Zain exhaled, his smoking pistol still faintly warm in his hand.
He didn't even glance at Karven's motionless body.
Instead, he looked over his shoulder.
"Velra."
She stood at attention behind the wreckage, eyes fixed on him.
"Bring your little team here."
Velra bowed her head.
"Yes, Master."
She turned and walked over toward both Rynka and Drayv.
Rynka groaned and sat up, clutching her ribs.
"Tch… feels like a truck hit me…"
Drayv leaned back against a slab of broken concrete.
His rock skin chipping from the impact.
"That guy's not human…"
Velra approached without expression.
She stopped just in front of them, arms crossed.
"Get up."
Rynka looked up at her, eyes squinting.
"So that's it, huh? You're proud now?"
Velra didn't respond.
Rynka spat blood to the side.
"You really sold yourself to him…"
"I chose him," Velra corrected.
"There's a difference."
Drayv chuckled darkly.
