Chapter 135 - 135. Fired turul

True to his word, little Kamu didn't sleep much that night. It all started when he waited for night to fall completely on General Csito's camp. According to his observations, the place always started to get quiet after sunset, and by the time the designated people carried wood to the fire pits for the second time, most of the camp was already fast asleep.

The young Teike descendant then left their yurt and, using the practices he had learned from his parents and the ghost king ancestor, took to the camp. He knew exactly where he was going, not even far from their own yurt, but he still had to be careful not to be noticed.

During the afternoon, he heard a group of hegins talking about the fact that there was, as they said, "that bird" in one of the yurts and that if they didn't want to become accidental bird food, it was better to avoid that particular yurt as far as possible. As they said, "Only Csito and Etele can handle it." However, this did not stop Kamu from sneaking into the yurt now.

However, the poor boy almost fell out the door when a turul bird slammed into his chest. In the same moment the creature that had barely touched him, flew away and flew excitedly around the inside of the yurt before settling on a wooden platform that looked more like a vine.

"Táltos seven star." The bird suddenly spoke as it looked deeply into Kamu's eyes. However, the boy only narrowed his eyes and as quickly as he could, he appeared in front of the bird's beak and pressed his dagger to its throat.

"If you dare to say that tomorrow, I swear there will be fried turul for dinner, no matter how much dad likes you!" The child said in a surprisingly cold voice. The bird's eyes widened and it retreated.

"Little brother?" It tilted its head to the side.

"Only if you know your place and don't force me to kill you." Kamu put down his weapon, then turned around to leave the yurt.

"You seriously threatened a legendary turul bird? Why? You should be glad he said you could grow so strong!" Teike appeared growling next to Kamu, who was just escaping back to their own yurt.

"You have nothing to do with this!" Kamu snapped, as he also put himself away for the next day. He didn't explain himself to Teike, he didn't see the point in trying to tell him his reasons. No one needed to know that he was aware that he was more skilled than his twin brother.

Kamu had lived for a long time in a way that he considered his greatest joy to be when his siblings were happy, and Kele was always happiest when he learned something sooner than he did and then could show him how to do it properly. Therefore, young Kamu decided that he would always stay one step behind Kele, no matter what others thought of him because of it.

The next morning, the Teike children were eagerly awaited by their new father Etele at breakfast, when he told them that he would introduce them to a very important being that day. Of course, Kele and Keche were very excited about the event, but Kamu, despite his hard work last night, nervously followed Svihák when he led the children to that particular yurt after the sumptuous meal.

"And here he is, this is Riki." He introduced the bird to the children. "Riki will now tell you how strong you can become. And then you can pet him." Etele explained, then turned to the bird and spoke with a smile. "It's okay, my Riki, let's see what you think of your little brothers and sister?" Hearing the question, Riki slowly looked around the children.

"Solomonar two stars." He said looking at little Keche. "Solomonar seven stars." He looked at Kele as well, then finally turned to Kamu. There was silence for a few moments, when Riki opened its beak to speak. "Solomonar four stars." He announced.

"Well, that's very good! Thank you Riki, now if you want to you can pet it!" Etele offered, as a result of which the children of course immediately became enthusiastic. And the morning was spent in the company of the turul. In the afternoon the boys studied with Viktoria, and in the evening when the camp fell silent again, Kamu visited Riki.

"Where did you get that level from?" The little boy asked, scratching his head, and the bird moved its wings and then poked the feathers of its right wing with its beak.

"It's your current level." He announced and looked up at little Kamu, who smiled faintly.

"Thank you."_He said and nodded. "Good night, old turul." He chuckled as he hurried out of the yurt.

"All right!" Etele suddenly interrupted the story in the present. "That bird has no idea how fucking lucky it is!" The ghost folded his arms in front of him.

"Why?" Kamu blinked at his father.

"Because if he had dared to say that, he would really have had roasted turul for dinner, because I would pluck it myself!" The táltos growled.

*Come on, Svihák, don't be jealous." Razvan shook his head.

"Don't be jealous? Don't be jealous? You know what? We're not talking about this." The ghost wrinkled his nose.

"I don't know what you're so mad about. Grandpa, I think the táltos four star is a very good level." Rahul shrugged.

"Were you a táltos four star, Grandpa?" Citar's eyes widened, but the ghost just grimaced, then sighed.

"Only a táltos three star. I was just on the verge of four when I died." He confessed the truth. "Can we get back to the child?" He suddenly looked at Kamu. "So that ghost guy taught you some ancient language that the summoning circles appeared in front of me?"

"Yes." Kamu announced and continued to grin, mostly to hide his concern.

"What's the point of a language that no one understands?" Etele asked the question.

"They've understood it since then." Kamu shrugged. "It didn't have any point then, but now it's the secret language of the Immortal Mist." The ghost-man waved a hand.

"Prove it!" Etele grinned, and Kamu turned to Biaskoncy.

"Go and tell the others to prepare the great hall for the reception of guests." Kamu spoke, but words came out of his mouth that neither Etele nor the other hegins understood.

"You just want to sit on your throne, huh?" Biaskoncy blurted out the answer in the same language.

"You know me too well." Kamu chuckled, now answering in the common language, and Biaskoncy stood up and left the room.

"So where is the grumpy kid going?" Etele looked after the man, when he had already left the room.

"To prepare another room." Kamu announced, then stood up and pushed himself towards the back. "We should continue my story somewhere more comfortable. There is still a lot to go through and my legs are already numb." He shook both limbs one after the other. "So, who wants to see the great hall?" He grinned again and when the hegins started to enthusiastically approve he clapped his hands. "Right, then follow me! I'll show you the best place in our base!" He waved and when everyone stood up he started towards the door with the Athamanas and the two ghost relatives following him.
