Chapter 45: Benched

Authors note: Seems like the fanbase is slowly dying guys. Please do interact since it motivates me to write! What do you guys think of the Weapon Style I am creating? I have a lot of plans for it.

"Hiruzen! This type of behavior cannot be allowed!" Danzo shouted as he heard Naido's report to The Hokage and the 2 village Elders.

"Yes." Koharu stated her own opinion, "If we allow this to pass, our ninja will think it is okay for them to make their own decisions."

"A Ninja's job is to obey the orders of the higher ups without questions asked." Homura also stated.

"What do you think, Naido?" Hiruzen ignored the council and turned to Naido's opinion.

"I think while wrong, a young ninja should not be punished for what has already been done. Instead we should allow him to learn from his mistake."

"That's all well and good, until this action sets a precedent for all Ninja to begin disobeying us!" Danzo shouted with anger.

"Hiruzen, send this kid to Root! I heard he has figured out how to open the 6th inner gate and is talented in elemental ninjutsu! I will be able to straighten him out."

At that, the atmosphere of the meeting changed a little.

Danzo also realized what he had just said, since at one point it had become second nature for him to ask for every talented shinobi.

The 4 people in the meeting stared at Naido calmly, waiting for his response.

He wasn't called the Mad Monk for no reason after all.

"My student will not be joining root." Naido stated clearly to which the 4 elders of the village didn't say anything.

"I wish to ask something, Lord Hokage." Naido questioned.

"Speak your mind Naido, you have earned at least this."

"I wish to know what you intend to do with the 2 tails."

Hiruzen paused for a moment and then sighed.

"Typically after a Jinchuriki is captured, there would be a negotiation with the opposing Nation to send the Jinchuriki back and we get some things in return…"

Naido's face turned into a visible scowl when he heard that.

"Please understand." Koharu said, "If we keep the 2 tails, the Leaf will be considered a massive threat and all Nations in the world will attack us."

"So let them." Naido stated calmly.

"War is not a good thing."

"I have played the good soldier my whole life." Naido stated calmly. "I was also promised vengeance by this very council. I have gotten my first step and you already wish to take back your word."

"That is because this is too unreasonable!" Danzo said as he slammed the table, "I am all for weakening the enemy, but this will make it so the whole world will aim to kill us."

"And I don't give a shit. I will not rest until she and the Raikage are dead. I will not let the woman who killed my parents remain alive!" Naido stated with anger as he stared down the council.

"So what is it? Do I go ahead and contact the Akatsuki?"

"YOU DARE THREATEN US?! RIGHT IN THE PRESENCE OF THE HOKAGE?!" Homura screamed.

"I dare do as I please. You old folk sit in your ivory palace and have us do your work for you while you enjoy the fruits of our labor.

You let my parents die all because the cloud asked for some land for their lives!

You're lucky I don't kill you right now."

"You destroyed everything in the vicinity of that land anyway." One of them murmured.

"Because it will forever be a reminder for you that I could destroy you if I wanted to. I guess that reminder wasn't enough."

"Now that's enough." Hiruzen said, calming everyone down a little.

"I promise you we will not send the 2 tails back." Hiruzen said, making his choice.

"Alright, then I have a proposition. Let my student take it as a Jinchuriki."

"Well that can be negotiated….if your student can join the Anbu."

(MC pov)

"So you are alright?"

"Yes, I have recovered almost completely too."

Yuki and I were walking out of the hospital, since we both recovered relatively quickly. It seemed like players healed ever so slightly faster than normal people.

"What is the plan now? Didn't you lose the tailed beast? Will there be repercussions?" Yuki questioned as we reached our normal training grounds.

We didn't have an opportunity to discuss these things during our trip back towards the village since most of the time we were traveling at top speed at different locations.

"Well, long story short, I don't think so. Anyways, we should be focusing on you now." I told Yuki to which he nodded a little.

We were still at war, and while we were given some leeway, we would definitely be deployed soon.

And at that time, I needed Yuki to complete his mission.

"Also, I was able to record the mission we just had…did you do the same?" Yuki asked me, to which I remembered the new service by the game.

I had also managed to record the entire mission, and according to the developers I would be able to use the AI to then edit it extremely quickly.

"I…don't think it's a smart idea to release a fight of this scale yet." I told Yuki.

I was unaware if the top players were aware of the Akatsuki, but the lower leveled ones definitely did not know them.

Information was vital to survival in this world.

Maybe in the future a couple of weeks down the line I could upload this.

But for now, I didn't intend to upload it.

"Makes sense." Yuki nodded, as we then spent some time discussing his potential pathway of power.

He also promised to research a lot more regarding the current bloodlines of this world, so that he could pick a proper one when the time came for him to choose.

And after Yuki had left, I decided to open something which I had not had the chance to do until now.

-Elite Chat-

[Ghost: Seems like we have a new member, and it seems like you aren't from the top guilds]

Why did this guy seem so sure that I was not a member of the guilds?

[K.O.F: And what makes you so sure of that?]

[Ghost: Because we have to disclose the exact number of Jonins we have inside of our Guilds to Ranger Tech]

Reading that, I couldn't help but frown…what?

[Ghost: With the amount of resources it takes to enter the Elite-Chat, you would have to be either a Guildmaster or a Vice, yet not reports were sent to Ranger]

I didn't reply, soaking in the information I had just been told…it seemed clear that Ranger Tech knew from the Jonin rank, substantial change would happen.

And obviously, only one thing changed inside of this rank.

Gaining a bloodline…

Also, the stronger one became inside of the game, the stronger their bodies in the outside world slowly adapted.

I was able to feel that over the last few days in the real world…

So it seems like the Jonin rank was a threshold for Ranger Tech to start taking notice of you, and thus made all Major Guilds provide information regarding their numbers to them…

But since when did Gamers have to comply with such information to the Game masters?

[Ghost: How about I give you an opportunity?"]

[K.O.F: And what opportunity is that?]

[Ghost: Join my guild]

"So, for the time being, Shikomu, you are to stay inside the Village Hidden in the Leaves until further notice." Naido sensei informed me as he looked at our squad.

Wow…not only did I not get promoted, but I got benched.

Thanks a lot Danzo…greedy bastard.

"Yuki and Ayumi. You both will follow me on a mission to the Land of Water for now. We move in an hour." Naido sensei informed us as he moved away from our training area.

"Make sure you guys finish your Personal Mission. After that, pick a proper bloodline. It would have been better if I was there to support you, but we make do." I informed the two.

"Ayumi," I continued, "Make sure to ask Yuki for advice when picking your bloodline. Don't pick something you are unsure off…"

After giving some instructions, the two of them eventually left to pack for their mission.

Sigh…seems like I had to train to kill some time here.

"Are you Shikomu?" I heard a voice all out to me from my side, after Ayumi and Yuki had left.

I turned my head to see someone who I was familiar with because of the show, but I had yet to see until now.
