During the plague that ravaged the Moriarty Kingdom 3000 years ago.
The eldest prince, Cain Moriarty felt the consequences of his own actions at the sight of his transformation. He took in the largest amount of mutagens from the virus as he is the one closest to the cause.
Hours after his successful transformation, unlike the cannibalistic state his people went under, he was the only one who didn't feast on human blood.
"As we take a closer view, the crimson virus is more complex than we thought.", Professor Lanny swipes to the left at the projection, to view the next slide.
"It's to the point that it highly unbelievable that it was created 3000 years ago.", she stated.
"Unlike vampires, we were not born with immortality but thanks to the living vampires from 3000 years ago, we were able to study the virus in more depth.", she said proudly.
"Are all mages usually like this?", Angel asked Latisha.
"Well, let's just say they highly value wisdom than their own power.", Latisha answered.
Angel pans back his attention to the professor.
"The key to understanding the vampires, particularly the purebloods, lies within the unique genetic makeup of the prince.", she said before locking in.
The purebloods were originally the surviving cannibals of the past that were saved with the prince's gene administration.
It is theorized that the prince possessed a specific gene or a combination of genetic markers that interacted with the virus in a distinct way.
"The purebloods weren't exactly that many as it was proven that purebloods were all people from within the central capital of the kingdom, thus the prince only had to take account of the people within. Those who survived were from the rural regions of the nation.", she explained.
"However, how did the prince's gene contribute to the cannibalistic purebloods?", she asked.
She then went ahead and gave it an explanation.
The virus didn't eliminate the hunger for human flesh entirely, it only reduced it to the only sustenance they wanted from the flesh which is blood.
"Though, we'll have to end the lesson here for today, I'll see you all next week.", she said before leaving in a flash.
"Eh...", Angel watched her disappear.
"It's a good thing that we only have two subjects per day.", Latisha stretched her body before she stood up from her seat.
Angel stood up and was readying to leave the classroom but was soon interrupted when Noah held his shoulder by the back.
"How were you able to answer something that didn't exist in the ancient texts.", Noah asked.
"Noah! What are you doing!?", Latisha asked him in annoyance.
"Stay out of this Latisha, I'm sick of these half-bloods thinking they're better than us.", Noah strengthened his grip.
Angel brushed Noah's hand off his shoulder.
"Am I obligated to answer?", Angel said.
"Control yourself will you? Professor Lance is just right outside the door.", Angel said before exiting the biology classroom.
"Damn worthless half-bloods!", Noah said in frustration.
As Angel exited the classroom, he took a look at Lance at his side before heading off.
"Hm... he's a courageous boy, which is unlike his character before he obtained my lord's blood.", Lance muttered as he watched Angel walk away.
As evening came, Angel returned to his room and tried to find anything special inside, something that the great Blood Lord Cain would keep hidden.
"Nothing...", Angel sat at bed feeling defeated.
"I was expecting more since this is the renowned Blood Lord's room...", he slouched at the bed.
"Hm?", Angel reacted, feeling something from within the bed.
Angel immediately took the mattress away and found a box hidden inside the bed.
"Huh, how did I not think of this before?", Angel muttered.
He grabbed the box and saw an unusual lock. The lock didn't have any key holes but had a inward thumb shaped bowl and an needle in the middle .
"Don't tell me...", Angel said as he realized the method of opening the lock.
The needle was slightly larger than the size of a syringe's needle and a sewing needle combined in thickness but is slightly shorter, enough not to reach the nail of the thumb.
"Here I go!", Angel said with determination.
He pressed his thumb at the lock and the needle pierced through, causing blood to fill the inward thumb shaped bowl. The blood was soon absorbed by the lock and the lock eroded and fell into dust.
"It's open, ugh.", Angel said as he still could feel the sting of the hole in his thumb which soon healed.
"A diary?", Angel said as he took the old book inside the box.
The book's texts were written in an unknown language for the modern times yet for some reason, Angel could read it perfectly.
Angel read through the diary through the whole night.
"Unification? But everything seems unified already?", Angel asked.
The four factions were always in a constant state of war. The Hunter faction tried to dissolve us due to their hatred, the wolf faction attacked us due to their pride and the State of Magistry still saw us as a threat to humanity despite peace treaty.
I only wished for peace, as even my own people thought of rebellion. The Bat elders left our kingdom and only Lord Noctis remained as the only bat elder of the kingdom.
The nobles are warring each other for territory and wealth, and I am left with my family in the kingdom.
I won't dare to show mercy as long as I live, I believe in my daughter's story. I hope he achieves my dream.
"Unity already exists though...", Angel told himself.
He put down the diary at the table and only thought of resting himself.
At the roof, Lance and Malachi stood as they watched the moon.
"I wasn't expecting you here again.", Malachi chuckled.
"I am only fulfilling my duty of protecting the Moriarty bloodline.", Lance replied.
"How was his first day?", Malachi asked.
"I could tell that he was already taught, since he possessed knowledge that no purebloods possess.", Lance answered.
"I indeed taught him, but that was when we were in Japan. The fact that he still remembered it despite the events proves his worth as a genius.", Malachi stated.
"Just because he remembers a simple memory doesn't mean he's a genius.", Lance replied.
"It was also the cause of the bullying Angel went through back in Japan, they despised those who were far more intelligent than them.", Malachi said.
"I'll decide whether he is truly a genius since I'm the professor.", Lance stated.
"Suit yourself.", Malachi went away.
