Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Burning

Hot blood surged rapidly through his veins. As First Gear reached its limit, an overwhelming power burst forth uncontrollably from Bellamy's body.

With a heavy stomp, Bellamy vanished.

"So fast!" Eggert couldn't even catch a glimpse of Bellamy's afterimage.

Just as Eggert's body was about to hit the ground, Bellamy appeared below him.

"Die!"

His legs, reconstructed into a double-curved structure, unleashed their full power, slamming into Eggert's stomach.

Accompanied by a sharp sonic boom, Bellamy's right foot sank deep into a mass of fat. The terrifying acceleration of the kick nearly ripped the surrounding air apart.

A dreadful shockwave was forcibly blasted into Eggert's body. Red Flame Eggert's stomach immediately exploded, an indescribable pain instantly spreading through his entire being.

What does it feel like to have a giant hole blown through your stomach? This level of pain far exceeded anything a human could endure. No human could endure such agony.

The instant the pain hit, Eggert fainted, but the next moment, something even more terrible happened. He was jolted awake by the sheer, excruciating pain.

"Argh! Arghhhhhhh!" Eggert let out a series of hysterical screams.

But it did nothing to alleviate the pain he was suffering.

The residual force, unable to dissipate within his body, carried him flying backwards, soaring straight into the sky. Countless globules of fat and blood sprayed from the gaping wound, creating another rain of fat.

"He's not dead yet!"

The thick layers of fat had absorbed a significant portion of the impact. Bellamy could sense that Eggert was only severely injured, not dead. The Fat-Fat Fruit user's ability to absorb damage was not inferior to that of the Spring-Spring Fruit or the Gum-Gum Fruit. Red Flame's domination of the North Blue was indeed not to be underestimated.

"Then let's try again."

This fat was incredibly troublesome. After just one kick, Bellamy was covered in the disgusting substance. Now, all it would take was a single spark to turn him into a human torch. He absolutely couldn't allow Eggert a chance to counterattack.

With a forceful push off the ground with his toes, Bellamy shot forward like a cannonball.

The torrent of blood and fat rained down on him, but he neither dodged nor blocked. He inverted his body mid-air and unleashed another kick.

A vacuum slash shot out from his foot, slicing through the air and pushing all the debris to the sides. After rapidly kicking off the air dozens of times, Bellamy flipped again, positioning himself above Eggert.

"It's over."

"Tempest Kick: Vacuum Orb."

A rapidly rotating, small vacuum sphere suddenly appeared beneath his foot. And the target of this Vacuum Orb was none other than Eggert's head.

The aura of death instantly enveloped the entire sky.

From the start of the battle, Eggert had been relentlessly bombarded by Bellamy's continuous attacks, giving him no chance to breathe. Even now, he still couldn't understand why his enemy had come.

But it seemed to matter little now. Eggert could feel that he was about to die. This sudden opponent gave him absolutely no opportunity, pushing him into an inescapable desperate situation with an unceasing, ferocious assault.

But fortunately, fortunately, he wasn't completely helpless.

The small vacuum sphere pierced through everything in its path, silently sinking into his head.

In the last instant of his fading consciousness, Eggert laughed with unrestrained glee.

"Let's die together!"

Before his words even finished, Eggert's life signs vanished completely.

Simultaneously, the self-destruct device hidden deep within his layers of fat detonated with a thunderous roar.

Completely unprepared, Bellamy was engulfed in a cloud of fire. He instinctively raised his arms to shield his upper body, but the burning fire cloud still completely ignited him.

A human torch plummeted rapidly from the sky. Ross, who was hurrying towards the scene, happened to witness this.

"The battle seems to be over."

"Bepo, hurry up."

Trafalgar Law was a very complex individual.

He had once fallen into the depths of hell, only to be pulled back out by a certain man. To cure his terminal illness, that man had been killed by Doflamingo. Because of this, Law harbored an intense hatred for Doflamingo, vowing to kill him one day.

He later drifted to Swallow Island, where he met a teacher who changed his life, guiding him onto the path of "goodness." Under his mentor's guidance, Law, who was born into a family of doctors, made becoming an excellent physician his lifelong dream. If not for the deep-seated hatred between him and Doflamingo, he might not have chosen to set sail, but instead become an outstanding doctor.

"Law, look! There's someone on fire over there!" The white bear, Bepo, pointed towards an open area ahead, shouting suddenly.

Law followed his finger and immediately saw the burning figure.

"Burned to this extent… he's probably beyond saving."

His Op-Op Fruit was powerful, but even he couldn't save a charred corpse.

Just as Law thought the burning man was doomed, a frantic shout came from the forest in the distance.

"Captain, are you alright?!"

"Everyone, come help!"

It was Mia and the others, who had just arrived.

"Stay back, all of you."

Just because his entire body was on fire didn't mean Bellamy had lost his ability to fight.

Stopping his crew from approaching, he punched a large crater in the ground with a single blow, then quickly buried himself inside. Deprived of oxygen, the raging flames immediately weakened. Before long, the fire on Bellamy's body was completely extinguished.

But having been burned for so long, a large portion of his skin was severely damaged. Fortunately, Bellamy had protected his upper body in time, so the injuries weren't life-threatening.

"I miscalculated. I didn't expect him to have that kind of trick up his sleeve."

Bellamy hadn't anticipated that Red Flame had a final, mutual-destruction move. He'd relaxed the moment Red Flame Eggert had died. This time, his injuries were well-deserved.

It was just that the burns on his body were a bit tricky to deal with. Burns were very serious injuries; even with his constitution, if not treated properly, they would leave behind a lot of unsightly scars. And to make matters worse, he hadn't brought the ship's doctor with him this time. Mia was just a half-trained witch doctor; she couldn't handle injuries like these.

"We need to get back quickly."

"Hsss…" Bellamy moved his body slightly, and a wave of intense pain shot through him.

The aftereffects of the burns were starting to appear. He knew that this agonizing pain would come in waves, relentlessly assaulting his pain receptors.

"Captain, are you okay?!"

Mia ran up to him, her hands trembling as she reached out to touch his skin. Bellamy's current state frightened her.

"It's just a minor injury. What are you shaking for?"

It really was just a superficial wound. Seeing Mia's panicked reaction, Bellamy sighed.

"Don't make that face just because I'm a little hurt. It's like you think I'm about to die."

"Go, get me a stretcher," he ordered Ross with a flick of his finger.

Just then, an unfamiliar voice came from nearby. "Injuries like these aren't suitable for lying on a stretcher."

"Who's there?" There were outsiders here? Bellamy's group was startled and quickly looked in the direction of the voice.

A man wearing a spotted hat, carrying a strange long sword, slowly walked out.

"I'm a doctor. Do you need treatment?"

"You're… Law?"

Law was somewhat surprised. Someone here actually knew him.

"I remember you. Weren't you studying medicine with Mr. Wolff on Swallow Island?"

Mia was from Swallow Island and had studied medicine with Dr. Wolff for a few days. She had a slight impression of this perpetually cold-faced boy.

"You're… Miss Mia?" Law also remembered who she was.

"What are you doing here?"

Realizing they were acquaintances, the atmosphere immediately relaxed.

"We can talk about that later. Help our captain treat his injuries first!"

Mia was genuinely worried. She dashed over to Law with a Shave, grabbing his hand and pulling him back.

Only when his hand was grasped did Law snap out of it. "Such speed."

He'd only seen a blur, and Mia's hand was already on his.

Law's pupils contracted slightly as he carefully observed Bellamy's group. It was then that he noticed the man he'd initially thought was beyond saving was now calmly smoking a cigar, looking at him leisurely.

"Doesn't it hurt?"

At least 75% of his body was burned. With injuries this severe, shouldn't he be in agony? Law couldn't help but ask.

"I'm not made of iron. Of course it hurts."

Bellamy grinned at him. "But the pain doesn't stop me from enjoying a cigar to relax."

"Your name is Law, right?" Bellamy asked, even though he already knew the answer. "I'll leave my injuries to you."

"Leave it to me."

With injuries this severe, even if she entrusted them to her companion, Muret, Mia wouldn't feel at ease. She'd pulled Law over, intending for him to find a way to alleviate the captain's pain.

But listening to their conversation, she felt like something was slightly off.
