Chapter 186 - Star-Lord—So I'm Really Not Human? The Light of Hope!

Inside the activity cabin, Aaron briefly explained his purpose for being there.

He also provided a detailed explanation of the Magic Net, its existence, and its functions.

Upon hearing about the Magic Net, everyone present was taken aback.

It was difficult for them to comprehend that such a thing existed—

A network capable of absorbing energy, feeding back magic power, and enhancing one's strength.

This revelation shook their worldview and completely overturned their understanding of power.

Although both technology and magic coexisted in the universe, the common people were far more exposed to technological advancements.

Their knowledge of magic was minimal.

Even Star-Lord, a well-informed Ravager, and Gamora, who had followed Thanos for years, had never imagined that such a method of strengthening oneself existed.

"Does connecting to the Magic Net require any special conditions? For example..."

Rocket raised his paw hesitantly.

"There are no conditions," Aaron replied. "Even a tree can connect, as long as it's a living being with an independent life structure."

He could tell what Rocket was worried about—

Whether his raccoon body could handle the magic power.

But there was no need for concern.

If a free-moving tree-like being like Groot, or even a stone-based lifeform like a Titan, could wield magic, then a raccoon certainly could.

That's the power of the mystical arts.

Do mysterious things really need to be explained?

"I'm Groot!" Groot exclaimed.

Rocket smirked and patted Groot's foot. "Yeah, yeah, no need to ask—of course it includes you, you overgrown twig."

"If I connect to the Magic Net, will I be able to defeat Ronan?"

Drax leaned forward, his interest piqued.

At that moment, all Aaron had to do was say "yes," and Drax would immediately demand a connection—then rush off to exact his revenge.

Ronan had slaughtered his family under Thanos' orders.

Yet, the most infuriating part wasn't even that—

It was that Ronan didn't even remember doing it.

To Ronan, Drax's family was nothing more than collateral damage in his bloody crusade.

He had killed countless people, so many that he couldn't possibly remember them all.

For Ronan, Drax was just another faceless victim.

And that reality burned Drax to his core.

His defeat in battle had only fueled his rage further.

Aaron, however, shattered his illusion of immediate revenge.

"Impossible," he said flatly. "Not unless you quickly increase your authority level and gather enough energy."

Even though Ronan was insignificant in Aaron's eyes, his power was still formidable compared to most.

He could even take on the Hulk in a fight.

And now, with the Power Stone, he had become even stronger.

A newly connected Magic Net user wouldn't stand a chance.

Unless, of course, they were incredibly talented or ridiculously lucky.

But Drax the Destroyer?

Yeah... not one of those people.

Even if he connected to the Magic Net, his reckless nature and lack of strategy meant he wouldn't last long against Ronan.

Besides—

"You won't have the chance to take revenge on Ronan," Aaron said, his voice calm.

"He took something that doesn't belong to him. He won't live for much longer."

Drax stiffened. "Then... who will take him down?"

Aaron's eyes flickered.

"Maybe you should set your sights on Thanos instead."

Hearing how little Aaron thought of Ronan, Star-Lord couldn't help but speak up.

"But... he has the Power Stone! He could wipe out an entire planet with ease!"

Aaron remained unfazed.

"And? Is that supposed to be impressive?"

His expression didn't change in the slightest.

"The Power Stone is strong."

"But Ronan? He's weak."

Then, without skipping a beat—

"In fact, maybe you could beat him just by dancing in front of him."

"...Huh?"

If Aaron's earlier words made them feel uneasy—

That last sentence made them feel outright confused.

"Hahahaha! Star-Lord can defeat Ronan with a dance?! Oh, that's the best joke I've ever heard!" Rocket burst out laughing.

"I'm Groot!" Groot chimed in.

"Drax," Rocket snickered, "why didn't Star-Lord just dance in front of Ronan sooner? We could've saved ourselves a lot of trouble!"

Rocket was mocking.

Drax, on the other hand, looked dead serious.

"Perhaps we should test this theory," he said thoughtfully.

That made Star-Lord uncomfortable.

Gamora's piercing gaze didn't help.

Was Aaron serious?

Was his dancing actually that powerful?

Should he... find someone to test it on later?

"Alright, enough of that," Aaron cut in.

"There's something more important I need to tell you."

His gaze locked onto Star-Lord.

"Peter Quill," he said, "you carry the genes of a god—but they have yet to awaken."

"I suggest you investigate your origins carefully."

"Once you connect to the Magic Net, you'll begin to sense this power."

Star-Lord froze.

"...God genes?"

"Are you saying... I'm a god?"

"Impossible!"

He was stunned.

He had never thought of himself as anything but human.

He had been born on Earth.

Sure, he had cursed Thanos under his breath when he heard about the invasion.

(But only in private—because Thanos was not someone you pissed off.)

And yes, Yondu had taken him away when he was just a kid.

So his connection to Earth was faint at best.

The only things that truly tied him to his homeworld were—

His mother.

And his old Walkman.

And now Aaron was saying...

That he wasn't human?

If he was really a god, then...

Why was there such a huge difference between him and Aaron?

Aren't we both supposed to be gods?!

"This must be a mistake," Rocket scoffed.

"We all know Star-Lord! If he's a god, then we're all gods!"

Drax nodded.

Star-Lord wasn't even as strong as him.

How could he possibly be divine?

Gamora, meanwhile, was focused on something else entirely.

The Magic Net.

If it was real, then she saw a path to vengeance.

A chance to kill Thanos.

Aaron had mentioned levels of authority within the Magic Net.

"How strong would I need to be to kill Thanos?" she asked coldly.

"At least Level 4 authority."

"To be safe? Level 5."

Aaron answered without hesitation.

Normally, Thanos was weaker than Odin.

A Level 4 user could theoretically match Odin in raw energy levels.

But—

That didn't mean they'd automatically be able to kill Thanos.

To truly defeat him, one would need to be at least Level 5.

Thanos was not only physically powerful but also had strong magic resistance.

"Level 4 or 5 doesn't seem... impossible," Gamora murmured, deep in thought.

Then she asked, "How many people with Level 4 authority or higher currently exist?"

Aaron shrugged.

"More than ten."

Many of them were his trusted allies.

Others had simply been powerful or lucky enough to rise quickly.

Gamora's eyes flashed with determination.

The Magic Net hadn't even existed for that long, yet it had already produced more than ten high-level users.

If they could do it—

Then so could she.

She was going to kill Thanos.

And for the first time in a long while—

She had hope.
