping her. She could feel her heart about to burst out of her ribcage with full force. When it felt like she was going to hit the ground, she closed her eyes, bracing herself for the fall, but it never came.
The moment Xandria fell down the balcony, Maltherion jumped down, a pair of dark, obsidian wings emerged from his back. It was gleaming like a pair of polished stones under the moonlight. He flapped the wings as he dived towards Xandria. The moment she was about to touch the ground, he wrapped his hands around her and flew upwards, towards the clouds.
Xandria kept her eyes shut, her face was pale from fear and the adrenaline that was rushing through her veins. She was too scared to open her eyes. When Xandria felt that she was going up instead of down, she slowly opened her eyes only to be met with the gleaming red eyes of Maltherion, who had a smile etched on his face.
She stared at him in shock, her mind trying to comprehend what was going on. She heard the occasional flapping of wings, the moment she looked behind him and saw the dark wings that had emerged from his back, she was short of words.
Her mouth opened and closed, it seemed like she wanted to say something but no words were coming out.
"You.. you have wings?" She stared at him, and then at the wings again, her mind trying to wrap around what she was seeing.
"You are really a dragon... But how?" She sounded confused.
" It's part of my lineage. My mother was born of dragon blood." Maltherion explained as he landed swiftly on the ground.
Xandria was about to ask him more questions when her eyes took in their surrounding.
It was midnight, but the land they were in glowed like sunlight. Thousands of fire flies hovered around the field illuminating the whole place. Xandria stared at the field with amazement. She could not fathom the feeling that she felt. But it felt so magical.
The scent of flowers hovered in the air, Xandria could not help but smile as she stared at the jasmine flowers that grew in the field. The smell of the flowers made her remember home, before Anaya and Elara turned evil. Before the prophesy started coming to pass.
She walked through the pathway, leading to the huge fountain that stood in the middle of the field. It glowed like the moonlight, the water glowing magically against the fireflies that flew around it. The water seemed to flow down the fountain, but there was no puddle. It seemed like the water just disappeared.
Xandria stretched out her hands and touched the water that flowed out of the fountain, it felt soft, and warm. She could not hide the excitement that she felt within.
"Why did you bring me here?" Xandria murmured, loud enough for Maltherion to hear as she turned around to face him.
Maltherion wrapped his hands around her waist as he pulled her closer to him, "I want to show you something," he held her waist with one hand as he led her through the pathway of the field, leading her deeper into the field where trees stood tall and strong.
Xandria looked back and saw that his wings had already retracted into his back. " How did you do that?" She whispered, her eyes filled with wonder.
" It's part of having a dragon bloodline." Maltherion chuckled softly as he tightened his hold on her waist a little.
Xandria gasped the moment they stepped past the trees and stood at the other end of the field. She stared at the large flowing stream that seemed to have stopped in time. It reflected the moonlight, making the water glow in that silver light. The fire flies that hovered around the stream seemed to disappear gradually, leaving only the light coming from the moon to illuminate the place.
" This is beautiful." She whispered, as she looked around the surrounding, taking in the flowers that grew around the stream.
She felt a strong pair of hands wrap around her waist from behind, pulling her closer to the warmth coming from his body.
"Did the dragon in your dream say something?" Maltherion whispered in her ears.
Xandria held her breath, she could feel his soft breath on her sensitive neck, it made her feel hot.
" It said something about being bound, together." She whispered, her eyes closed the moment she felt Maltherion kiss her neck slowly.
" A dragon has only one mate. And you are my mate Xandria." He kissed the back of her ear, this time travelling up from her neck.
"I thought we were bound by the grand Gias," she breathed slowly, as his mouth travelled up her neck.
"We are bound by more than one thing my love. The Grand Gias chooses the Queen for the kingdom. But the Dragon bond chooses his mate. The one it will stay with forever. This is fate. But the bond of the dragon is not complete?"
Xandria tilted her head a bit, their lips were now a mere few inches away from each other.
She could feel his eyes on her, staring deep into her soul.
" How are we suppose to complete the bond of the dragon?" She whispered against his lips.
" I'm going seal it," he whispered. She could feel him coming closer, their lips almost touching.
"With what?" She stared at him, anticipating his next move.
"I'm going to seal it with a mark." Their lips finally collided, her hands wrapped around his neck and his hands wrapped around her waist. He lifted her up and wrapped her legs on his thighs, while his hands were still on her waist, keeping her from falling down.
