Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Opera House

Uncle Jeer stayed to continue discussing the divorce, while Kingsley and her sister Irena accompanied Karl to see the house.

This is a two-story house made of a mixture of brick and wood.

The walls have been specially reinforced, and the doors are mostly arched. The design of the flying beam makes the house more light and delicate.

The upstairs is for accommodation and the downstairs is for entertaining guests. It is divided into seven rooms in total. Each room is very spacious, even the bedroom.

The kitchen and dining room are located near the entrance to facilitate the preparation and distribution of food and drinks.

The living room is located in the middle of the house.

In addition to the bedroom, there is also a cloakroom upstairs, which can be converted into a small chapel or laboratory.

There is also a bathroom, which is divided into two parts, the outside for washing and the inside for toilet, separated by a folding door in the middle.

Overall, the layout of this house is reasonable, but it lacks popularity and the furniture is not complete, which makes people feel very desolate. After all, it has not been lived in for too long.

In addition, it also has the disadvantages of wooden houses.

Because of the age of the building and the gnawing of insects and ants, many wood piles have rotted. If he want to live in it officially, he have to spend some time to repair it. This cost is not small, and it also seriously affects its selling price.

"There is also a storage room in the basement. Because of the design, the ventilation is not good. Remember to ventilate it before entering."

Kingsley took Karl around then asked him: "How is it?"

"Very good."

Karl nodded: "I am very satisfied."

Compared with the house, he is more satisfied with this small courtyard of more than 100 square meters, where he can rest at any time.

Every time he comes back from the gloomy Black City, the thing he wants to do most is to bask in the sun.

And the separate courtyard is also convenient for transporting goods.

As for other defects, it doesn't matter to him. As a wizard apprentice, there are ways to solve them.

"As long as you are satisfied."

Kingsley smiled.

"Then let's sign the contract, forty gold coins, I didn't expect you to have such a large inheritance."

Inheritance!

Karl's explanation for his wealth is that his grandfather left a legacy specifically in the Mountbatten Bank.

As for whether others believe it or not...he doesn't care.

"After buying the house, I will be penniless." Karl pretended to sigh.

"I'll pay ten gold coins first, and pay the rest within a month."

"No problem." Kingsley waved her hand: "You are my cousin, I still have some trust."

She looked very happy. After all, forty gold coins far exceeded the value of this house.

As for the sadness of divorce...

She would only be glad that she had regained her freedom and was eager to be free from the marriage.

"Irena."

After signing the contract, when the two women were about to get on the carriage to leave, Karl remembered something and invited Irena:

"Do you have time tonight? A friend of mine will perform at the Wim Opera House today. Do you want to go with me?"

"Ah!"

Irena was ecstatic at first, then looked at Kingsley, thought about it, and shook her head with regret:

"I want to accompany my sister."

Her sister has just divorced, and there were many things to deal with at home. Even if she didn't need her help, she couldn't play by herself.

"Yes." Karl expressed his understanding: "Then we can meet again sometime."

…

"Crepes! Pancakes for a penny!"

"Fish and chips, candied fruit, cheap..."

"..."

At the entrance of Wim Opera House, the stalls blocked the road and the hawking was endless.

The theater's order maintenance staff had to shout and shove loudly to barely make a passage.

After getting off the carriage, Karl followed the flow of people towards the ticket entrance, and was suddenly pulled by his sleeve.

"Karl!"

"Hmm." Karl turned around, looking surprised: "Commander Dinah, you...what are you wearing?"

As the eldest daughter of Viscount Sassoon, Dinah is not short of money, so her clothes are naturally exquisite and gorgeous.

But today is different.

The linen tunic was dull and patched, the cloth boots on her feet were covered with dirt, and the headscarf was even shabbier.

Her beautiful facial features were also covered by plaster, and at first glance, she was no different from those low-class women on the street.

It was no wonder that Karl couldn't recognize her first, but this dress was obviously intentional.

Suddenly he said: "Are you investigating?"

Recently, Dinah rarely appeared in the inspection hall. It was said that she was fully investigating the mummy case.

Unfortunately, she was not well supported.

The people in the inspection hall were all from wealthy families, and they had no shortage of food and drink. How many of them were willing to take risks?

"Yeah."

Dinah had a blank expression.

"You should have concert tickets. I'll pay you double the price. Sell them to me. I need to go in."

"Sir." Karl shook his head.

"Concerts require neat clothes. With your current outfit, even if you have tickets, I'm afraid you may not be able to get in."

He took out two tickets and gestured.

"Let's go!"

Dinah raised her eyebrows, then snorted, raised her hand to wipe her face, took off her headscarf and let her long hair spread.

After her simple treatment, although her clothes were still shabby, her whole temperament changed.

Especially the light that bloomed from her delicate facial features completely covered the rest.

Taking a step forward, Dinah took Karl's arm, leaned her body to get close to each other, and walked side by side, looking like a loving couple.

"Both of you, please come in."

The ticket inspector checked the tickets, his eyes paused slightly on Dinah, and then extended his hand to invite her.

It is not uncommon for rich people to bring mistresses to high-end places, and the quality of these mistresses is also very high.

It's just that men are a bit stingy, and they don't even buy decent clothes for me when they come to the theater.

Dinah was not moved by the strange gaze. After entering the theater, she immediately let go of his hand and distanced them, which made Karl, who was immersed in the soft experience, feel a little regretful.

"Thank you for this time. I'll buy you a drink when I have a chance."

After a polite remark, without waiting for Karl's answer, Dinah flashed into the crowd and disappeared.

The Barro Singing Group performed well, and the singers' voices were clear and penetrating.

The music surged like a tide, and every note seemed to have life, jumping and spinning in the air, hitting people's hearts.

But even with such a wonderful performance, some people were still absent-minded.

A corner of the theater.

"Three gold coins?"

A beautiful woman exclaimed in a low voice: "Why did the price go up again?"

"Goods are in short supply, so it's not normal to increase the price." A man in a long robe snorted coldly and said slowly.

"Of course, you don't have to buy it."

"Three gold coins are really too expensive." The woman looked embarrassed.

"I have spent nearly fifty gold coins on you, can it be cheaper this time?"

"I said..." The man said indifferently: "You don't have to buy it."

???

The woman's face changed, she struggled, and finally sighed helplessly: "I'll buy it."

As she said that, she took out her exquisite purse, took out a gold coin and twenty gold pounds from it and handed them over.

"The goods are correct, right?"

"When did I ever fool you?" The man borrowed the money and finally smiled, and then handed over a porcelain bottle.

"It's the same as before, three drops at a time, once a week."

"Da!"

At this moment, a hand suddenly stretched out from the darkness and grasped the porcelain bottle.

Dinah's figure appeared.

"So, this is the so-called Purity Potion?"

"You..." The man's face changed, and then he rushed out as if his feet were equipped with springs.

"Want to escape?"

Dinah snorted.

"But can you escape?"
