Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: What Kind of Play Is This?

"Ahhh!"

Under the quiet moonlight, in the deserted school at night, on a surveillance-free path, a girl's scream suddenly echoed through the air.

A scene like this... it's hard not to imagine something inappropriate happening—just kidding!

"You bastard! What do you think you're doing?!"

The now-soaked "fallen angel" glared furiously at the dead-fish-eyed boy in front of her. The anger she had barely managed to suppress flared up again in an instant!

Her entire body was drenched, and as the cola seeped into her clothes, the sticky sensation against her skin made her feel extremely uncomfortable—like something slimy was crawling all over her. She had never been subjected to this kind of humiliation before.

"I'm helping you snap out of it."

Hikigaya showed zero concern for her distress. Instead, he took advantage of the moment to shake the cola bottle even harder, making sure the fizzy liquid drenched her even more. The sticky, sweet scent of cola became even stronger, and now even her golden hair was caught in the mess.

"AHH! YOU JERK!!"

Kushida was on the verge of losing it. This dead-fish-eyed idiot didn't play by any normal rules! Was he actually insane?!

"How does it feel to be a Cola Lady? Feeling a bit clearer now?"

As he spoke, Hikigaya even handed over a tissue. This act completely infuriated Kushida—she flared up like an angry kitten, eyes wide with rage as she glared at him.

"You dead fish eyes! I'm going to tell the school that you tried to assault me here! The fingerprints on my clothes—"

Suddenly, Kushida froze. She looked down at her soaked jacket, and as if realizing something, she quickly lifted her head to stare at Hikigaya.

"Sigh… That's why I told you… to clear your head a bit."

Seeing that Kushida had finally noticed the problem, Hikigaya dropped the act. "So, has your brain woken up now?"

"No! The fingerprints can still be extracted!"

Kushida's face was full of anger.

"Tsk tsk, even you don't sound confident saying that."

Hikigaya smirked. "It's true that fingerprints can last on fabric for a while, but only if there are no external factors interfering. Do you really think I'd take action without being fully prepared? Especially with a carbonated drink soaking it—how much of the fingerprints do you think are even left?"

The once hesitant Hikigaya now seemed like a completely different person—aggressive, pushing forward step by step. Instinctively, Kushida backed away.

"Heh, Hikigaya, do you really think a cheap trick like this can fool me?!"

Kushida suddenly stopped retreating, her cold smile fixed on him. "Don't think I don't see through you. You're just bluffing. As long as I take this to the police right now, you're done for!"

"Oh? Is that so?"

The boy shrugged, looking indifferent. "Then go ahead. Even if they do manage to pull fingerprints from the fabric, once this gets out, your reputation will take a massive hit—even as the so-called victim."

"Heh, sure, people will act like they sympathize with you, stand up for you, but deep down, they'll just be laughing at you. Especially the girls whose spotlight you stole—they might even start rumors like, 'Kushida got seen naked,' or 'Kushida's not pure anymore, maybe she did it on purpose to seduce a guy.'

Tsk tsk, and just like that, the sweet, innocent Kushida Kikyo—who's loved by everyone, praised wherever she goes, and wants to be friends with the whole world—will become a social outcast, shunned by girls and judged by guys. A total, complete, social death."

"You! Shut! Up!"

Kushida was furious—so angry she felt like rushing over and ripping Hikigaya's mouth apart.

"Heh, why are you so mad? Because you know it's true? As disgusting as it is, this twisted, power-driven society always puts the blame on the victim—especially when it's a woman."

"Mutual destruction?"

"I'm just a loner, an outcast. I have no attachments to this school. But you? The beloved angel, the girl with a bright future, adored by everyone.

Tsk tsk, if a cute girl like you is willing to go down with me, then maybe this pathetic school life will at least have a fittingly dramatic ending."

Hikigaya's indifferent tone and amused expression made him all the more infuriating in Kushida's eyes.

But the scariest thing was—his words actually made her hesitate. Every sentence seemed to strike at her weakest spots.

"Besides… even if, against all odds, they manage to pull fingerprints from your clothes, so what? If I just insist I was falsely accused—or even admit I accidentally touched your chest—what do you think the school will do?"

"Even though you're admired by many students, don't forget that in the eyes of the school, you're just a regular Class D student. Meanwhile, I'm a member of the student council. Who's in the better position? That's still up for debate."

"You think the worst punishment for me would be expulsion? Getting arrested? Heh. Given my student council status, the school will do everything to keep this quiet. At most, I'll get a public warning, but if you want me gone for good, that's not nearly enough."

Kushida, threats aren't a warning to your enemy—they're the anthem of victory.

Hikigaya stepped closer to Kushida, his cold expression and harsh words finally making her shudder. She instinctively backed away.

To Kushida, Hikigaya now seemed like something unknown and terrifying. Those dead-fish eyes, which she once found disgusting, now carried an overwhelming pressure. For a moment, she had the illusion that he could see right through her, leaving her feeling powerless.

"You… what are you trying to do?! S-Stop right there! Don't come any closer!"

Kushida crossed her arms over her chest, her face finally showing a trace of fear.

When Hikigaya was less than a meter away, he stopped. His thoughts were complicated. He never expected that only by acting like this—by playing the villain—could he make her back down.

*Sigh… people really do fear the strong and bully the weak.*

Kushida probably saw him as some kind of evil mastermind now.

Even he found his own words disgusting just now, but the effect was immediate. He wasn't sure if he should feel satisfied or just sad.

Still… playing the villain wasn't half bad.

Maybe now he understood Haruno a little better. No wonder she enjoyed putting on an act—it was actually kind of addictive.

Hikigaya Hachiman, you're still just a baby at this!

But seriously… shouldn't reinforcements have arrived by now?

Whatever.

The boy, now fully in villain mode, grinned wickedly at the fallen angel before him. The sudden movement startled a flock of birds into flight. Kushida, suppressing her unease, forced herself to look more menacing—if she didn't, she'd be completely overwhelmed by Hikigaya's presence.

Even if she had been slow to realize it before, she now understood—this dead-fish-eyed guy was far from ordinary. The whole loner, outcast image? Just an act. Just like her.

"You… who the hell are you?!"

"Heh… just a passing villain."

"?"

"I won't tell anyone about tonight. I don't care about you. But… if you keep provoking me again and again, I won't mind teaching this big-breasted, empty-headed girl a lesso—"

Before he could finish, Kushida suddenly flared up like an enraged lioness.

"What?! Who are you calling big-breasted and empty-headed, you dead-fish-eyed bastard?!"

Before Hikigaya could react, she lunged at him again, grabbing his wrist.

*Again?*

That thought barely crossed his mind before he felt that same soft, slightly wet sensation on his hand. A bit sticky, too.

Just as Kushida was about to smirk in triumph, a curious voice froze her in place.

"Whoa~ What kind of kinky play are you two up to here?"

"…"

"…"
