"I'm such an idiot… seriously..."
Akio had lost count of how many times he'd sighed like this.
Walking through an endless desert, Akio suddenly recalled something from his past life—the anime. During the First Five Kage Summit, when the First Hokage proposed distributing the Tailed Beasts, the Fourth Kazekage objected. Since the Land of Wind already possessed a Tailed Beast and its geography was harsh and barren, he demanded that Konoha cede fertile land to Sunagakure and also provide 30% of the funds from other nations' purchases of Tailed Beasts. However, his proposal was strongly rejected by the other Kage.
Thinking back on it now, Akio realized how badly he'd been duped. All his careful planning, yet he'd been played by that sly Hashirama with just a few words—and ended up in a place like this.
"Seriously, where the hell is this? Wasn't it supposed to be near the border between the Land of Fire and the Land of Wind?"
In the world of Naruto, national borders weren't clearly marked. So Akio had simply flown straight ahead, only to find nothing but desert. Left with no choice, he landed.
"Well, no one's around… Release Transformation!" he muttered.
His jutsu dispersed, revealing his true form.
"Haven't seen this handsome young face in a while..." he said with a smirk, using a kunai as a mirror.
"My passion burns like fire—igniting the whole desert~" Akio began singing, a rare moment of levity.
"But seriously… burning… desert… it's so damn hot!" he groaned. "With just Level 2 Water Release, I can't do much. Do I need to upgrade it?"
Thinking for a moment, he formed the Tiger hand seal: "Kagura's Mind Eye!"
After a brief moment, Akio grimaced. "No way… not a single chakra signature for miles around? Where am I?"
"Huh?" Suddenly, he sensed chakra coming from the west. He turned toward it.
"What is that? It's moving fast—and the chakra is strong."
In the distant sky, a black dot appeared, quickly growing into a round shape, drawing closer at an alarming speed.
"Damn it! Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique!"
With a thunderous boom, the explosion sent sand flying everywhere. Akio looked down at his tattered clothes, now caked with dirt, and sighed bitterly.
He should've dodged. Trying to counter it had been a mistake—especially in the middle of a damn desert.
"Shukaku, you jerk! Ever heard of restraint?! You can't just throw a Tailed Beast Bomb around like that!"
Cursing under his breath, Akio sprinted westward.
After running for several kilometers, he began sensing multiple chakra signatures.
"Two Kage-level? Plus Shukaku… Better be cautious."
He slowed down, carefully creeping closer.
Hiding behind a dune, he peeked out and spotted… a bald man.
"A monk? That's rare…" Akio whispered.
Then his gaze shifted to the object the monk was holding—a bowl emitting Shukaku's chakra.
"They sealed Shukaku? That thing's a sealing tool?" Akio's eyes sparkled. "Maybe I can steal it…"
Scanning the surroundings, he spotted three others nearby.
"Two boys and a girl, probably 12 or 13. No big threat—maybe jonin at most. But that bald guy… Could he be the First Kazekage? That'd be tricky…"
"Who's there!" the old monk suddenly shouted. The other three instantly went on alert.
Scratching his head, Akio stood up awkwardly. "Seriously? He sensed me? That monk has chakra perception?"
"Are you a lost traveler?" the First Kazekage asked, eyeing his ragged appearance.
Akio's face darkened, just about to speak, when the Kazekage continued, "Wait… red hair? Are you from the Uzumaki clan of the Land of Fire?"
Akio hesitated for a moment. "That's right. I'm Uzumaki Akio, an elder from Konohagakure. The Hokage sent me to visit the Land of Wind. We heard you're establishing your own shinobi village, and the Hokage is delighted. He hopes we can join forces to end this era of chaos."
"An elder? But he looks so young… and kind of handsome," the girl beside the Kazekage muttered.
Akio's expression changed—his youthful appearance had been exposed. If word got out, he'd look five years older just to cover it up at the next Kage Summit.
Still, he joked, "Little girl, is that your boyfriend next to you? If not, want to come back to Konoha with this handsome big brother?"
The girl blushed slightly. "He's my little brother…"
"Chiyo! Don't talk to him too much. He could be an enemy!" the First Kazekage interjected.
Akio was too stunned to care about being considered an enemy. His whole face turned purple, and a single dreadful thought consumed him:
"I just flirted with Granny Chiyo… I'm gonna lose followers for this…"
But he had to confirm, "Uh… your little brother… his name wouldn't happen to be Ebizō, would it?"
The boy blinked. "How did you know?"
Akio turned green. Life had lost all meaning.
"This elder from Konoha," the Kazekage said calmly, "I am Retsudō, provisional leader of our village. Thank you for your visit, but if there's nothing else, please return. Once our village is established, we'll inform Konoha."
Akio scratched his head, trying to think of a plan to take Shukaku without a fight. Though legends claimed the Third Kazekage was the strongest, he didn't buy it. The so-called "strongest Hokage" was the Third, too—yet he couldn't hold a candle to the First.
This Retsudō was probably no pushover. If Akio didn't use the Eight Gates, he might not be able to win. And with that monk around, one mistake could end in disaster.
After a while, he gave up on a frontal assault. He'd have to wait for a better opportunity—to steal the sealing tool instead.
With a clasped fist, he bowed. "Mountains fade, waters flow. Until we meet again!"
The trio stared at him, utterly confused.
"Wait, traveler!" the monk suddenly called. "I sense reluctance in your heart. Perhaps you should resolve it before you go…"
Akio rolled his eyes. "Even monks in this world say 'traveler'?"
He pressed his palms together. "Amitābha… uh, no, wait. Master." He almost slipped into character. "I have no lingering regrets. Farewell."
Without another word, he vanished in a flash.
About ten kilometers away, Akio used Kagura's Mind Eye again to tail them from a safe distance. No way the monk could sense him from this far.
He followed them for dozens of kilometers until they arrived at a temple. Beside it stood an altar, where the monk carefully placed the sealing bowl.
Once everything was secured, the First Kazekage and the others nodded and left, bowing slightly to the monk.
Late into the night, Akio placed a custom shuriken at his feet and dashed toward the altar in several quick steps. Inside the temple, the monk rushed out—clearly having sensed his chakra.
"But too late…" Akio smirked, pulling out a sealing scroll and sealing the entire altar along with the bowl. "Shuriken Body Replacement Technique!"
In the distance, the only thing that could be heard was the monk's wail:
"Traveler! You can keep Shukaku! Just give me back my Wind Altar!"
