Synopsis
At the shores of Cuiviénen in the far east of Middle-earth, the Elves are Awakened. This time, things are slightly different, though. The first to awaken among them is Celuvriel, who was, in fact, NOT created through Eru Ilúvatar's music ... but someone else's. The Progenitor of Elves has awakened, and with him the change in Ainulindalë, the "Music of the Ainur", also known as the Great Music or the Great Song. This is a multiverse story that starts with Tolkien's works. It will take him a while to move to other worlds.

Chapter 1 - Celuvriel

Please have mercy on me. This is my first time reading and researching Tolkien's work, and I love it. If something's wrong, please tell me, but don't hate the story. I'll try to change it, wherever possible.

_____________________________________________

At the beginning of all things, the supreme deity of Tolkien's universe, Eru Ilúvatar, brought forth the Ainur, spirits born of his thought. With them, Ilúvatar composed great and divine Music, a harmony that shaped the very foundations of creation. However, one among them, Melkor, the greatest of the Ainur, sought to weave his own themes into the song, disrupting what was harmonious with his pride and ambition. He didn't follow his creator's wishes, but his own.

In response to this, Ilúvatar introduced a third theme, deeper and more powerful than any before. It rose above Melkor's rather dark and chaotic one, filled with discord, a melody so profound that even the Ainur could not fully understand it, for it came from something that was beyond them, from Ilúvatar alone. Within this Music, the fate of all things was woven: the passage of time, the shaping of the world, and the coming of the Children of Ilúvatar — Elves and Men.

To turn what was Music into reality, Ilúvatar uttered the word "Eä," thus creating the universe. Within this vast creation, the Ainur descended into the world and shaped Arda, the Earth. It was a sphere of light and substance located within the void. With its skies and lands, Arda was set apart from Kuma, the true emptiness beyond.

The fifteen most powerful Ainur who entered Arda were known as the Valar, and those of lesser might who followed them were called the Maiar. When the Valar entered Eä, they became bound to it — unable to leave, whether by choice or fate, until the end of everything. At first, Eä was vast, dark, and formless. The Ainur who entered it had to labour for countless ages, beyond time or memory, to shape it according to the Vision.

Shortly after the Music of the Ainur, when the Valar descended into Arda, a time called 'Days before days' began. After the Valar entered the world, it was still lifeless and had no distinct geographical features. To change that was their job, and they would do it. However, Melkor, who had also entered, claimed Arda for himself alone. This led to a war between Melkor and the Valar. While the Valar shaped Arda, Melkor disrupted or destroyed everything they constructed, destroying the mountains they built, elevating their valleys, and overflowing their seas, constantly getting in their way. Melkor caused significant destruction to the creations of Aulë, who was the smith and master of crafts among the Valar. He eventually became exhausted from mending what was constantly destroyed.

This went on from the first Valian year up to the 1499th. Eventually, the news of the War reached far into the heavens, where the other Ainur remained. Learning of the War, Tulkas finally descended to Arda in Valian Year 1499. Upon hearing his mighty laughter, Melkor fled before Tulkas's anger and escaped beyond the Walls of Night.

Yavanna, Queen of the Earth, "Giver of Fruits" and wife of Aulë, had planted many seeds. To grow the seeds, though, they required light, so Yavanna asked Aulë to create something for it. And he did. Aulë created Two Lamps, Illuin and Ormal. The lamps were filled with light by Varda, Queen of the Stars, and wife of Manwë. They were hallowed by Manwë, the Elder King, and set on great pillars, taller than any mountains of the later days. Illuin was set in the north of Middle-earth, placed upon the tower Helcar and shone with a blue light. Ormal, on the other hand, was placed in the far south, upon the tower Ringil and shone with a golden glow.

In the centre, where the light from the Lamps combined, the Valar resided on the island of Almaren, their initial realm. Naturally, that was not the end of it, as the Two Lamps illuminated the land until an attack from Melkor, who was now more salty than ever, shattered them. This, in turn, plunged Arda into darkness. But that wasn't all. The Lamps' fall disrupted the flawless symmetry of Arda's surface, marking the end of the Spring. Due to this, different continents emerged: Aman in the distant West, Middle-earth, or Endor, stretching from north to south in the centre, and the Land of the Sun in the far East. The inland Sea of Helcar later formed at the location of the northern Lamp, with Cuiviénen being a bay within it.

Following the lamp's and Almaren's destruction, the Valar withdrew to the continent of Aman, located across the sea and built Valinor there, thereby allowing Melkor to rule over Middle-Earth. As Valinor was created, Yavanna sang the Two Trees of Valinor into existence. Silver Telperion and golden Laurelin. They would provide the light the world now lacked. This marked the end of the Days before days after 3'500 Valinor years.

Meanwhile, Melkor roamed Middle-Earth in various guises, turning it into a dark and cruel land filled with terrible creatures he created. He also created a fortress in the West called Angband as a bulwark against the Valar. Oromë, who was a powerful hunter who rode through Middle-Earth and its forests, killing monsters and dark creatures, was feared by Melkor and made him truly angry. In response to this unwanted visitor, Melkor created the Misty Mountains, a great mountain range between Eriador in the west and the great river Anduin in the east, as a hindrance for Oromë.

Following Days before days, the Years of the Trees began. To make it clearer, the Tree temporal units should be explained briefly.

__

1 Valian hour is a single segment of the full flowering of both Trees of Valinor. This would equal 7 hours of our time.

1 Valian day is 12 Valian hours, or the full flowering of both Trees. This would equal 84 hours of our time, or three and a half days.

1 Valian year are 1'000 Valian days or 12'000 Valian hours. This equals 3'500 of our days or 9 years, 212 days and 18 hours.

__

Varda, the Queen of the Valar, feels something. She and her fellow Valar feel that the moment of the Awakening of the Elves is near. In Valinor, the other Valar get excited.

"Mighty Aratar, we have enjoyed such a long time of peace and harmony here in Aman, while darkness lies over Middle-Earth and Melkor has free reign to do as he pleases. When the Children arrive, can we have them wake up to this darkness? Should we not do something about that?"

"But isn't Oromë already looking for them, riding through the lands and eliminating the fell creatures of Melkor? What more should we do? Illuin and Ormal were destroyed."

"No! I say we go to war and don't allow Melkor to rule Middle-Earth!" Tulkas yells.

"We can't do that, Tulkas. A war would plunge all of Middle-earth into fire and destruction. We don't know where the Children will awake. Mandos, what can you tell us?" Manwë turns towards Mandos.

Mandos is the Doomsman of the Valar who pronounced judgment in matters of fate. He is the keeper of the slain in his Halls in the west of Valinor.

"In this age, the Children of Illúvitar will indeed come, but not yet. But the Firstborn will arrive in darkness, first looking up into the sky and gazing at the stars. Even as they fade, these stars will be a great light for them, and in their need, they will always call on Varda."

The Valar look at Varda. She nodded her head, already having an idea of how to do it. She left the council and looked at Middle-earth from the heights of Taniquetil, seeing the darkness that shrouded it and blocking the stars already existing. So she decided to change that. She went to work, and as it will be known later, it would be the greatest of all the works the Valar did ever since coming to Arda. Varda has been collecting the dew from the Two Trees and now takes the silver dew from the well of Telperion and with it, starts to create new and brighter stars which would light the coming of the Elves, the Firstborn Children of Illúvitar.

- Y.T. 1049 -

- The shores of Cuiviénen -

Cuiviénen is located to the east of the Sea of Helcar, which formed where one of the Two Lamps, Illuin, stood, before Melkor destroyed them. Many rivers flow into the Sea of Helcar from Cuiviénen. Cuiviénen lies beneath the shadows of the Orocanri, called the Red Mountains. It is said that the first Elf awoke at the precise moment when Varda finished creating additional stars in the night sky. But this is a slightly different story.

As Varda was in the process of creating the new and brighter stars, one was already awake. The Progenitor of Elves. No one knows where he comes from or how he was created. While everything else was created through Eru Illúvitar's music, he was not. Someone else had made him, which Eru himself did not even understand. But now he was here and awake and would surely remain.

"Beautiful..."

The Progenitor looks into the sky and sees more and more stars appear, pushing away the darkness. He is in awe and enjoys the spectacle. He knows what is happening, where he is, and what he is. He only doesn't know how he got here and who created him, but he doesn't bother with that. He is the progenitor of all elves to come into the entire Omniverse. And as such, he gained all knowledge, be it magic, fighting, or anything else, from every Elven civilisation within the Omniverse, meaning he also knows about this one, where he awoke.

"Arda... Middle-earth... wonderful..."

The progenitor continues to observe the spectacle in the sky, Varda creating stars to welcome him and his kin, who are about to wake up very soon. As he has the time, he goes through some of the memories he gained, the knowledge of this reality he is now in. He sees how everything came to be and hears the music in all things surrounding him. Music...

After letting his thoughts roam for a while, the progenitor suddenly feels the air around him change, and the music that makes up all things stops.

~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hello?"
'What are you, young one?'
A deep, melodious voice asks. The voice is both loud and silent and comes to the progenitor's senses from all sides. He finds himself surrounded by clouds and in another place where he was just moments before.
"I am the Elven Progenitor", he says.
'You were not foreseen. You are not one of my children.' the voice says.
"I am not. I don't know where I come from either, but I mean your creation no harm."
'I am aware. The music hasn't changed much. But it has gained in... flavour.'
"Flavour? Interesting. Do you know when my kin will awake?"
'Yes. Will you guide them when others have received this quest from me?'
"If it is not your wish, I won't. But I believe even you are interested in seeing the outcome of the Music of the Ainur and whether or not the Dagor Dagorath will arrive."
'It still might. But the finale of the symphony is no longer certain. You have brought uncertainty, and I am willing to let you play your part, like I have allowed Melkor to do his part as well.'
"I'm glad. I am very interested to see where this goes."
'So am I. Farewell... Celuvriel.'
~~~~~~~~~~~

Celuvriel opens his eyes in the same spot he was before.

"Celuvriel... I like it."

The progenitor of all elves smiles and starts to walk around, looking for his kin, who should have woken up as Varda is finally finished with the greatest of all her works.
