She should have felt proud. Triumphant, even.
Instead, she felt sick.
Because Alexander hadn't shown up.
Again.
He hadn't praised her record-breaking weekend. He hadn't commented on the new tasting menu that had food bloggers weeping. He hadn't even responded to her texts.
After that incident where Serena hijacked Charlotte's venue, she had fully expected Alexander to reach out — maybe a message, a "What are you doing" at the very least.
But he didn't.
Not a word.
She tried running into him at the company headquarters — he was never there.
