Chapter 54 - Confronting a dead man

Luffy, Sanji, and Nami climbed up the rope ladder to the ship where the skeleton was staying. They were unsure of what they would find once they boarded it, hearing ghost stories about broken and haunted ships that littered this graveyard. Nami looked around her. It was clear that she was scared. "What is going on here? Everything is creepy and uneasy. I don't like it one bit."

Sanji smiled. "Don't worry, Nami. I'll keep you safe." He reached out to take her hand in good faith, but was rejected. He didn't understand this. He was under the impression that Nami liked him. "Nami, I thought you liked me."

Nami looked at him. "Now is not the time to get all cuddly. Our ship was just visited by a dead person, and that's all you can think about?"

Luffy looked at them. "I have to agree with Nami on this. I don't know who this person is or what his intention is, but he will not scare our nephew again."

Sanji nodded. "I didn't think about that. So, in that case, let's figure this out for Henry's sake."

The skeleton approached them. "Please forgive my earlier behavior. I didn't know that there was an infant on your ship. It was not my intention to scare the boy. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Brook. I used to be the musician of this very ship. When my capitan and crew entered this mist, everyone just vanished. I was the only one who survived."

Luffy nodded. "I could use your talent on my crew. You can sing lullabies to my nephew. The 4-day-old boy who tried to scare."

Sanji and Nami stared at him. "ARE YOU INSANE! THIS PERSON TRIED TO SCARE HENRY, AND NOW YOU WANT HIM TO JOIN US!"

Luffy grinned. "Why not? You don't think it would be a good idea?"

Nami paused. "It would make sense, but that's not why we're here. We need to find out what happened to Brook's crew exactly."

Sanji nodded. "Nami's right. You are so one-track minded."

Luffy looked at both of them. "I'm not one-track minded. I just want a musician, and that's what is going to happen."

Back on the ship, everything seemed quiet and spooky. Chealse looked at me. "You don't think something bad happened to them, do you?"

I shook my head. "Have faith in Luffy, Sanji, and Nami. They know what they're doing. I hope."

Chopper was in his office, making some medicine for me to take to help me keep my strength up. He poked his head out once it was ready. "Hey, Kat, your medicine is ready."

I nodded. "I'm coming." I looked at Cheasle. "Can you hold Henry for me?"

Cheasle nodded. "Of course I can." She took Henry from me while I went to see Chopper.

I knocked on the door before entering the office. "You wanted to see me, Chopper?"

Chopper nodded and handed me a glass of water and a small yellow pill. "Yes. I made some medicine for you to help keep your strength up. I know you haven't been yourself since giving birth to Henry."

"Thank you, Chopper. I appreciate it."

Chopper laughed. "It's my job as a doctor to make sure that all patients are at their best."

I placed a hand on his red hat. "You're very good at your job."

"You're just sucking up to me, Kat. I'm the family doctor, remember?"

I smiled. "I know."
