Mirelah;
I cautiously peek back out from behind the rock, and my heart seizes in my chest when I see that the creature is still there.
And this time, it's not searching. It's staring… Right at me.
I feel my heart drop into my stomach as the creature slowly opens its mouth and lets out a long exhale like it's emptying its lungs. Like a silent scream.
My heart starts pounding as I realize that might be a signal. Like it just alerted something much worse of my presence.
I move back cautiously, and just then, the ground starts shaking beneath me. I look at the forest behind the creature and it's vibrating. Like something huge… or an army is running through it.
I watch the trees begin to groan and twist, and my heart explodes in fear.
That's it.
My cue to leave.
I turn around, grab my bag, bow, and quiver, and when I look back behind me, my heart fails me when I see more like the creature coming out of the forest.
There's five of them now.
