At the far end of the bathroom, there was a private hot spring pool for one person. Next to it was a shower area, and further out was a bathtub large enough for two.
This wasn't anything particularly shocking high-end resorts had similar setups.
What really stood out was the color of the entire bathroom. It was golden. And not just any gold, but the rich, gleaming hue of actual gold plating.
Silas took a closer look. Sure enough, the entire bathroom was gilded.
While gold wasn't exactly a rare commodity in this world since it wasn't used as a currency coating every VIP room like this must have cost a fortune.
The sheer extravagance of it all was almost blinding.
On the side, the toiletries were all from the most premium brands in the Pokémon world, which felt very on-brand for a place like this.
Stripping off his clothes, Silas stepped into the hot spring pool and slowly sank into the water.
One word bliss.
The perfectly warm water washed away the exhaustion from his body, making him feel completely relaxed.
He turned on the waterproof TV screen in front of him and started watching a program.
"The power of a move doesn't depend solely on its base energy capacity. A Pokémon's own energy reserves and skill proficiency play a huge role as well. Having energy alone isn't enough. Trainers, make sure to—"
Professor Oak's lecture played on the screen, but Silas wasn't really paying attention. His mind was wandering.
Unfortunately, none of his three Pokémon were particularly fond of water. Otherwise, he would've let them relax in here too.
Pidgeot could probably handle it, but it was too large drying and grooming all those feathers would be a hassle.
Combusken and Roggenrola? No chance.
Combusken might be able to tolerate it, but it wouldn't be a pleasant experience. As for Roggenrola, stepping into this bath would be the equivalent of signing its own death certificate.
Stretching his arms with a sigh, Silas thought, This is the ideal life.
Too bad his bank account said otherwise.
Lately, even with the 2 million Pokédollars Brock had paid him in advance, Silas had only managed to earn around 18 million Pokédollars in total.
But Pokémon training had drained his wallet just as fast.
Combusken's rapid advancement to Advance-level in just one month had significantly increased its training costs. That alone had burned through 3 million Pokédollars.
Achieving this progress in just four months was only partly due to its natural champion-level potential.
The real reason? Throwing an absurd amount of money at it.
By Silas's calculations, if he continued training Combusken at this pace, reaching Level 40 would cost at least 10 million Pokédollars—minimum.
And that wasn't even factoring in later expenses.
Pidgeot, on the other hand, had only cost 1.5 million this month—perfectly within budget. It wasn't advancing as rapidly as Combusken, so the costs weren't as extreme.
The real money sink, however, was Roggenrola.
Raising a young Roggenrola had already set Silas back 3.5 million Pokédollars. That was manageable.
But the last ten days?
A complete financial disaster.
Due to Roggenrola's unique biology, the Zero training program had a very specific requirement:
Before evolving, it needed to absorb an enormous amount of energy and consume specialized rare minerals to enhance its body structure.
By consistently absorbing and integrating these minerals, Roggenrola would develop superior elemental resistances and enhanced durability.
And those materials didn't come cheap.
Just these last ten days had cost 2 million Pokédollars and that was with Pewter Gym's exclusive supply channels and a 50% discount.
Without those benefits, some of the rare minerals he needed wouldn't even be available on the market, and even if they were, the price would be astronomical.
And it was only going to get worse.
As Roggenrola continued growing, the required amount of these minerals would keep increasing never decreasing.
A rough estimate? Just getting it to evolve would cost at least 15 million Pokédollars.
And that didn't even include the additional expenses for powering it up after evolution.
In short? Roggenrola and Combusken were both insanely expensive to raise.
And considering the difference in their final evolved sizes, the financial burden was only going to skyrocket.
Silas chuckled bitterly. At this rate, every time he raised a Pokémon, he'd go broke.
Thankfully, as his own strength continued to improve, making money was gradually becoming easier.
Still, most people couldn't simply throw money at their Pokémon and expect rapid growth.
The only reason Silas could afford to do this was because he had a well-structured training plan backing him up.
Otherwise, even 10 million Pokédollars could be wasted with nothing to show for it.
For most ordinary trainers, financial struggles weren't the only thing keeping them from growing stronger and changing their lives.
Even if they somehow got their hands on money, they were still limited by:
Their Pokémon's potential
Advancement methods
Proper training strategies
Silas still had about 8 million Pokédollars left enough to last a while.
But if he could win the upcoming tournament, he could strike it rich overnight.
After all, the 10% efficiency-enhancing Charcoal wasn't a big deal it was worth around 10 million Pokédollars at most.
The real prize?
A free-choice Evolution Stone.
Some Evolution Stones especially the ones for rare typings were incredibly scarce and insanely expensive.
The only reason Stone Town's Evolution Brothers could afford to offer one as a prize was because their family fortune was built on mining Evolution Stones.
Letting out a soft sigh, Silas stood up from the bath.
"I should probably get a haircut soon… or maybe try a new style. What about a wolf cut?"
As he dried off, Silas stood in front of the mirror, admiring his physique while the thought crossed his mind.
For nearly half a year, he'd been constantly busy either taking on missions, training his Pokémon, or studying and watching battle footage.
He'd barely had any time for a haircut.
As a result, his hair had become somewhat messy.
Luckily, he showered and washed his hair every morning and night.
Otherwise, people might start mistaking his head for Pidgeot's nest.
Stepping out of the bathroom, Silas picked up the phone and called for room service.
"Hello, how may I assist you?" A crisp female voice answered.
"I'd like to schedule a massage and cleaning for my three Pokémon Pidgeot, Combusken, and Roggenrola."
"Understood, sir. A staff member will arrive shortly to collect them.
The entire process will take approximately three hours.
Since it's currently dinnertime, you may enjoy your meal while you wait.
Once the service is complete, we will notify you via your wrist device, and you may choose when you'd like your Pokémon returned."
"Got it. Thanks."
"You're welcome! Enjoy your trip!"
Silas hung up without hesitation.
This was one of the VIP room services the attendant had mentioned earlier.
A quick glance at the service details showed that the hotel had hired several high-level Pokémon breeders specifically for these treatments.
Sure, Silas often handled his own Pokémon care, but he was here to enjoy himself.
Letting someone else take over once in a while didn't sound like a bad idea especially since it was free as part of the room package.
"Toot! Toooot! Toooooooot!"
As the ship's horn sounded, the S.S. Anne slowly set sail.
Stretching lazily, Silas felt himself finally entering vacation mode.
For now, he could take a break from training and grinding for money.
"Knock, knock!"
A male voice came from outside.
"Sir, your requested room service is here."
Silas quickly threw on some clothes, grabbed his three Luxury Balls, and opened the door.
After handing them to the staff, he casually asked if the buffet on the first floor was open.
The staff member confirmed that it was.
With that, Silas made his way downstairs, ready to enjoy his first dinner on board.
