The world was a haze, soft like the light that filtered through the cracks in my consciousness. My body was broken—aching, bruised, battered. Every inch of me screamed in agony, a symphony of pain that seemed to bleed into my very soul. I didn't know how long I'd been here. Days? Hours? Time didn't mean anything anymore.

And now, everything was different. Again.

Marcus had moved me.

I remembered the drag of chains across the floor, the clink of metal as he unshackled me from the damp stone wall, only to jab a needle into my arm before I could so much as flinch. A burning numbness had bloomed through my veins, swift and merciless. My vision blurred, my limbs turned to lead, and the world dissolved before I could protest.
