Chapter 42 - 42-En Sabah Nur

Egypt — one of the oldest civilizations in the world. The place that gave birth to Apocalypse, the "first" mutant.

Now, when I arrived here, I very much expected this place to be ruled by Apocalypse... but...

"What the fuck? Where is Apocalypse? How come no one knows about him? Are we too early?"

[Indeed, Master. There was no exact time specified. I think Apocalypse, or En Sabah Nur, might just be with the desert nomads who adopted him... or maybe he isn't even born yet.]

"It would suck if he isn't even born..."

[Well, if he is with the nomads, then we are looking in the wrong place. Instead of the largest settlement in Egypt, we should start with Akkaba, where he was born. We should also look for nomadic raider groups. We can try to gather information about Baal of the Crimson Sand, who adopted him. Once we find them, it would be easy to identify En Sabah Nur by his distinct appearance.]

"Hmmm... if I remember correctly, he even encountered Kang the Conqueror, whom I definitely don't want to meet yet... We need to act with caution. Let's have Freyja and Sersi wait here while we search for Apocalypse as fast as possible. I don't want to interact with him, just collect some of his blood samples from afar and then leave. Since he would establish himself as a god here, no need to turn the Egyptians into my believers — Apocalypse would most likely ban any other religion."

[Yes, Master. You are correct. Turning the Egyptians into your followers would indeed be a waste of time. You could much rather start your hidden civilization project sooner than waste time here.]

"Alright then."

"Ladies, change of plans. We are not gonna stay here in Egypt," I said, turning to Freyja and Sersi.

"Good. I did not like the desert anyway. It's too hot here. I prefer cold climates more. I don't understand why these humans would want to build a nation here; the climate is really not suitable for living."

Alright, alright, I agree it's much hotter than what we are used to...But she's a goddess — this much heat is like... nothing at all.

"Umm, okay. You guys can stay here for a while. I have something important to do, so I'll make a comfortable resting place for you both. It'll take me less than a day, so wait here, okay?" I asked them, but I wasn't about to take no for an answer.

I raised my hand and created a small but cozy Lego block-looking structure, well-furnished and comfortable from the inside, for Freyja and Sersi to rest in.

"Okay, you can rest here until then. I'm putting up a shield across to protect you both," I said, creating a shield covering the house. Now I could search for En Sabah Nur peacefully.

First, I went into Merimde Beni Salama, the largest settlement of Egypt, and headed to the most prominent merchant there.Since I didn't want to waste time, I put everyone around me into an illusion, approached the merchant, and placed my hand on his head.

"Raph, search his memories. Check if we can find anything about Akkaba or Baal of the Crimson Sand."

[Yes, Master. Starting detailed search.][Search complete.][Details about the settlement of Akkaba found. However, the merchant has only heard the name of Baal of the Crimson Sand and knows nothing substantial. Results about him are purely speculative, judged on his perceived area of action.]

"Alright, nevermind. We'll first leave for Akkaba; we can find out more about Baal if needed."

[Yes, Master. Sending details about Akkaba.]

Receiving the information about Akkaba, I directly opened a portal there, and the next instant, I was there. Now — time to find En Sabah Nur.

Akkaba was a settlement where the tribe called the Sandstormers dwelled — the tribe from which Apocalypse originated.

Again, to keep things simple, I first found out who the chief of the Sandstormers was and had Raph read all his memories.

I found that Apocalypse had indeed already been born — which was good — but he had been abandoned by the Sandstormers over a year ago due to his grey-skinned appearance.Next came information about Baal, which was much more detailed compared to the merchant's knowledge, since Baal and his nomadic raiders were active around this area and had fought with the Sandstormers several times before.

After learning the approximate location of Baal of the Crimson Sand, instead of opening a gate, I simply started flying toward it at full speed.

"Ugh, I really need flying ability. Using spells to fly isn't that good... Raph, when will the research on Ikaris's ability be completed?"

[Almost done, Master. It will be completed in just a few more days, along with the rest of the Eternals' abilities — completely turned into Aesir abilities. You could even grant them to others if you wish.]

"That's good. So, do you think getting Apocalypse's genes would be easy?"

[As easy as it could be, Master. En Sabah Nur was abandoned just a year ago, meaning he's just a child now. Baal and his Nomadic Raiders are just ordinary humans. There is no one who can put up a fight at all. You can collect whatever samples you want.]

"Alright. Found them."

There they were — the ones I was looking for.

"Mists of Illusory Sleep,"I used a spell covering the entire settlement of the nomadic raiders. This was a potent spell, mixed with my Divinity of Life — causing sure and certain sleep, along with a powerful illusion so no one would notice anything.

The spell was strong enough to put even En Sabah Nur into a deep sleep. As I approached the tent of Baal, the leader of the settlement, I soon found Apocalypse — the future mutant god — now just an ugly freak adopted by the nomads, sleeping on the floor.

Alright, time to take some genetic samples...Well, Apocalypse is definitely the best mutant to take genes from.If I want to replicate mutant abilities, then who better for it than En Sabah Nur?

"So Raph, I want completely detailed research, leaving nothing about him unexplored. What all samples should I take? Don't concern yourself about Apocalypse — just tell me whatever is needed that won't permanently disable him, and I'll collect them all."

[Well, considering your Life Divinity, I am pretty sure you can heal him from whatever happens to him. But as you desire, you can collect:

Bone marrow — to unlock the regenerative blueprint.

Full thickness skin — to study his durability/molecular defense (optional).

Blood — to study his mutation.

Neural tissue — to understand power control and mind.

Organ biopsy — to study full-body superhuman traits.

All these would help in a quick, complete analysis of Apocalypse. Though, honestly, just a blood sample or even an energy sample would do.]

"Nah. Since we have him here, let's not take shortcuts. Let's take every sample we need. Anyway, it's not like he's some good guy. With these samples, how sure are you that we can create and then change mutant abilities into Aesir powers?"

[It would be far too simple, Master. Just collect the samples and leave the rest to me.]

"Alright. Time to collect some samples then."
