Chapter 142 - The Revenge of the Soul Tattoo Master

My expression suddenly changed, and I remembered the four brothers of the Zhao family.

Someone had merged the souls of the Zhao family's four brothers and tattooed them onto Shen Weiguo.

But when I fought alongside Zhan Ling that day, we destroyed their souls.

Two of them were even pierced through the skull by the Demon Hunter arrows, so it's impossible for any remnants of their souls to remain.

"You really don't know when to stop, do you? Now it's perfect—you can be a pair of ghostly lovers," I glared at the Qipao ghost.

She immediately started sobbing again.

While both the Little Foot Girl and the Qipao ghost were crying, the former's tears made her seem innocent and pitiful, evoking sympathy, whereas the latter just made people feel repulsed.

No wonder she was neglected when she was alive. It seems any normal man would find it unbearable to deal with her incessant crying.

If it weren't for the Zhao family's four brothers being involved, I wouldn't have interfered, even for the sake of Director Qian.

After all, there's a saying: "You can't save those who seek death."

I took a deep breath, suppressing my anger, and waved my hand to send the Qipao ghost back into the tattoo on Shen Weiguo's chest.

Just seeing her was enough to annoy me.

Director Qian was startled by my words and grabbed my hand, saying, "Li Yang, Weiguo isn't just my student, I've always considered him like my own son. You can't just watch him suffer!"

I calmed myself and said, "Don't worry, Old Director, this is partly my fault. Weiguo is a victim too, I'll definitely handle this."

Shen Weiguo's rash actions allowed the Soul Tattoo Master to take advantage of the situation, and it was actually a blessing for me that it blocked a disaster.

Huang Jiu said, "This is revenge. The person is probably already gone, and I don't understand much about Soul Tattoos. How about we call Hu Wenhui to take a look?"

Hu Wenhui was busy preparing to go to the Shennongjia area, and I knew he wouldn't be available. Moreover, he wasn't exactly "my" person, so I couldn't just keep spinning him around like a top.

After hesitating for a while, I dialed Big Bo's number.

It hadn't been long since the incident with the Su family's ancestral tomb, and I figured the Demon Hunters were still watching the city.

The phone rang twice before it was picked up. Zhan Ling's voice was unmistakable as she chuckled twice and asked, "Li Yang, little brother, miss me?"

Even through the phone, I could imagine her jumping up and down.

I asked, "Zhan Ling, do you have time now?"

She laughed, "Time? Well, just like... you know, if you squeeze a little, there's always some left."

If she had said this yesterday, I wouldn't have understood.

But last night, when I was checking Xiao Cui's heartbeat, I secretly squeezed her a bit too, and that was... profound.

Thinking of some unflattering images, my face flushed slightly, and I quickly said, "I'm in a bit of a situation. It's related to the Zhao family's four brothers. Can you come to the Provincial Museum?"

As soon as she heard the Zhao family brothers were involved, Zhan Ling became serious and said, "I'm on my way," before hanging up.

I put away my phone, closed the windows, and drew the curtains.

Soul tattoos are different from possession. When something is tattooed onto the body, it becomes part of the person.

Shen Weiguo wasn't from the Zhao family, so he couldn't bear the tattoo of a soul. As the negative energy started to erode him, his body would begin to deteriorate.

If you encounter someone on a hot day wrapped up tightly, chances are they have a soul tattoo on them.

Even ordinary tattoos aren't something that can be done carelessly.

Street thugs like to show off tattoos of Guan Gong, dragons, and the like on their bare shoulders, not just to show off but because they have heavy negative energy. They subconsciously want to expose their bodies.

Moreover, people who weren't originally violent will change their personalities and become irritable once they get these kinds of tattoos.

More than half an hour later, Zhan Ling called. I went out to meet her with Director Qian.

On the way back, I quickly explained the situation. After listening, Zhan Ling furrowed her brows and said, "We broke apart the Zhao family's four brothers' souls. How could their spiritual energy still be around?"

If I could explain that clearly, I wouldn't have needed to call her.

After all, dealing with these matters is like treating an illness: if you understand the cause and effect, 90% of the time, you can find a solution.

Zhan Ling examined the tattoo on Shen Weiguo's chest, gently touched it, and her brows gradually furrowed. "This is the soul energy from a Life Lamp. It's weak, but the negative energy is so strong that it could kill him."

The Life Lamp is used by major sects to monitor the life and death of their disciples. As long as there's a trace of soul energy left in the lamp, the lamp will go out when something happens to the person.

Then the people in the sect can use the remaining soul energy to locate the incident and find the culprit.

Only those with the Life Lamp can see it. Even the most powerful person can't tell, so it's all based on guesswork.

I hadn't considered this possibility at the time, but now I realized it left a hidden danger.

Huang Jiu said, "If that's the case, we just need to find the Life Lamp of the Zhao family's four brothers."

I replied, "The Zhao family's four brothers are dead. Even if the Life Lamp was left behind, it wouldn't help. Since the other side is taking revenge this way, they wouldn't leave it behind."

Huang Jiu said, "Then there's only one method left: tattoo your soul onto Shen Weiguo and kill them once again."

I glared at Huang Jiu. It immediately understood and quickly shut its mouth.

What Huang Jiu suggested was exactly what the Zhao family wanted to see.

They were prepared for this. If I went in, the outcome would be grim.

It's not that I'm selfish, but I won't take that risk for Shen Weiguo.

If something happens to me, what will Xiao Cui do?

Zhan Ling looked at the tattoo on Shen Weiguo's chest again and said, "His little lover might be able to help!"

"The Qipao ghost?"

"Forget her!"

It's not that I look down on the Qipao ghost, but I really don't trust her. If she gets involved, it'll probably just make things worse.

Seeing that I didn't want to go into Shen Weiguo's body and I didn't trust the Qipao ghost, Zhan Ling suggested, "Then the only option is to have Mr. Jiang intervene. But he charges quite a lot—one million per session."

I looked at Director Qian.

If this could be resolved with money, I'd rather not take any risks.

Plus, this wasn't my money to begin with.

But a million isn't a small amount, so I waited for Director Qian to speak.

Director Qian's face showed difficulty, and he said reluctantly, "The Wei family is well-off, but this matter... you'll have to ask him. I'm just an old man, and I can't come up with that much money on the spot."

If it were someone else, I'd just say, "You say he's like a son, but you can't even spare a million."

But he's Director Qian, and I truly believe that if he could, he'd give everything without hesitation.

I once met someone who said that after falling ill, he realized he couldn't make money anymore, and to his wife, he wasn't even a good man.

That was such a sad and heartbreaking thing to hear.

I didn't want to make Director Qian feel uncomfortable, so I decided to temporarily suppress the negative energy in Shen Weiguo's body using Dao Qi and let him figure things out on his own. This would also teach him a lesson.
