Chapter 3 - Seeking Friendship

Both Kev and Suzuki crouched down on a miniature, circular wooden table, that sat right outside the school's courtyard, where the newly blossomed trees planted a surge of industrious hope within the school, filled with hopeless lives. There bodies remained immutable, as they sat there in silence, parallel to each-other, there shoulders almost closing the gap. Life had never felt less sonder.

Kev plotted his carboard plate, filled with a graveyard of sauce, enshrouding several different coloured pasta onto the table.

"You make your own food?" Whispered Kev towards Suzuki, who then placed her small, purple container with several tasty-looking food trapped inside upon the table.

"mhm" She replied.

A few minutes went by, and as Kev vacuumed most of his food, he peered back towards Suzuki and was shocked to see her labyrinth of delicious looking food was almost as full as he was.

"If you eat that slow... you'll never be able to finish your food before lunch is over, y'know?" Suzuki didn't respond upon this topic. Kev realized he may have put her off her food, after-all Suzuki didn't strike Kev as the out-going type, for whatever reason she seems sensitive to any topic.

Even when she eats she still keeps that mask on... I wander why...

Kev jolted his hand towards Suzuki's lunchbox, before latching his fingers onto one of the sushi she had made. He rapidly surrounded the sushi inside his gums, before bursting out an exaggerated, surreal expression of 'love' towards the sushi.

"That's great, y'know? You shouldn't waste such tasty food!" Blasted Kev, before engulfing several more.

"H-hey!" Mumbled Suzuki, clearly galvanized by Kev's sudden whimsical behavior.

"You gonna make me eat them all, or are ya' gonna help me out?" Coughed Kev, who continuously stuffed his mouth with heaps of food.

Suzuki leapt a almost silent chuckle before picking up a few chunks of food, and slowly importing them underneath her mask, as if a slow-moving crane.

Why is it that whenever I'm with him... It feels as if I forget... Her.

A few more days danced by; Suzuki and Kev seemed to repeat the same cycle almost everyday: They both meet outside one-another's door, before marching there way towards school. First break they leaned underneath a small snow guard, that shielded them against the vigorous heat of the early summer weather. Next, they met up at lunch and sat at the same bench, then, they both walked back, usually Suzuki trailing behind Kev as he blabbered.

One day, as if a species of animal going extinct in a well-working food chain, there process snapped, as, when they wandered off towards there usual table, a crowd of kids hoarded there usual bench. Knowing the group of kids weren't in the wrong, they decided venture out to find a new spot to eat. Almost like finding a new bed to buy, or buying a new house after living in it for so long - they couldn't find a replacement that lived up to it's name.

Soon enough they wandered into an empty classroom, with unfolded blinds and a basic seat arrangement. Kev thrusted a chair, and slid it towards the table Suzuki had placed down her food. They sat next to a wide vertically tall window, with a rectangular piece at the top engraved within a thick black plaster, and a handle underneath it.

I wander how they open those windows? Perhaps if I paid more attention to the people in my class I'd know... It's also so quiet in here... So private. Thought Kev. Outside the window was a wide field with an oval-shaped track painted with a light-coloured red, stapled within the middle of it.

As Kev lead his eyes on a trail around the several blurry people that sprinted across the track, Suzuki, after being hit with an 'accidental' embolden from Kev, she gains a perplexing amount of confidence, as she decided to strike and get payback towards Kev.
