Chapter 88 - Match 7: Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck (Pride) vs. Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (Wrath) (88)

The next fight would be a massacre... Well, maybe Nell would make it entertaining for people to watch. Grimmjow was strong, yes, but his power was still unrefined, while Nell had started to master hers.

Being able to partly turn on her Resurrección—like having her lance out while she herself remained in base form—required a lot of control over her power, yet she managed it.

The only thing she couldn't manage, though, was her authority. Depending on how great the order was, it drained her.

Granted, it was probably one of the most busted abilities Gabriel had handed out. However, it was still complex, which was why Gabriel would occasionally have Arrancar go to the human world to gather information.

Getting that info into their library meant that, hey, if someone wanted to get smarter, the library was there.

They even had a history of the kingdom section. Shit was new, but at least it existed. Currently, they were on their sixth edition. Each edition basically covered a year, and a volume would roughly have 50 to 100 editions. He wasn't sure yet.

Considering that unless killed, he couldn't die of old age, this kingdom would be here for a billion years. A billion years of being king... That seemed draining. Very much so.

Well, as long as he got to experiment, he would be fine.

Maybe finally open the gates of Hell and experiment with the beings inside.

Yes... Gabriel's released state allowed him access to Hellfire and a new pocket dimension that he could enter. And for some odd reason, he only had access to the first level, where the souls inside seemed weak... very weak. Like human souls, the weakest of humans. He barely saw any Shinigami in there.

That was where he placed his souls. So, heh, maybe he would get access to more levels where he could place more souls, and so on.

Meanwhile, with Grimmjow and Nell—

Nell had a removed expression on her face. She had just lost a fight. Even if it was to Harribel, she had wanted to last a bit longer against her.

She was disappointed in her strength. Hm. She would get stronger, and she would succeed.

She would get stronger.

Her gaze seemed rather cold as she looked at Grimmjow.

The other Arrancar seemed annoyed at her. It felt like she was looking down on him.

"You're looking down on me, aren't you?" Grimmjow snarled, baring his teeth like a rabid beast.

Nelliel tilted her head slightly, her expression unreadable. "No, I simply see no reason to be concerned."

BZZZT—BOOM!

Grimmjow launched at her, claws out and everything. He wanted to rip her eyes out. How dare she not go all out against him?

She hadn't even turned around, which meant his attack had a solid chance to land.

And then—

WHAM.

She held his hand. She had grabbed it while it was coming for her face. She looked rather done with everything, as if this was just a mild annoyance to her.

CRACK!

That was the sound of the bones in his hand cracking under the might of her terrifying grip.

He would not make a face. He would 100% not make a face.

Nelliel slammed him into the ground.

"This is disappointing," she said calmly before slamming him down again. As the Sin of Wrath lay on the floor, the sole of her foot touched his face.

"I am impervious to damage."

As he tried to attack her, his hand actually cracked when making contact with her skin.

Her Hierro was that strong.

Fuck that.

He opened his mouth and fired at full power.

"CERO!"

As the Cero came toward her, she sighed, opening her mouth. She swallowed the Cero before firing it back at him with twice the force.

Kaboom!

Nell hadn't drawn her blade yet. From the smoke and debris, a terrifying pressure could be felt from Grimmjow. He was not about to go 0-2. Hell nah. He would not go out sorry.

His energy flared violently, his Reiatsu distorting the air. "Then how about you shut up and fight for real, huh?!"

Nelliel sighed. "Very well."

BZZZT—BOOM!

"Grind, Pantera!"

His body erupted with power, his form elongating as his Resurrección took hold. Muscles expanded, claws extended, and his wild blue hair became even more feral.

A deep, guttural growl rumbled from his throat as he crouched low, his predatory gaze locked onto Nelliel.

Then—

BZZZT—BOOM!

Nelliel simply tilted her head to the side.

This was way too easy for her to see. His moves were getting faster, yes, but she could still track them.

His ability was simple: he became the apex predator, and whoever he fought became the prey. The longer he fought them, the more he developed to become their perfect predator. For example, if someone used an illusion skill that required eyesight, he would lose his sight entirely, and in exchange, all his other senses would increase a hundredfold. He wouldn't "see" in the traditional sense anymore—he would just perceive Reishi.

If someone's whole ability was, let's say, fire, he would become hella resistant to fire, or fire attacks would make him stronger.

That was his authority... however—

"My attacks ignore Hierro defense."

THWACK.

Nelliel elbowed him in the stomach.

The force was monstrous. Grimmjow's entire body caved inward, a shockwave bursting from his back as if he had just been shot by a cannon.

"Kuh—!"

The changes weren't instant; they took time. A decent amount of time. So, as long as someone could constantly switch prey—i.e., reset his progress—or beat him before he adapted too much, they would be fine.

And this was why, currently, he lay on the floor, flat on his ass.

He had been one-shotted.

Now, she just needed to win another fight to be in third place. Two wins, one loss.

Belial was probably going to win his next match, so she would fight him.

Grimmjow would beat Yammy and Aaroniero.

So his record would be: 2 wins, 2 losses.

Aaroniero would probably beat Yammy.

So, 1 win, 3 losses for Aaroniero.

And Yammy?

4 losses, 0 wins.

The rankings were basically already decided in her mind. Now all that was left was seeing who was stronger—Ulquiorra or Harribel.

A/N….this seem fair
