Liam blinked. His vision sharpened. It was not his father. It was David.
"Dad?" Liam whispered. As far as he knew no one in the house was really close to the Baron to call him dad.
And he knew well enough that most the sons in House Maddach would not expect the Baron to wait for him on their bed side when they were hurt.
Certain things were more important than the other, and for the Baron, his sons were just not at the top of the list.
Liam's mind raced, embarrassment flooding him. He had to recover fast. He shook his head, pushing away the lingering terror.
And most importantly he had to change the topic.
"Where am I?" he asked, voice rough from the dehydration.
"You're in the medical room," David said simply. "Malik wasn't lying when he said you'd wake up in a few hours."
"Hours? How long was I out?" Liam asked, confusion thick on his tongue.
"Five hours."
