"No," Thomas said. "Beatrice would kill me." He sighed. "Alexander, you are more powerful than you think. I would really like the title to stay in the Montgomery family."
"How about you stick around for a couple of weeks and show me the ropes, and I'll add Montgomery to my last name?" Alexander proposed. "If I do this, I'm having a new mansion built. You and Mom can stay in the old one. There are too many bad memories for Della there."
Thomas looked at Della with genuine sadness in his eyes. "I'm sorry for what you went through. Jaden needs help, and I'll see to it that he gets it—and that he never hurts you or Jax again."
"I appreciate that, Grand Alpha Thomas," Della said, looking puzzled when everyone snickered again. The Queen didn't need to address anyone by their title. "What? Oh, the hell with it. Alexander, I'm not feeling well. I'm going back to the room to lie down. Jax, you can spend more time with Grandpa Thomas later." Jax gave his grandpa a hug.
