Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: I'll Poison You Sooner or Later!

The night was deep, and the forest echoed with the continuous roars of Magical Beasts.

After finishing their meal, inside the small tent, Xiao Yi Xian retrieved a colorful pill from her storage ring. She tossed it into her rosy lips before lying down on a small bed nearby.

This was a Poison Pill that Xiao Bai had refined for her using the formula from the Seven-Colored Poison Codex. Thanks to the purification process of an Alchemist, the pill's medicinal properties were more refined, allowing for faster absorption. Moreover, high-grade poisons could be incorporated into it, and with the precise control of an Alchemist's perception, the potency was regulated to perfection—far better than the mixtures she could prepare herself.

Moments later, strange purple patterns began to appear on her delicate face, and her entire body was enveloped in a multicolored mist. Instantly, the small tent filled with a swirling rainbow-colored haze. If a Dou Shi were to step inside at this moment and inhale the mist, they would faint on the spot—soon after, they would die.

Outside, Xiao Bai sat by the campfire, quietly sensing everything happening inside the tent.

He had wanted to stay with her, but the stubborn girl absolutely forbade him from entering while she was ingesting poison—even though she knew he wouldn't be affected.

She was afraid that he would see her looking ugly during the process. Even though she was fully aware that Xiao Bai's soul perception allowed him to clearly sense everything inside, as long as he wasn't physically near her, she could pretend he didn't know.

Faced with this ostrich-like mindset, Xiao Bai was speechless. However, after her repeated pleading, he eventually agreed not to enter. Still, while he kept his distance, he made sure to keep an eye on her condition.

At first, Xiao Yi Xian even refused to let him observe with his soul power, but this time, Xiao Bai stood firm. No amount of pouting, pleading, or feigned anger could sway him, so she eventually relented.

And so, Xiao Bai sat cross-legged outside, training, while keeping a thread of his mind focused on monitoring Xiao Yi Xian's condition inside.

As the night passed…The sky turned gray as dawn approached, the eastern horizon slowly lighting up.

Inside the tent, the colorful poison mist suddenly rushed toward Xiao Yi Xian's abdomen, as if summoned by some force. The thick mist gradually disappeared, absorbed into her body.

The purple patterns on her face slowly faded. Her long eyelashes trembled, and when her eyes opened, a strange multi-colored gleam flickered within them before vanishing.

"I passed out again, huh?" She murmured, rubbing her head with a delicate hand as the dazed look in her eyes cleared.

"If you're awake, hurry up and get out here! What are you still lazing around for?"

A cold voice rang out from outside, making Xiao Yi Xian suddenly want to punch the person responsible.

"This damn guy—he's like a completely different person as soon as morning comes!"

Last night, he had been gentle and considerate, but now? Gone. Vanished. In his place stood Xiao Bai the Demon King!

"One of these days, I swear I'll poison you!"

She clenched her small fists, shaking them angrily as she huffed in frustration. Then, with a light leap, she got out of bed and stepped outside.

"Poison me? With your measly Four-Star Dou Shi strength?" Xiao Bai glanced at her indifferently, his voice full of mockery. "I could stand here and let you poison me, and even if you exhausted all your poison-infused Dou Qi, it still wouldn't work."

Xiao Yi Xian gritted her teeth at his tone and expression. Even though she knew he was acting, she still felt utterly frustrated.

Give me back the gentle version of Xiao Bai!

This guy—when he was gentle, he could make her feel like the most cherished person in the world. But when he was being a pain, he made her want to punch his smug face into the ground!

"Given your recent progress, I've prepared a special meal for you today." Xiao Bai smirked. "You'll be fighting two Rank 2 Magical Beasts at once. Excited?"

"Excited my ass!"

Xiao Yi Xian rolled her eyes, clearly in no mood for his teasing. She walked over to the side, grabbed the breakfast he had prepared, and took a fierce bite, staring at him as if she wanted to bite him instead.

Xiao Bai pretended not to notice, treating it as her morning grumpiness—which was completely normal.

It wasn't that he wanted to torture her. Besides, with him around, there was no real danger.

Over time, this little girl had greatly improved her poisoning techniques against Magical Beasts. Thanks to the movement technique Xun'er had given her, which she was close to mastering, her combat style was now entirely different from when she first started.

Xiao Bai had even given her fighting style a name—"Kite Flow."

The strategy was simple: poison first upon contact, then keep moving, continuously applying poison. Even though Magical Beasts had thick skin and strong resistance, they couldn't withstand her repeated poison attacks. In the end, they would collapse mid-charge, falling before they could even reach her.

Because of this, Xiao Bai decided to increase the difficulty. This would help her gain more battle experience, speed up the absorption of the poisons in her body, and allow her cultivation to skyrocket.

As for whether this would accelerate the outbreak of her Calamity Poison Body, Xiao Bai wasn't too worried.

For one, her cultivation was still low. More importantly, he had already experimented with sealing techniques to suppress her Calamity Poison Body—and it worked.

Theoretically, her condition was temporarily controllable. As long as his cultivation remained higher than hers, he could keep her growth in check, preventing a loss of control that could lead to an outbreak.

Of course, the best solution would be to fully suppress it through a Poison Pill, but he lacked the necessary materials, timing, or strength to do so right now. He would have to wait.

If all else failed, Xun'er was always a backup option.

"I wonder how she's doing?"

Thinking about Xun'er, Xiao Bai shook his head. Originally, he had planned to bring both Xiao Yi Xian and Xun'er on this training trip. But after their family meeting, Xun'er suddenly announced she was going into seclusion.

Given her status as the heiress of the Gu Clan, Xiao Bai knew she had her own methods to advance her strength quickly. So, he didn't worry about her and only brought Xiao Yi Xian along.

"Let's go, you bastard!" After packing up, Xiao Yi Xian walked past him without even glancing his way.

Xiao Bai couldn't help but chuckle at her tragic-looking posture—as if she were heading off to battle to the death.

Sure, he was a little strict with her, but it wasn't like he was torturing her on purpose! Was this really necessary?

Meanwhile, deep within the Magical Beast Forest…

A few uninvited guests had arrived.

"Fairy Xue, it's just a Rank 2 Magical Beast. Don't worry! Once we find it, we'll beat it half to death, and then you can finish it off to complete the mission!"

A tall, burly man pounded his chest confidently as he spoke.

"That's right, Fairy Xue! As long as we don't kill it outright, you can deliver the final blow. The academy won't investigate, and you'll still get full contribution points!"

Another young man chimed in eagerly, his tone full of flattery.

Between the two men stood a beautiful young woman dressed in a snow-white fox-fur dress. She had a delicate oval-shaped face, and a sweet yet calm smile rested on her lips.

But if one looked closely, a hint of arrogance and vanity still flickered in her eyes.

"Then I'll have to thank both senior brothers." Her voice was soft and gentle, carrying a slight sense of aloofness.

The two men pretended not to notice and eagerly responded, "No need to thank us! No need at all! Once we enter the Inner Academy, we'd just appreciate it if Fairy Xue could put in a good word for us with Leader Liu!"
