Chapter 34 - Illogical rifts

It was as if the world were against them. Kyle was against entering alone initially, but when the reasoning was sound, he was made aware that even if he didn't exit, we would all enter either way, and he calmed down. However, when he tried to enter the dungeon, a screen appeared for the entire group.

[Transportation for the current party accepted]

[Congratulations, you have entered a dimensional rift dungeon.]

They were all standing in an open sandy grassland when they appeared again. There were no trees; they weren't even close to a forest. There were no shadows. It was getting dark from the afternoon to the evening here, though the sun shone brightly into the midday light of high noon. The only thing around them was grass up to Anna's waist; spots with no grass were only sand. Empty grasslands engulfed where they stood, swallowing them in the light.

"Kyle, what did you do?" (Greyson)

Kyle stood, his hand raised as he groped the empty air, his lips twitching as he stared into space, before looking around to see the others.

"I accepted entry." (Kyle)

Anna was pulled from her revelry.

"Word for word, what did it say?" (Anna)

"I don't know." (Kyle)

"Backlog log, Kyle, she already told us we could look at previous notifications since the system was initiated." (Mark)

"Oh, that I didn't pay attention." (Kyle)

Anna stopped listening as she saw the grass sway in the wind coming from nowhere. It wasn't right, though Anna's instincts were yelling at her. The grass wasn't moving like it should; it was moving like something was running through it.

"Guy's guards up, something is coming to us." (Anna)

Everyone moved, raising their weapons. Anna's shotgun appeared in her hands, and she made sure it was loaded before she pulled it flush to her shoulder and pointed it at where the grass parted and moved.

"Where? I don't see anything." (Kyle)

"Watch the grass, I can't see what is coming, but it is moving like something is moving through it to us." (Anna)

Anna took a steadying breath and focused her eyes on her target, pointing the barrel at her chosen target that she could not see.

Bang

SCREEEEH CHCCHCH

They couldn't see what was hit but heard it loud and clear.

[Level up]

"Leveled up" (Anna)

Adjusting, Anna pointed it at another movement she spotted in the grass.

PoP PoP POP

Before Anna could pull the trigger, Justin had pulled out a pistol and had shot at an area of grass that was moving like Anna did.

"The fuck man you had a pistol this whole time?" (Kyle)

"Anna, I need to go through your bullets. I only have six more rounds." (Justin)

"Got it." (Anna)

Bang

"What kind do you need?" (Anna)

PoP

"Nine mill." (Justin)

Tossing a box to Justin, He stumbled slightly but caught it with one hand before it vanished from his hand into his inventory.

"Thanks." (Justin)

"Are you seriously going to ignore me? When did you get a Pistol?" (Kyle)

"Last resort, but Anna's here, so might as well use it on an invisible monster we can't see. Oh yeah, LEVELED UP." (Justin)

Bang

"That doesn't answer my question, you know what, never mind." (Kyle)

Kyle saw the grass splitting and rushing at him, so he swung his blade down as another scream flowed through the air. Kyle gets thrown to the side, slamming into Mark, making them fall to the ground. Greyson got out his pistol that they pillaged, shooting it in the direction of the monster that was still invisible, only a line of red where it was hit existing as Greyson pulled the trigger.

POP

"Mark Kyle, both of you whole?" (Greyson)

Greyson turned back around, pulling the trigger again and again at the parting gras, ass more of the creatures approaching the group. Kyle groaned, holding his injured side as he moved off Mark. Mark wheezed as he had the wind knocked out of him.

POP POP POP

Pop Pop

"RELOADING" (Justin)

"Anna, do you have another gun?" (Kyle)

"I'd like one too." (Mark)

Mark wheezed his words, and Anna shook her head before turning her barrel to shoot at another split in the grass.

"Not any more quick reloads, just a single-shot rifle for sniping and a flare gun. So unless you want to burn us alive, no." (Anna)

"Fuck." (Kyle)

"LOADED." (Justin)

PoP PoP

POP

BANG
