It turns out that Mei's secondary personality was called a Herscherr.
An incredibly powerful being that could bend the laws of reality to their whim.
And honestly, that sounds pretty metal to me.
What wasn't so cool is that they're kinda inclined to send humanity back to the stone age, or to no age in general.
The awakening of a Herrscher was usually tied to a Honkai eruption. That was basically, a nuclear meltdown meets zombie apocalypse but spiced up with super monsters and existential dread.
I dunno, it kinda seems like OP anime girls in Resident Evil to me.
Sounds like fun doesn't it?
A very nice world to live in-
Screw this crap man. What the hell is this world...
Next thing we know, there are higher dimensional creatures causing these things looking down on earth as a plaything.
Thus, the Mei that I fought that day wasn't at full power, nor at the full extent of her authority.
At her full power, she would be able to access the full might of electromagnetism.
In a sense, it was a power that could rival Mahoraga's adaptation...
It's a good thing that I'm not completely defenseless then considering I haven't really stopped my preparation for her.
As for Cocolia, she was some sort of leader in Anti-Entropy, which was very obviously not Schicksal.
So Bronya did tell the truth about the organisation's names. She just swapped the names around.
And unfortunately, not even Ryoma knew where Cocolia was so I can't just go look for her and kill her.
In the end, it seems that Bronya would still be the final piece of the puzzle to solve this mystery.
So much for solving all my problems with violence.
The betrayal of such a life philosophy was… alarming.
For now however, I needed to deal with Mei. Bronya could wait. I doubt she wanted to rush things either with how cautious she been.
Letting out a sigh, I walked out through the front door of Ryoma's home, two white guns in my hands. "I'll be going now. Are you going to miss me?"
"Just leave... please."
"Sheesh. Tough crowd." I turned around about to leave. However, a loud noise caught my attention in Ryoma's home again.
"Brat!! Why are you taking the other gun? I don't have any other weapon left!!"
It was Siegfried.
I toyed around with the guns a bit before smiling at Siegfried. "Well, when you visit Kiana again, I might give you back one of them."
Key word: Might.
In reality, there was no way I'm giving this up.
Hahahhahahaha
Siegfried went silent, as if contemplating whether to argue.. He let out a sigh before he took out a something: a letter...
Handing it over to me, Siegfried said emotionally, "Give this to Kiana... it's for her sake that I can't meet her..."
"Do you have strong people chasing after you? Otto?"
"Otto... yes, but Kiana... has secrets..." Siegfried paused as he looked away. "Secrets that would ruin things if I appeared near her..."
I stared at Siegfried for a brief moment before I took the letter in his hand. "I'll give this to her."
"Thank you." Tension visibly lessened from Siegfried's figure.
Man... dude even has to thank me even though I stole his gun...
Makes me feel kinda bad now...
"Woo hoo... now I don't have to hire someone to send it to her anymore! I can go to the bar again!!"
Nevermind.
Ignoring Siegfried's weird actions, I begun to leave once more.
"Don't tell Mei..." Ryoma muttered as my figure slowly left.
In response, I waved a hand without looking back. "Sure. I won't tell."
I'm gonna tell her.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mei, do you know that you're a jinchuriki?"
"..."
That was the reply I got when I decided to blurt out the secret to Mei.
We were sitting at the bench of the city's park. The same park that I was first introduced to Honkai.
I thought that it would be kinda poetic to reveal the truth to her here as well. That, along with the fact I wanted to clean up my thoughts after so much yesterday.
I chose to do this due to a couple of reasons. Chief of them however, was that I was worried we would have Sukuna-Yuji situation where the Herscherr persona does some sort of weird deal with Mei without her knowledge.
Then, while we were out one day, the Herscherr would go... "Enchain" and then start force feeding fingers into my mouth...
Wait... what was I thinking about again?
Cough cough.
Back to topic.
That was the main issue, but I chose to just tell her since her being aware of the issue was far better considering that she could take precautions on her own.
Ryoma couldn't protect her forever. And I didn't really want to become her bodyguard + follower.
I'm relatively surprised that Ryoma didn't just take Mei away though? Sure, Mei didn't come hang out for a while, probably for Ryoma to do some checks. But other than that, he didn't do anything else?
Strange
But, I guess that this city was Ryoma's home ground. If anyone was after them, he would be able to defend her best here.
"Like... in Homuruto?" Mei asked with a tilt of her head. "Gojo... are you pulling my leg?"
Crap... even Naruto got corrupted by that crappy Homu trend here.
Who even made that crap anyways and why do so many girls like it?
Pushing that out of my mind, I answered. "Nah. I'm serious. You have a second personality or something. Maybe it'll help you, maybe it won't?" I shrugged. "I'm leaning towards the destroy the world angle though."
Mei let out an exasperated sigh. "I told you before. I'm not a chuunibyou, Gojo... Do you realise how... impossible you sound?"
I put a hand on my chin as I looked up. "True. I guess it would be a bit hard to believe if someone came up to you out of the blue and told you that you have superpowers."
"That would be an understatement..."
"In that case, I'll just have to prove it, don't I?" I raised up my palm. "C'mon. Try and touch my palm."
Mei blinked. "What?"
"C'mon, c'mon." I said cheerfully. "I know that I'm a handsome dude and girls get shy around me, but this is important."
"Narcissist."
"Hey, telling the truth isn't narcissistic."
She rolled her eyes as she raised her palm. "I'll just play along if you want to Gojo. You don't have to come up with these-"
Mei's words came to an abrupt halt when her palms stopped before touching my palm. With widened eyes, she began to exert force. Eventually, she even started pushing with her entire body, her muscles straining as she pushed.
"This... is this a barrier?" Mei asked, confused as all hell.
"Well, someone familiar asked me this before. My answer was that it was my ancient anti-lightning technique from the Heian era?"
Ignoring my nonsense, Mei continued as she looked down, her bangs covering her eyes.. "So... you were telling the truth? That I did have something trapped inside me?"
"Yup." I said nonchalantly. I realised quickly though that I might need to comfort her. It's not everyday you get told that you were technically Naruto 2.0. "Mei, you-"
"Can you give me a moment Gojo?" she suddenly interrupted.
"Err sure."
Mei walked a small distance away for a moment looking away from me, her fists clenched. I secretly moved closer from behind however, since I'm a busybody like that.
But when I moved closer, I paused.
There was a visible glimpse of a smile beginning to form on her face.
Is the Herscherr coming out? Or has she already taken over Mei's body?
My suspicions disappeared immediately when I heard the things Mei said alone under her breath.
"Strong winds, surrender to my will"
"I will fall into the darkness, to bring you back into the light."
"Thunderstorm is coming."
I let out a cough as I stifled my laughter.
Mei froze in place when she heard that. She turned over to me and looked at my expression, her face continually paling as she did so.
"Y-you"
"I didn't hear anything." I said. My corner of my lips kept curling up, but I pushed them back down each time, closing my eyes as I did so.
Eventually, I couldn't hold back as I turned around myself, covering my mouth as I did so. That caused Mei to frantically shout out.
"Gojo! That... that was a joke! I was just joking!!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I... have the power to destroy the world?"
"If my knowledge is right."
"That means that... the school... that day..." Mei's eyes brightened in realisation. "We really did fight!"
"Yea."
"So you lied to me?"
"Let's be honest here, could I really have told you straight up that we destroyed the school?"
Mei went silent. However, it didn't take long for her to shake it off. "Forget about it then. In that case, who are you then Gojo? Are you from some sort of hidden force, ready to invite me to protect the world?"
"..."
"No?"
"You... have a creative imagination." I sighed. "You're a bit relaxed for someone who just had this bombshell dropped on them."
"Umm..." Mei looked away embarassedly. "Well, knowing that you can handle it helps quite a bit..."
Hearing that, my expression turned serious. "Mei, don't assume that it'll be so simple next time. The you that I fought hadn't fully awakened yet."
"Ah?"
"Your abilities are a bit... complicated. I essentially won cuz she was a bit of a fraud."
Mei's expression deflated. "I thought that I had the potential to destroy the world..."
"Well... you do. So please don't read any more physics books." I advised.
"Huh?"
"And don't make any deals with that thing. Who knows what type of deal it could trick you into agreeing to."
"I- I understand..."
"Alright then!" I clapped my hands. "There was my obligatory disclaimer. I'll be going back first Mei!"
"Gojo... can I ask something first?"
"Shoot."
"Who's stronger, you or her..."
"Well... if the Herscherr of Thunder awakened all of her powers, it might be a little draining..."
"Would you lose?"
"Nah I'd..." I paused. Isn't this kinda familiar? My face distorted sourly as I looked at Mei.
"What's wrong?" Mei asked with an unsure smile.
"You nearly turned me into Go and Jo!!!!"
That made Mei laugh. "Sorry?" she barely forced herself to say.
"You don't sound very sorry Mei." I squinted my eyes at her.
"Surely you're imagining things."
This girl...
