Chapter 48 - Forty-Eight: Visitors (Lena)

The sunlight slanted through the window like honey, warm and golden, kissing the walls and painting everything in soft gold. I blinked against the brightness, heart beating steady and strong, my muscles sore but no longer weak. Healing—faster than I should. Faster than any human should.

My hand flexed beneath the blanket, and I stared at it for a long moment. No tremble. No pain. Just strength. Quiet. Ready.

It had been three days since I woke up back at the estate. Three days of Dom's presence and watch over me after all the days before that when I'd been trapped in sleep. 

He'd left early this morning, begrudgingly, and had only really left because I'd insisted. Lucas had given me a thankful nod and disappeared back out the door. 

"Go," I'd told Dom. "I'll be right here in bed when you return. I'm going back to sleep anyway. Send in Sienna if you must, but really, it isn't necessary."
