Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: A Beautiful Dream, Shattered

Kael studied Amber's face carefully.

That's when he realized—something was off.

Sure, Amber had been prone to tears lately and often looked upset.

But even then, her eyes still shimmered with youthful innocence.

Yet now… the Amber in front of him had eyes full of exhaustion.

As if she had been through a lifetime of sorrow.

Kael's moment of softness vanished instantly.

This really was the Amber from the Life Simulation.

With the current Amber, he could still brush things off with "we've never met before."

But this Amber—this version who had shared an entire life with him, who'd even given birth to their child—

There was no excuse, no way to escape responsibility.

He absolutely couldn't let her believe he was Anders.

Kael slowly pulled his hand from Amber's grasp.

Her teary eyes looked at him in confusion, and with great effort, Kael spoke:

"Sorry… I don't understand what you're talking about.

I'm not Anders.

I'm a traveler from another world. I only arrived in Teyvat a few days ago.

My name… is Kael."

Amber stared at him, stunned.

"No… that's impossible…"

The dream shattered.

Her eyes flooded with despair.

"Ah!"

Suddenly, Amber gasped—realizing she was curled up in Kael's arms.

Her face flushed crimson.

"Wh-Why are you holding me?!"

Kael watched her expression shift from heartbreak, to confusion, and now to embarrassed panic.

That's when it hit him—

The real Amber was back.

And… she didn't remember a thing.

Kael quickly played dumb.

"I don't know either. I just woke up and found you lying on top of me. I was gonna ask you the same thing."

"I-I…"

Amber was flustered and completely taken in by the excuse.

She stammered, climbed off of him, and muttered under her breath.

Did she… like him so much that she sleepwalked into his arms?!

"I—I'm gonna wash up!!"

Watching Amber retreat in full-on panic, Kael let out a long sigh of relief.

Thank god.

Amber was innocent and naïve enough to fall for his lie.

But that terrifying moment—when he came face-to-face with the Life Simulation Amber—

It had left him drenched in cold sweat.

He seriously needed to move out of Amber's house.

Not only was he afraid that being around her too long would deepen her feelings…

Now, he had to worry about Amber from the Life Simulation popping up again.

Seeing that version of her cry like that…

It hurt. Bad.

His conscience was in agony.

——

Meanwhile, in the bathroom—

Amber stared at her beet-red reflection in the mirror.

She splashed cold water on her face over and over again—

Only after several rounds did the heat in her cheeks finally start to fade.

Waking up on top of the guy you like? So embarrassing!!

What kind of girl was she turning into?!

Sleepwalking just to cling onto Kael?!

As she fixed her hair and scolded herself—

Memories of last night's unusual dream drifted back.

She had dreamed of a room decorated in Liyue style,

And beside her lay a little girl with jet-black hair.

Amber didn't know why, but the moment she saw the girl's face, she felt a strong sense of familiarity.

And more than that—

An overwhelming motherly instinct welled up in her heart.

Now that she thought about it…

The girl's features… kind of resembled Kael.

The blush that had just faded came roaring back.

She had dreamed about having Kael's child?!

This is way too shameful!!
