"Lord Dayne", Jon smiled broadly as he welcomed his guests, "Greg, Bob, good to see you again"
"It has been too long since I kicked your arse", Bob licked his lips.
"I think you are confused. It was Jon who beat you, over and over again", Edric snickered, watching Bob grow several shades of red.
"I can totally kick his ass, right here, right now!"
He couldn't. He got his arse handed to him within ten seconds. After that, he stayed silent. They too were guided to the guest wing, which was filling quite nicely.
Later, at dinner, Jon announced he would be going on another hunting trip.
"Can I come with?" Arya practically bounced.
"Jon never lets anyone accompany him on his hunting trips. He uses the time away to decompress", one of the guards explained.
"Oh- well… okay then…" Arya looked so sad. He couldn't bear seeing her so down.
"Fine, you can come with but no one else", Jon sighed.
"Really? Really?! Great news! When will we go?"
"Tomorrow after breaking our fast. Be ready and pack some clothes in a bag, we could be away for a week" Jon explained.
"A week? Are you sure it is wise for Arya to come with?", their father asked, "she is only a-"
"Child? She is, but I'll be there to protect her. It will be some nice bonding time, don't worry"
Jon had already revealed his magic to her and since Eddard didn't mention it, she must've kept the secret. She could be trusted with his search for the sea dragon eggs. It was risky but he didn't care.
The next day, Jon and Arya took two horses and they rode out towards one of the many keeps he had yet to search. Sea dragon point was full of two things, destroyed keeps and weirwood trees. Even after all these months, he hadn't visited all of them.
A week passed and Jon was about ready to return with the deer meat which they had caught over this week, when Arya called out, "hey there is a trapdoor here"
A trap door?
Jon strolled closer to her and looked. Indeed, there was a heavy, stone trap door where she was standing. Gingerly, he opened the heavy door, to reveal a staircase leading downwards.
The two siblings looked at each other and nodded, jumping down. Jon kept the world around them lit using illusion magic. The stairs went deeper and deeper underground.
There were engravings of sea dragons and men, crudely carved into the walls around them. Deep within the earth, they found a room, in which there was a large assortment of bones, sea dragon bones and, lying on a table, there were two pristine eggs, both blue in color, the size of goose eggs.
"Whoa, what are those?" Arya poked the shells.
"Those are the reason for why I have been going on these 'hunting' trips. Sea dragon eggs"
"Sea dragon…? I thought those were myths! Are you telling me these here are-?"
"Yes, they are… I didn't chose the sea dragon biting its own tail for no reason… I knew it was possible to find them. The Targaryens were able to conquer Westeros with three dragons. Imagine what I could do with two sea dragons-!"
"You want the iron throne?"
"Yes… what I am about to tell you must be kept secret, for if it ever saw the light of day, I would be killed. I am, in truth, not your brother but your cousin. My mother was Lyanna Stark and my father? The dragon prince himself, Rhaegar. The iron throne is my birthright. Father knows I am her son but he doesn't know that I want the Throne, he mustn't know. The usurper is his best friend, it wouldn't go over well, making him choose between friendship and kinship"
"It is… hard to believe but I- I trust you Jon. I will support you in whichever way I can. We may not be brother and sister but we are still family"
"That is good to hear, let's head back now, I have a wedding to plan"
Later, back at Snow's edge, Jon took the eggs out of his bag in the maester's chambers.
"These aren't-?" Maester Alfred asked.
"They are. We found them in an Underground chamber. Do you know how to hatch them?"
"There are few records left behind by the first men but- well, I've read something about their sea dragons, yes… I will try to get the materials as fast as possible but- it could take a few months. The ingredients are hard to find, if not rare. Dragon nessle, ripping algea, blue stone, dragon glass and a few others. Some I'll have to import from south or even east whilst some I can get right here in sea dragon point"
"Good… see that it is done as fast as possible. It will take years for them to be fully grown. The sooner they hatch, the better", Jon put the eggs in one of the secret compartments in the room, "no one must know what the ingredients are for, understand Maester?"
"Yes lord Jotun"
Jon walked out, his hands trailing the sea dragon eating its own tail, embroidered on his shirt. Sea dragons… he wondered whether they would strengthen the world's magic as the real dragons emergence would in a few years time… only time would tell.
Looking up into the sky, he saw that it was time for lunch. He sauntered over to the dining hall. There, his guests were already eating. He sat at the head table and ate his venison. He liked the taste, it was earthy and rich. His cooks employed way more spices than most in Westeros. It wasn't northern cooking, it was much more similar to Dornish cuisine.
He would never go back to the northern seasoning(salt and pepper mostly) if he could so help it. He took another bite and the meat dissolved in his mouth.
