Chapter 186 - Chapter 186: Club

The president's speech was one of those you could listen to or not, harshly put, it was the "sleep-inducing" segment that was basically just backround noise put into focus.

Once the entire sequence of the entrance ceremony was finished, the new students exited the venue in an orderly fashion.

After that, the entire street was packed with people, it was extremely crowded, full of various clubs recruiting new members and handing out flyers to the freshmen everywhere.

By the time both Uchiha Byakuya and Yoshimura Eto finished walking down the street, each of them had already received over twenty flyers, each of them from all sorts of different clubs.

For the time being, they simply sat down to rest in the cafeteria. Arima Kishou and Uruka Minami were sitting nearby as well.

"For university life, club activities are definitely essential. Take a look and see if there's any club you want to join. You can join more than one."

At this moment, Byakuya said.

He looked over the flyers he had received: there were anime clubs, tokusatsu clubs, music clubs, baseball clubs, dance clubs…all kinds of clubs, and even clubs related to ghouls and the TSC.

Things like the Ghoul Research Club, the TSC Enthusiasts Club, the Ghoul Investigator Club etc.

These were probably all founded by some fans interested in those subjects.

As of right now, thanks to the joint efforts of Byakuya and the members of the TSC, ghouls could finally receive relatively equal treatment on campus. This was still in the early stages, starting with universities in the Tokyo area.

Elementary schools, junior highs, and high schools hadn't started implementing this yet. After all, children weren't as mature as college students, their prejudice and fear toward ghouls tended to be much more severe.

At Kamii University, it wouldn't be surprising if some of the clubs related to ghouls actually had real ghouls as members.

"Indeed, since we're here to experience campus life, club activities are definitely not to be missed."

Eto nodded. "But at most, I'll join one or two. I won't have time if I join too many."

"Same for me. I'll probably choose one club related to ghouls, and another related to reading."

Minami said.

Then, she looked at Arima. "Kishou, do you have any clubs you're planning to join?"

"Probably the same as you. I also like reading."

Arima calmly replied.

"Come to think of it, our interests really are pretty similar. The top clubs we're all considering are either ghoul-related or literature-related."

Byakuya couldn't help but remark.

After picking through more than twenty club flyers, Byakuya and Eto finally selected two clubs.

One was the Ghoul Research Society, the other was the Literature Society.

Arima and Minami also chose the same two clubs as them.

To join a club, you either go directly to the club's activity room, or wait for the official club recruitment day.

They decided to go straight to the Ghoul Research Society first, with the flyer in hand.

For a club like this that probably didn't have many members, going straight to the activity room was the way to go.

Ghoul Research Society, Activity Room.

"I heard the TSC's Chairman Uchiha and the One-Eyed Owl have both come to our school, and they're even freshmen this year."

"I heard too. Also, one of the TSC's Dragon Generals and a Quasi-Dragon General as well, weren't they called the 'White Reaper' and 'Lantern'?"

"'White Reaper' and 'Lantern' are just their nicknames. I'm not really sure what their real names are."

"..."

The spacious Ghoul Research Society had only a few lonely members inside. The gender ratio was exactly 1:1, three boys and three girls.

Maybe it was because most of them were ghouls themselves that hardly anyone wanted to join this club.

At the moment, they were discussing the major news event that had taken place on campus today.

What was spreading the fastest and widest, of course, was the rumor that Byakuya and Eto had enrolled at Kamii University as freshmen this year.

"But then again, no matter what, it's not like they'd ever come to our club. The CCG Investigator Fan Club next door is pretty crowded. Compared to our place, I bet they'd rather go over there."

"Well, it can't be helped. Even though everyone's pushing for peaceful coexistence between humans and ghouls, our university still has a lot of students from outside Tokyo, even some international students."

"They can't accept ghouls that easily. The school can't push things too fast either. Meanwhile, that CCG Investigator Fan Club next door is still super popular, even though the CCG has already changed its name."

"Ah well, better not talk too much about other clubs. Let's just focus on our own. Anyway, we all passed out flyers today, right?"

"Yeah, all the flyers are gone. But no new students have come here so far. Looks like we're wasting our time again today..."

"..."

As they were discussing all sorts of things, there was suddenly a soft knock at the door.

They were all startled and sat up straight.

"A new student finally came? I wonder how many people?"

"Even one would be amazing. Though they might not even want to officially join the club."

One of the girls immediately stood up and went to open the door to welcome them.

"Welcome!"

As she opened the door, she instantly saw four people.

And they were the four people she least expected!

"Thank you."

Byakuya nodded slightly and stepped into the clubroom.

The girl at the door froze on the spot, it was exactly the reaction he expected.

After seeing Byakuya and the others' faces clearly, the rest of the club members were all completely stunned as well.

They had just said there was no way these people would come to their club, only for them to show up right afterward.
