Chapter 44 - Adrenaline

Jorvik staggered.

The slam to the helmet had rattled him, throwing off his balance, his shoulders lurching sideways as he struggled to recover footing.

'Don't stop,' Liam told himself as he tightened his fist his short fingernails cutting through his skin. 'Don't let him breathe.'

'It's not pain anymore…' As blood flowed out of his palm, he realized that the pain all around his body had numbed as well.

He was not healing though; it was merely the adrenaline that was flowing through his body.

The body had a way of protecting itself.

If you were in danger of being killed, for example, your body would release a certain amount of adrenaline.

At this point you would be able to perform feats that you would not imagine possible.

Even fighting through the pain.

'I will have about twenty minutes of adrenaline.' Liam thought as he moved towards Jorvik who was trying to make some distance between the both of them to recover.

The stick came down again.

CLACK!
