Chapter 59: Capturing Gastly (Part 2)
Having figured things out, Brock exclaimed in surprise, "Damn! That Gastly transformed into that old woman and completely fooled even me! So powerful! How am I supposed to catch it then?!... I should ask Bell!"
So, Brock spoke to Bell, "Bell! How should I catch the Gastly from the mission?"
Hearing Brock, Bell asked in surprise, "Host Brock! You encountered that Gastly?!"
Hearing Bell, Brock nodded.
Seeing the nod, Bell said, "Brock! Just go to the system shop and buy a Master Ball. Leave the rest to me."
Hearing Bell's suggestion, Brock asked doubtfully, "Bell, tell me, do you know that Gastly? Also... after I capture it, will it be like Dragonite? Will I need points to call it out for battle?"
Hearing Brock, Bell nodded with its clumsy body.
Seeing this, Brock thought for a moment, then exited his mindscape. He saw Ash and Misty arguing again, while Melanie and Daisy were trying to mediate nearby.
Brock only heard Misty saying angrily, "Ash! I just want to ask you, what part of me doesn't look like a beauty?!"
Seeing Misty lose her temper, Ash remembered things Misty had done when angry before, felt scared, and weakly whispered, "Misty... you weren't really a beauty to begin with!" After saying this, he hid behind Melanie.
Hearing this statement, Misty's anger flared even more. If Daisy hadn't been holding her back, Misty would have gone over and started hitting Ash.
Brock had originally intended to just watch the show, but Daisy, who was holding Misty back, saw him. She called out, "Brock! Come over and help! Don't let Ash and Misty keep fighting!"
Hearing this, Brock thought, Sigh! Can't continue watching the show now. So, Brock walked over and asked Misty and Ash, "Misty, Ash, why are you two arguing?"
Melanie, nearby, heard Brock and explained what had happened. After hearing the story, Brock burst out laughing ("Pfft!"). Then, adopting a tone of 'I can't help you', he said to Ash, "Ash... about this matter... it's not that I don't want to help you, I really can't help you! You even dare to provoke Misty! I finally understand now: If you don't court disaster, you won't find it!" After speaking, Brock walked away.
Seeing Brock leave, Ash was dumbfounded. He thought, I thought Brock would help! That way, my safety would have been more guaranteed! Sigh! Didn't expect him to just walk away.
Seeing Brock leave, Misty continued threatening Ash, "Ash! You might as well just let me hit you nicely! Don't force me to get rough!" Hearing Misty, Ash hid even more fearfully behind Melanie.
Meanwhile, with Brock! He arrived at a street where the festival was being held. He saw the entire street was lined with vendors selling things. He thought, A while back, I used several thousand points... Let's see if I can exchange enough to get them back today! It all depends on my skill now. Having decided this, Brock started strolling down the street.
And so, every time Brock walked past a small stall, some items from that stall would inexplicably go missing. Meanwhile, the points in Brock's mindscape slowly increased.
Brock wandered for an unknown amount of time. He arrived at a small stall, looked at the vendor, and exclaimed in surprise, "Uncle! It's you! You came here to sell Magikarp too?!" Yes, the uncle Brock encountered was the same man who had sold Magikarp to Brock on the S.S. Anne.
Hearing Brock, the vendor uncle looked at Brock, thought for a moment, then said in surprise, "It's you! Little brother! Didn't expect to run into you here! Also, that Magikarp of mine was pretty good, wasn't it?"
Hearing the vendor, Brock said angrily, "What 'pretty good'?! That Magikarp of yours already died! What are you going to do about this?! Compensate me! Otherwise, I'll report you for selling me fake goods!" After speaking, Brock thought, Damn, I'm so smart! This way, I can make him compensate me with another Magikarp!
Hearing Brock, the vendor uncle calmly replied, "Wasn't the Magikarp fine when I gave it to you?"
"The Magikarp was fine then, but after just one day, it died! What are you going to do about it?" Brock argued.
"As long as the Magikarp was fine when I sold it to you, it's not my fault," the vendor uncle explained.
Hearing the vendor uncle's logic, Brock couldn't argue further. He sighed and said, "Uncle, I won't pursue this matter with you then. What Water-type Pokémon do you have for sale today?" After speaking, Brock walked up to the vendor uncle's stall and saw a large water tank there, containing many Magikarp and one incredibly ugly fish.
Hearing Brock's question, the vendor uncle's eyes gleamed, and he said to Brock, "Young man! I have lots of good stock today! Want to buy?"
Brock saw the incredibly ugly fish in the tank and thought, That's a Feebas! It evolves into the beautiful Milotic! Didn't expect to encounter one here! My luck is really good!
Having finished this thought, Brock said to the vendor uncle, "Uncle, if I buy several Magikarp from you, could you maybe throw one in for free?"
Hearing Brock's proposal, the vendor uncle's eyes gleamed again as he replied, "No problem! Seeing as you're an old customer of mine, let's make the price the same as last time!"
Hearing the vendor uncle, Brock casually pointed out four Magikarp. Then he said to the uncle, "Uncle, just those Magikarp then. As for the free one you're giving me... I'll take a loss and just take that really ugly fish!"
Hearing Brock's words, the vendor uncle put the Magikarp Brock had chosen and the Feebas into Poké Balls. He then handed the Poké Balls to Brock. Brock accepted the Poké Balls, then took out money to pay.
After paying, Brock continued walking forward. As he walked, he thought, Four thousand units for four Magikarp and one Feebas... definitely worth it! Feebas is a rare Pokémon; even just that alone is worth more than this price! This boss actually didn't know... I really picked up a huge bargain!
After sorting out his thoughts, Brock arrived outside a small wooden cabin. There he saw the old woman who had warned him earlier to be careful of beautiful women. So, Brock walked forward and said, "Gastly! A friend of yours wants to see you."
Hearing Brock, Gastly said, "Didn't expect you, little brat, to have such sharp eyes." After speaking, it transformed into Gastly's true form.
Then it said to Brock, "Little brat! You said a friend of mine wants to see me? Call them out!"
Hearing Gastly, Brock replied, "It's not convenient out here. Let's talk inside the house."
So, Brock and Gastly went inside the cabin. Once inside, Gastly said impatiently, "Little brat! You said a friend of mine wants to see me! Hurry up and call them out!"
Hearing Gastly, Brock replied, "Right away." He then entered his mindscape, noticed Bell wasn't there, and figured Bell must have gone out to meet Gastly, so he didn't dwell on it. He opened the system shop, bought a Master Ball, and exited his mindscape.
