Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 : New dungeon effect!

I looked through the options in the translucent window of the dungeon system to find the effect I wanted.

And I finally found it!

Dungeon Effect: Every day at midnight, the dungeon changes shape, while keeping the same size and basic structure. Monsters in the dungeon will be placed in areas similar to their previous positions. The chests will also be placed in areas similar to before. The traps will be placed in spots resembling the previous ones. (20,000 dungeon points)

With this, my dungeon can no longer be mapped! No more getting out without getting lost or easily avoiding traps and monsters!

It took me half a year to gather that many points! All because of the maps that were put up for sale…

The only points earned from deaths were mostly thanks to monsters killing the explorers!

But honestly, I kind of expected that… That's exactly why I wanted this effect first, since the very beginning of my adventure. And now, thanks to the dungeon system's evolution, I can finally have it!

Once purchased, I smiled, amused by the explorers who were laughing at how easy the dungeon was thanks to maps—without knowing it would be the last time things would be so simple!

I transformed into a Rat Queen to bring in groups of rats to attack the explorers, also using my Attack Reinforcement skill on myself to deal more powerful damage.

I did the same with the slimes, transforming into the three different queens.

I also learned something about Mimic of Woman. It seems I have saved copies of my mimics, but I only get two for each transformation. Once both are used up, I need to see my target again.

I killed a lot of explorers easily!

Eventually night fell, and that's when the bandits entered, while adventurers were fewer.

I laughed, because those bandits are going to have a really hard time getting out alive once the dungeon changes shape~

Midnight came, and the dungeon started shaking. The bandits began panicking and screaming as the dungeon's walls moved.

The monsters remained completely still, as if they knew this was going to happen.

The more the walls moved, the more lost the bandits became.

I saw them screaming in fear, wondering what was going on, yelling to find their companions.

I even saw a group fighting countless slimes get separated by the shifting walls of the labyrinth. The remaining two out of the five died under the slimes' assault. Once the bandits were killed, the slimes simply stopped moving, letting the labyrinth finish shifting.

Once midnight had passed, the labyrinth finished changing its appearance. It felt like an eternity, but it only took a minute.

The bandits tried to move and escape, but with the layout changed, they fell into traps and died, or were attacked by monsters—mostly thanks to me!

One bandit even managed to open a chest and get a rare-tier weapon-shield, but with the number of rats I brought, he was eaten alive!

The rats climbed onto his body, trembling with fear, and with each bite, the bandit screamed in terror and pain. And with my Attack Reinforcement skill, he died even faster.

His lifeless body fell and cracked, the rats jumped on it, and soon only bones remained—but even those disappeared after a minute.

As for the shield? I left it there. The next explorer will either get two rare weapons… or a poison cloud and a rare shield!

Day came quickly as I fell asleep—or rather went into standby mode. Slimes don't sleep.

Adventurers and other explorers came, cheerful at first and clearly mocking my dungeon, but soon deaths came quickly, because by following the bought maps, they got lost! They fell into traps or died to monsters in overwhelming numbers!

Hahaha! It works! It really works! This effect is truly one of the best for a labyrinth-type dungeon!

"Guild Mistress! It's urgent!"

"What's happening?"

"The labyrinth dungeon—it's not the same as yesterday!"

"What?!"

"Countless adventurers and explorers are dying rapidly!"

"What should we do?!"

"Issue an urgent notice! Say: 'The labyrinth dungeon no longer matches the maps!'"

"And mark it as Rank E!"

"Yes, ma'am!"

I can only sigh helplessly...

My eyes squint, my mouth drops with no smile, my hands covering my face in exhaustion.

This dungeon is less than a year old, yet it evolves so fast…

I don't know what kind of creature is running this dungeon, but it's one that knows exactly what it's doing!

I think this dungeon master is going to create an extremely powerful and troublesome dungeon.

We absolutely must find the dungeon's core crystal to control its growth! But where could that damn crystal be?!

Before it changed shape, we mapped the entire dungeon—and still didn't find it!

Not only does the dungeon master know how to upgrade the dungeon very well, but they're also very clever! Not only in the placement of traps, chests, and monsters—but also with the crystal!

Clearly, they know that the crystal is the most important thing, so they've hidden it extremely well!

I need to create a guild squad specifically for this dungeon! Not only will they be our investigators, but the items found will be sold to us as priority, making our adventurer guild much richer than the others!

Let's see... Why not start with Alicia Bianchi? She managed to complete the entire dungeon alone and come back alive. If we give her a team just as skilled, she could do wonders!

Yes! Let's do that!

"Bring me the book of prodigy adventurers! Immediately!"

"Yes, Guild Mistress!"
