Countless monstrosities swarmed towards Ben, wanting to block his path. Leading the charge was that sheriff!
Ben was furious at these annoying flies, and his attacks became more merciless. He slammed down with his palm.
"Bang!"
The air exploded with the force of his strike! The sheriff's head, along with the upper half of his body, instantly turned into a cloud of blood mist, with scraps splattering everywhere! Only his legs remained.
What undead body? What weakness only in the head? To Ben, it was all the same!
Right now, his Strength attribute was 300 points, 30 times that of an average person. What kind of concept is this? It meant that ordinary flesh and blood were as fragile as paper in front of him. A casual strike from Ben could obliterate a monster.
However, there were still too many monsters surrounding him, and they were all rushing towards Ben. He had no interest in dealing with these monsters; he only wanted to quickly kill the Earl to avoid any unforeseen consequences. Once he destroyed the Earl, he could return to clean up these insignificant creatures.
"Thump!"
The ground collapsed as Ben exerted force with his legs, propelling himself high into the air. He broke free from the encirclement in an instant!
This move was highly effective. As he landed, the monsters were already far behind him. Without looking back, Ben transformed into a thunderbolt and charged after the fleeing Earl.
The Earl's running speed was astonishing—an enhanced version of a cheetah. In the blink of an eye, he was gone...
Jiang Tao, Robert, and the others stood frozen in shock. With Ben no longer their target, the monsters turned their scarlet gazes toward Mark Wood and the others. The sacrifice had not ended yet! If they couldn't complete it soon and anger the Moon God's Family, they would be doomed.
Seeing this, Robert roared, "Prepare for battle!"
Leo quickly said, "We'll hold on for a while. Ben will be back soon!!"
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone's spirits were lifted. Previously, despair and grief had filled their hearts, but now, with the thought of Ben's power and violent nature, hope surged through them. Hold on for a little while longer, and when he returned, there would be salvation!
An Indian man even laughed aloud, "Hurry up, guys! Kill as many monsters as you can while we have the chance. When that man returns, we won't have any share in the spoils…"
…
A few minutes later, the group fighting the monsters heard a howl coming from the city.
"Awoo—"
The sound was chillingly penetrating, but this time, the Earl's cry lacked its previous might. Instead, it was full of agony and misery...
After a while, Ben returned from the city, appearing before everyone. His hands were carrying things.
In his right hand was a massive battle blade, which he had casually taken from an ironware shop during his passage. His left hand held the severed head of a monster—the dignified Earl!
Even with just a head, the Earl monster was still alive, its unseeable eyes staring unblinkingly at Ben. It seemed like it wanted to speak, but Ben didn't give it the chance. He casually tossed the head onto the ground and stomped on it.
"Bang!"
The monster's head exploded, like a rotten watermelon, spilling black brain matter across the ground.
This time, the Earl monster was finally dead!
Ben also received a prompt about the mission's progress. But instead of being pleased, he looked disgusted. His shoes were dirty…
He rubbed his foot on the ground, but when he realized he couldn't clean it off, he simply ignored it. Anyway, once he left the spirit realm, it would automatically clean his shoes.
Ben looked at the remaining monsters and raised the battle blade in his right hand. He had brought it to harvest the monsters! After all, fists weren't as sharp as blades.
That night, he would slaughter all the monsters in the city, making the spirit realm flow with blood!
…
An hour later, thousands of monsters at the city gate were slaughtered!
The ground was covered with blood and corpses. Blood soared into the sky! The monsters whose bodies were severed at the waist were the lucky ones. The more unfortunate ones were sliced in half, from head to toe, by Ben's blade.
Ben's swordsmanship wasn't particularly impressive—it could even be described as chaotic. But it didn't matter!
He had incredible strength!
With a single slash, gods would fall, and demons would be slain!
What the Indian man had said earlier was true. Once Ben took action against the monsters, there was no longer any hope for the others. It only took an hour for him to kill thousands of monsters!
The others, including Jiang Tao, Robert, and the others, couldn't help but swallow nervously. They were afraid Ben might be so blinded by bloodlust that he might attack them too...
"Ben!" Leo shouted, finally pulling Ben out of his killing trance.
"Huh? Leo, are you guys injured?"
"We're fine, but we were worried about you…"
"Worried about me?" Ben smiled. "What could possibly happen to me?"
And then, holding the battle blade, he continued murderously, "Let's go. There should still be more monsters in the city. Let's go and destroy them!"
"Ben!!" Leo suddenly shouted loudly.
Ben was stunned and asked, "Leo, what's wrong?"
"You've killed enough! Put down the blade!" Leo said softly, concern filling his eyes. She was genuinely afraid Ben might be affected mentally by all the killing. This kind of situation wasn't uncommon in the spirit realm.
"Enough?" Ben looked around and saw the corpses scattered all over the ground. Only then did he realize that he had killed so many monsters without even noticing.
Before, he had been somewhat blinded by the thrill of battle, but now, he could see clearly.
"Yes! The rewards of the spirit realm have an upper limit. You've already exceeded the highest reward. Killing any more monsters will not increase your rewards," Leo explained as she walked toward Ben.
When she stood before him, Leo gently took the blade from his hands.
Seeing her pretty face filled with worry, Ben smiled. He cooperated and handed the blade to her. "Don't worry! Leo, I was affected a little, but now I'm fine."
"That's good." Leo nodded. "You've been fighting for so long. You must be tired. Let's rest for a while before heading somewhere else."
The others gathered at the nearby tavern to rest.
As they left, two groups of transcendents quietly approached the city gate. The commotion had been too intense earlier, and they had been too afraid to come closer. Only when the noise died down did they dare to investigate.
When they arrived and saw the scene at the city gate, everyone was struck with shock and horror.
The ground was full of deep pits, and the city was littered with monster corpses. Blood flowed like a river, and the sight resembled an infernal hell!
"What… what happened here?" one of them whispered in disbelief.
