Another arm swung out instantly, and several more ninja were pierced through by the sharp trident-like blades. Their bodies crumpled to the ground, lifeless beyond doubt.

Miao slowly turned his body toward the rear. By now, the remaining ninjas had all perished, save for their leader, who was already far away, sprinting desperately toward the other side of the forest.

"Trying to escape?" Miao said indifferently. The once composed and confident leader now wore an expression of sheer terror, his earlier bravado completely replaced by panic.

"Run! Run! I have to get out of here!" The leader's face was etched with fear, his mind consumed by the horrifying image of Susano'o. Any thoughts of claiming Miao's head had vanished—his only goal now was to flee as fast as possible.

A massive black energy trident shot forward like lightning, hurtling toward the fleeing ninja leader. The man's face contorted in horror as he frantically accelerated, but no matter how fast he ran, he couldn't outrun the trident.

"Thud!!!" His body was pierced clean through, and the immense force carried him forward, smashing through countless trees before finally pinning him to a massive, ancient tree trunk. His body twitched a few times and then went still, unmistakably dead.

"I told you," Miao said coldly, "none of you will escape."

By now, the only survivor was the ninja Miao had kicked in the abdomen at the start of the battle. This man had suffered multiple broken ribs from the force of the blow and was unable to stand.

The skin of Susano'o dissipated into countless particles of energy, vanishing into the air. The white humanoid bones sank back into the black flames of energy, disappearing without a trace.

"Tap... Tap... Tap..." The sound of Miao's footsteps echoed as he slowly approached the incapacitated ninja. Trembling uncontrollably, the ninja stared up at Miao with eyes wide in terror. "No! No, don't come any closer!"

In a flash, Miao reached out and grabbed the man by the throat, lifting him up to meet his gaze. His right eye, which had reverted to its ordinary three-tomoe Sharingan state, opened slowly. With a soft grunt, Miao activated his genjutsu.

The ninja's body shuddered violently, then his eyes glazed over, and he began muttering incoherently: "It... It was the Daimyo of Mountain Country who hired us to eliminate you. Kill on sight, no exceptions."

"Hmph!" Miao snorted, his left hand suddenly gripping a kunai. In one swift motion, he slashed it across the man's throat. Blood sprayed everywhere.

"You…!" The ninja gasped, momentarily snapping out of his stupor, his eyes filled with fear and regret. But moments later, his pupils dilated, and his life faded away.

Dropping the corpse, Miao collapsed to one knee, clutching his eyes and panting heavily. "The side effects of the Mangekyō Sharingan are still as brutal as ever," he muttered. "Even after using Susano'o for just a short time, not only my eyes but even the cells in my body ache. Truly, this is a cursed power."

Miao was now fourteen years old, five years since he first awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan. However, due to its overwhelming side effects, he rarely used it. Even so, his vision had begun to deteriorate—he often experienced blurred vision or hallucinations, and things didn't appear as clear as they once did.

While the Mangekyō Sharingan granted incredible abilities far surpassing those of the standard three-tomoe Sharingan—including enhanced insight, hypnotic powers, and superior copying skills for both ninjutsu and taijutsu—the toll it took on the user grew worse with repeated use.

Not every Uchiha with a fully developed three-tomoe Sharingan could awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan. Only those with exceptional talent, strong bloodline traits, and specific mental conditions could unlock its power.

Compared to the vast population of the Uchiha clan, even among those who awakened the Sharingan, very few achieved the three-tomoe stage. And of those, only two—Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Shisui—had managed to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan, highlighting its rarity.

Throughout the long history of the Uchiha clan, there were only a handful of recorded cases of individuals achieving the Mangekyō Sharingan. If every Uchiha with three tomoe could awaken it, the clan would have long dominated Konoha instead of being annihilated single-handedly by Itachi.

As for the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, the requirements were even stricter. Apart from needing compatible blood relatives and two pairs of Mangekyō Sharingan, the fusion process itself carried significant risks. Failure could result in severe damage to the eyes' chakra, leaving little chance for another attempt. There were precedents of such failures within the Uchiha clan; some had tried to emulate Uchiha Madara but ended in disaster, underscoring the immense danger involved.

Though Miao possessed his father's Mangekyō Sharingan, he hadn't yet decided to transplant it. On one hand, there was the risk of fusion failure. On the other, these were his father's eyes—his father's legacy—and Miao couldn't bring himself to take that step.

After resting against a large tree for a while, Miao slowly stood up, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "Hmph! Mountain Country, it seems the Daimyo of Sakura Country owes me another favor."

A few days later, in the Daimyo's residence of Mountain Country, the severed head of the Daimyo was found hanging from the rafters of the mansion, discovered early in the morning by his servants. The entire capital of Mountain Country was thrown into chaos. The Daimyo's sons immediately shed their pretenses, openly vying for power. The nation descended into turmoil.
