Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Havana, Melanie and Skylar ran as fast as their legs could carry them, any direction far away from the warehouse was a safe direction.

"Guys..." Skylar gasped, "Let's wait here for a moment. I'm out of breath". Havana and Melanie stopped also to catch their breath.

"The warehouse incident...that was extreme" Havana said.

"Imagine if the police came and saw us surrounded by dead bodies" Skylar added.

"It was quite exciting, though the bodies were not dead...just injured" Melanie said.

"That's not helping Melanie. C'mon guys let's get home quickly" Havana said. As they walked, Havana kept on turning back to see if anyone was following them behind. She was scared, ever since she decided to accommodate Melanie it had been from one adventure to another. She had killed a caretaker in a graveyard! Even when Melanie said that the man deserved to die (as he would have killed them if she did not kill him) Havana still didn't feel safe as she always thought the man's ghost would appear one day and haunt her. Being with Melanie was like being with the Mafia and Havana didn't want such life...she'll talk to Skylar and Melanie about it.

"Wait up guys…where exactly is the way home?" Havana realised and asked.

"Don't worry about that, follow me" Melanie led them confidently, good thing she had Skylar's phone with her.

The casino boss pondered on the words of his cousin…

"She had no bodyguards with her, only two young ladies. I think she's living with them" His cousin had said earlier.

From the information his cousin told him it seemed like the girl ran away from home because there was no way she'd help those girls if she was kidnapped…but there was no news from the Sovereign Order mafia gang that their mafia princess was missing. He has finally hit the jackpot by making this discovery and Mr Marcelo might reward him.

"Hello Theodore can I get on the phone with Mr Marcelo?"

"Just a sec…"

"Who is this?"

"It's Richard, the casino owner…member of Black jocks Mafia. I know the location of your daughter!"

"What's that supposed to mean. I'm cutting this call" Lucas said impatiently.

"She's missing right?" He asked and the call was cut. Richard scratched his head…so much for getting a reward. Lucas didn't think much of his words and continued his work but Theo did. First, she was seen at the amusement park and now Richard is claiming to know her location…Is Melanie alright?

He knew it was not in his position to tell Lucas to call his daughter and ask of her well-being but he would try to convince him or probably do it secretly. Although Melanie was cold hearted and rude she cared about his well-being and family. Theodore had a bright future ahead of him and life was great till he got involved with loan sharks and nearly lost his life...It was Melanie who convinced her father to save him and he started working for them. At that time Melanie was just five but took it upon herself to see to his comfort. They both were close until he became Lucas' assistant and Brooklyn came into picture. Then Melanie was kidnapped one day and after being held captive for a month she never became the same.

"Brooklyn it's Theo. I just wanted to know how everyone is doing. What about Melanie I'd love to speak to her. Call me when you get this message" Theo whispered over voicemail.

After many walking and begging for directions, Havana, Skylar and Melanie finally made it back home in the early hours of the next day. They were all so tired and wanted to sleep but none of them could do say as they had somewhere to be. Skylar couldn't miss classes 'cause her attendance counted for the scholarship to remain valid, Melanie couldn't stay home because that day was when the 'fire-fighter' would come and check if she had started schooling and Havana owed Nolan a favour since his grandfather would be coming to check on the company.

Melanie groaned as she entered the bathroom to have a shower. She was so tired from yesterday's activities but she was happy and eager to go to school today. Havana had given her the permission to teach those idiots a lesson and she doesn't want to miss this opportunity.

"Havana!" Nolan said immediately he spotted Havana arriving at her desk. "How are you. Yesterday was..." He started.

"Stressful and life threatening but I'm a survivor. By the way I saw the housekey under the doormat, thank you" Havana said.

"How did you know it was me?" Nolan asked.

"It had your scent all over it and we have a CCTV at the door" Havana said and arranged her desk.

"About our discussion yesterday, my grandad had his flight delayed and is coming tomorrow. So we have a day ahead to prepare. I'll give you his info later. Also, i was wondering if...how do i put this....we should act like a couple for the staff to see. My grandad has his eyes and ears everywhere and i don't want to loose this company. I can pay you more" Nolan said and hoped Havana would agree. This few days Havana spent working there had been fruitful, she was like the good luck charm he had been hoping for. He chose her for her intelligence and zeal and her beauty, character was the cherry on top. He didn't love her, not even a crush but he hoped they could use this avenue to build a lasting friendship.

"I-I this is too much. What about when he leaves? We can't just break up immediately, it'll look suspicious" Havana said.

"We'll carry it on for a week, then fake a fight and break up" Nolan answered.

Melanie bounced into her class. She was dressed in a white shirt and brown shorts, her hair was packed into two buns. Of course she looked cute but her shirt wasn't tucked in and her bag was hanged on only one part of her shoulder giving her a gangster look altogether.

"Try me" Melanie whispered as she sat on her seat. Her classmates stared at her due to her wierd aura but none made a move to meet her.
