Chapter 16 - Chapter 49-50-51-52-53-54

Chapter 49: Unity on the Battlefield

The heat of the day was stifling in Jalalabad, and Aaron was in the operations center, reviewing reports when he received the call. It was direct from command. His team, Bravo, was to prepare for urgent support of a SEAL Team Three team, led by a familiar officer: Lieutenant Steve McGarrett.

Aaron set the report aside and called his team.

"Bravo, briefing in the planning room in five minutes. We have a new objective."

As Aaron entered the operations room, he was greeted by the commander. A detailed map of a mountainous region was projected on the wall. The commander wasted no time.

"Rollins, Lieutenant McGarrett's team is on a reconnaissance mission near the border. They're gathering intelligence on an insurgent cell, but they've encountered more resistance than expected. We need you and your team to provide immediate support."

Aaron crossed his arms, studying the map.

"What's their status?"

— They're under heavy fire, but still holding their position. The area is heavily fortified.

Aaron nodded, looking at his team.

"Stand by for insertion. Mission begins in 30 minutes."

Shortly after, the helicopters transported Aaron's team to McGarrett's position. The sound of gunfire and explosions filled the air as the Black Hawks landed in a safe zone. Aaron was the first to descend, leading his team to McGarrett's defensive position.

Steve McGarrett, now a Lieutenant, stepped out from behind a makeshift barricade to meet Aaron. Despite the tense atmosphere, he looked relieved to see Aaron.

"Red, good to see you."

Aaron shook his hand tightly.

"McGarrett. It seems you've run into more trouble than you bargained for."

McGarrett chuckled, but his face showed weariness.

"Let's just say the briefing underestimated the number of insurgents."

Freddie Hart, McGarrett's second-in-command, approached. "Lieutenant Commander Rollins, thank you for coming. We need a plan to get out of this."

Aaron looked at the map of the area and the disposition of forces. "Here's how it's done: my team will flank on the right while you maintain pressure from the front. When we have the advantage, we'll advance together."

McGarrett nodded. "Understood. Let's do that."

Aaron led his team up the right slope while McGarrett and Hart coordinated suppressive fire. The area was crawling with insurgents, but Aaron's precision and coolness effectively neutralized the targets.

Bravo 2 radioed in, "Red, we're in position."

Aaron quickly responded. "Await my order. McGarrett, we're ready to flank."

McGarrett nodded. "Advance."

Both groups attacked simultaneously, catching the insurgents by surprise. The sound of gunfire intensified, but the coordination between the teams was impeccable. Aaron and McGarrett were side by side in the fight, covering each other as they advanced.

At a critical moment, Freddie Hart was grazed in the arm. Aaron immediately signaled Bravo 3 to provide cover while Freddie was treated by one of the field medics.

"I'm fine!" Freddie said, trying to pull the medic away.

"Continue the advance."

After hours of fighting, the teams managed to neutralize the threat. The location was secured and the necessary intelligence was collected. McGarrett looked at Aaron, exhausted but grateful.

"I don't know what we would have done without you guys."

Aaron smiled slightly, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"We're all on the same team, McGarrett. Just doing what we know how to do."

Freddie, now with his arm bandaged, approached.

"Lieutenant Commander, I have to admit, your team is impressive."

Aaron looked at his team with pride.

— They're the best.

Back at the forward base, the two teams gathered for a brief decompression. Despite the informal atmosphere, there was a deep respect between them.

McGarrett sat next to Aaron, holding a bottle of water.

"You know, Red, I never thought I'd owe you another one."

Aaron laughed.

"I just hope you take care of yourself and your team. I don't like rescue missions."

McGarrett smiled, shaking Aaron's hand.

"You got it."

Freddie also approached.

"If you ever need anything, we're here for you."

Aaron nodded.

"The same goes for you guys."

The two teams said their goodbyes, knowing that in times of war, alliances like this were essential to survival and success.

Chapter 50: Unexpected Alliance

The dry heat of Kandahar was stifling as Aaron and his team prepared for their next mission. This time, it would be different. The mission would not only be conducted by DEVGRU, but also in conjunction with MI6, something rare but not unheard of. Tension was in the air, but there was also a sense of curiosity among the operators.

In the base's operations center, Aaron sat, reviewing the mission details on the electronic briefing. The commander entered, followed by a tall, blonde woman with a steady gaze who exuded confidence.

"Bravo 1, this is Juliet Riggins, MI6 agent. She will be inserted into the operation."

Aaron stood and shook her hand.

"Lieutenant Commander Aaron Rollins. Welcome."

Juliet returned the handshake with a slight smile.

"Thank you. I've heard a lot about your team. I hope we can work well together."

Aaron nodded.

"Our mission is to ensure that."

In the operations room, the teams gathered. Aaron explained the details.

"Our objective is to infiltrate Juliet into Kandahar to obtain crucial information about an insurgent movement that threatens both British and American interests."

Juliet added,

"The primary target is a man named Rashid Karim. He is the liaison between local insurgent cells and external financiers. My job is to infiltrate as a British citizen seeking a safe haven, gain his trust, and gather the information."

Bravo 3 raised his hand.

"And what will our role be, Bravo 1?"

Aaron looked at his team.

"Our role will be to ensure Juliet's safety while she infiltrates. We will have forward positions for monitoring and rapid extraction if necessary."

Juliet interrupted, looking at Aaron.

"With all due respect, Lieutenant Commander, I am used to operating alone."

Aaron answered firmly.

"We are not discussing preferences, Riggins. We are discussing security."

She nodded, realizing that Aaron would not give in.

That night, Juliet was ready for the infiltration. Dressed in traditional clothing, she seemed completely integrated into the local environment. Aaron watched her as he reviewed the details with his team.

Before leaving, Juliet approached Aaron.

"I appreciate the support, even if it seems like I'm being followed by shadows."

Aaron smiled slightly.

"Shadows save lives."

The two exchanged a brief look of mutual respect before leaving.

Juliet was inserted into a small village near Kandahar. Meanwhile, Aaron's team set up positions around it. Bravo 4 and Bravo 5 monitored the main entrance to the village, while Aaron and Bravo 2 took an elevated position, watching the house where Juliet was meeting with Karim.

Juliet reported over the radio.

"I'm in. The contact is suspicious, but I'll be able to buy time."

Aaron answered, keeping his voice calm.

"We're monitoring. If there's any sign of danger, let me know." Hours passed as Juliet integrated herself into the meeting. From his perch, Aaron watched through his thermal binoculars. Karim seemed to be testing Juliet, but she remained calm and responded confidently.

Suddenly, Bravo 6 reported over the radio: "Bravo 1, we have movement to the east. Three armed insurgents approaching."

Aaron squinted, adjusting his binoculars. "Everyone, hold position. Juliet, you're about to have company."

Juliet responded in a calm but firm tone. "Understood. I'll try to keep the conversation going."

The insurgents entered the house, and Aaron saw the dynamic change immediately. Karim looked wary, and Juliet was in a delicate position.

Aaron called the team in. "Bravo 3, prepare for stealth approach. Bravo 5, cover the west exit."

Juliet's radio crackled. "They're getting aggressive. I may need a distraction."

Aaron looked at Bravo 2.

"Activate the remote flashbang on the southern perimeter. Now."

The explosion was quick and controlled, but enough to distract the insurgents. Juliet took the moment to calmly retreat, claiming she needed fresh air.

Outside, Juliet moved toward the extraction point as Aaron and his team moved in to cover her. The insurgents noticed the movement and opened fire.

Aaron shouted into the radio,

"Bravo 4 and 5, covering fire!"

The gunfire echoed through the air as Juliet ran toward Aaron's position. He pulled her behind makeshift cover.

"Are you okay?" he asked, checking her for injuries.

Juliet was breathing hard, but she nodded.

"I'm fine. I just want to get out of here."

Aaron signaled to the team.

"Everyone, move to the extraction point."

With skillful covering fire, they managed to get out of the area and made their way to the waiting helicopter.

At the base, Juliet delivered the information she had gathered to British command. Before leaving, she looked for Aaron.

— Lieutenant Commander, thank you for everything. You and your team are amazing.

Aaron gave her a small smile.

"We're just doing our jobs. You're amazing too, Riggins. Good luck on your next mission."

She smiled, shaking his hand.

"Maybe our paths will cross again."

Aaron watched as Juliet left the room, feeling that despite their initial differences, they had formed an effective partnership.

Chapter 51: Changing of the Guard

The heat of Jalalabad was constant, the sun scorched the horizon, and dust seemed to be part of the air. Aaron Rollins and his team were at the end of another long and exhausting deployment. Despite their fatigue, they maintained the discipline and readiness that made them part of DEVGRU's elite.

In the operations room, Aaron stood next to Bravo 2, reviewing the reports from the last few missions. That's when the base commander came in with news.

"Bravo 1, your replacement will arrive tomorrow. Blue Squadron."

Aaron frowned.

"Who leads the team?"

"Sam Hanna," the commander replied. "He came to DEVGRU a few years after you. A solid operator."

Aaron nodded. He had heard of Sam Hanna, a man with an impeccable reputation and an imposing physique, but they had never met.

The next day, the sound of helicopter rotors announced the arrival of the replacement team. Aaron and his team were on the apron to greet them. Out of the helicopter stepped a man who immediately caught their attention. Sam Hanna was tall, muscular, and carried an aura of confidence. He walked straight up to Aaron.

"Lieutenant Commander Rollins?" Sam asked, extending his hand.

"It's me. Welcome to Jalalabad," Aaron replied, shaking Sam's hand firmly.

"I've heard so many good things about you and your team," Sam said with a smile. "It's an honor to replace such a respected team."

"The feeling is mutual," Aaron said. "I'm sure you and your team will keep the high standard here."

Sam laughed.

"We'll do our best."

Aaron led Sam and his team into the operations room. He gave them a detailed rundown of the operations underway, the areas of greatest risk, and the major threats in the region.

"The landscape here changes quickly," Aaron explained. — We're dealing with insurgent cells that are constantly fragmenting and regrouping. Intelligence is key, but direct action is inevitable.

Sam listened intently, making mental notes.

"Sounds like a challenge, but we're ready."

Aaron could sense Sam's confidence and was impressed by his ability to absorb information quickly.

With the transition complete, it was time for Aaron and his team to say goodbye. They shook hands with the members of Blue Squadron, exchanging a few words of encouragement.

"Take good care of this place, Hanna," Aaron said.

"You got it, Rollins. And good luck on your break," Sam replied.

Aaron and his team boarded the helicopter, leaving Jalalabad behind. As the helicopter gained altitude, Aaron looked out the window, reflecting on the months they had spent there and feeling a mix of relief and nostalgia.

After a long flight back, Aaron and his team finally arrived at the DEVGRU base in Virginia Beach. The atmosphere was completely different from Jalalabad. The fresh air and the sound of the ocean were a welcome contrast.

Aaron decided to visit his family first. At his parents' house, he was greeted with warm hugs. Cathy, his sister, was there too, smiling as she hugged him.

"You're thinner, but still scary as ever," she joked.

Aaron laughed.

"Skinnier? I'd call it 'fit.'"

His parents were overjoyed to see him. His mother watched him proudly as he told light stories about his deployment, avoiding any heavier details.

Aaron took advantage of the time at home to relax and reconnect with his family. He knew moments like these were rare, and he cherished every second.

Cathy asked as they all sat in the living room.

"I heard Blue Squadron is taking over. Have you met their leader?"

"Yes," Aaron replied. "Sam Hanna. A solid operator. We've never worked together before, but he has a good reputation."

"Sounds like he has big shoes to fill," Cathy said teasingly.

"He'll do it," Aaron replied confidently.

Over the next few days, Aaron spent time with his parents and also visited some friends in Virginia Beach. Despite being on leave, he knew his time would be short before he was called back.

In the meantime, he continued to reflect on his career and how he could use his experience in the future. He knew that while at DEVGRU, his life would be dedicated to operations and service, but there was something comforting in knowing that he had a solid family waiting for him back home.

Chapter 52: Called in a Hurry

Aaron was finally enjoying a rare break in Virginia Beach. He was spending the day at his parents' house, talking to Cathy and enjoying the peace and quiet. However, this calm was interrupted when his phone rang, displaying a number he recognized immediately.

"Rollins," he answered, straight.

"Lieutenant Commander Rollins, this is Director Leon Vance of NCIS. We have a situation in Washington that requires your expertise. Can you be here in the next few hours?"

Aaron didn't hesitate.

"I'm on my way."

When Aaron arrived at NCIS headquarters, he was greeted by Leon Vance. The director had a serious expression, but he was relieved to see him.

"Thank you for coming so quickly, Rollins. This case involves two SEAL Team Two operators who were found dead. We're dealing with possible leaks of sensitive information."

Aaron nodded.

"Understood. Who's leading the investigation?"

"Gibbs," Vance replied.

Aaron smiled slightly. He knew Leroy Jethro Gibbs from previous operations. Gibbs was an exceptional investigator, but also someone who did not tolerate incompetence or lack of discipline.

"Let's go meet him."

In the conference room, Gibbs was reviewing reports with his team: Anthony DiNozzo, Timothy McGee, and Ziva David. When Aaron entered, Gibbs looked up and gave a slight smile.

"Rollins. Good to see you again."

"Gibbs," Aaron replied, shaking his hand. "I always seem to get pulled back into work, even when I'm off duty."

"Aren't we all?" Gibbs said with a hint of irony.

Ziva's eyes fixed on Aaron, and for a brief moment, the room seemed to go silent. Aaron kept his composure, but a spark of recognition passed between them.

"Aaron, this is my team: DiNozzo, McGee, and Ziva David," Gibbs introduced.

"We've met before," Ziva said, with a subtle smile.

DiNozzo raised his eyebrows, clearly curious.

"Oh, that's interesting."

Aaron ignored the teasing and focused on Gibbs.

"What do we have so far?"

Gibbs explained that the two dead SEALs had been found in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of Washington. They had signs of torture and were involved in an operation that appeared to have been compromised.

"We're investigating a possible leak within the military community," Gibbs said.

"And do you think there might be an insider involved?" Aaron asked.

"We don't know yet, but any clues you can give us would be helpful," Gibbs replied.

Aaron nodded.

"I want to see the bodies and the crime scene."

In the warehouse, Aaron examined the details with a trained eye. He pointed to marks on the floor.

"These drag marks suggest they were brought here after they were killed. Probably executed somewhere else."

McGee took notes while DiNozzo, always sarcastic, commented:

"You make this look so easy."

"Years of practice," Aaron replied without taking his eyes off the scene.

Ziva watched Aaron work with an expression of respect and something else, something she carefully concealed.

Back at NCIS headquarters, Aaron participated in an interrogation with an informant connected to the case. The man, nervous, was reluctant to talk, but Aaron's imposing presence made him relent.

"I heard rumors of a leak, someone selling information about operations to outside groups," the informant said.

Aaron crossed his arms.

"Who?"

"I don't know the name, but I heard he's connected to the naval operations logistics sector."

Gibbs exchanged a meaningful look with Aaron.

"We have our next lead."

Later, while Aaron was reviewing reports alone, Ziva entered the room. She closed the door and crossed her arms.

— I didn't think I'd see you again so soon, Aaron.

Aaron smiled slightly.

"Neither did I, Ziva. But it seems our paths keep crossing."

"That was years ago, in Somalia," she said, referring to the joint operation between DEVGRU and Kidon. "I thought maybe you'd forgotten."

"Hard to forget something like that," Aaron replied, looking at her intently.

Ziva looked away, but smiled.

"You're always so direct."

Before they could continue, Gibbs burst in.

"Ziva, we have work to do."

She nodded, giving Aaron one last look before leaving.

With the information they had gathered, the team was able to identify the person responsible for the leak: a civilian hired by the logistics sector. He had been bribed to provide information about SEAL operations, putting lives at risk.

Aaron led the approach to capture him, working side by side with Gibbs and his team. The operation was successful, and the suspect was arrested without incident.

Back at NCIS, Gibbs shook Aaron's hand.

"Good job, Rollins."

— Likewise, Gibbs. Always an honor to work with you.

DiNozzo, always with a joke on the tip of his tongue, said,

— If you need a side job, Rollins, you'd be great as a special agent.

Aaron laughed.

— I'll consider it, DiNozzo.

Ziva approached him before he left.

— Take care, Aaron.

— You too, Ziva, — he replied, holding her gaze for a moment before turning to leave.

As he left NCIS headquarters, Aaron felt the familiar weight of a mission accomplished. He knew his life would continue to be full of challenges, but moments like this reminded him of why he did what he did.

Chapter 53: Back to Basics

Aaron decided to take advantage of his time off to visit Coronado, the spiritual home of the SEALs. This was where it all began for him, on SEAL Team Three. Nostalgia hit him as he drove around the familiar perimeter of the base. The sound of the ocean, the smell of the salt air, and the echo of commands shouted from the training grounds brought back vivid memories.

He parked and walked toward the main building. A few operators passing by greeted him with respectful nods; his name was known and admired among the SEALs. As he entered, he was immediately greeted by a deep, authoritative voice.

"Rollins!" called Joe White, a legendary former trainer and mentor to many SEALs, including Aaron. "What's a DEVGRU man doing back to basics? Do you miss it?"

Aaron smiled when he saw him.

"Joe, you know how it is. Sometimes we need to remember where we came from.

Joe walked over and gave Aaron a quick hug, a rare feat for a man known for his toughness.

"You're in shape, kid. But I bet life at Dam Neck has sharpened you even more."

"You bet," Aaron replied. "But there's no substitute for what I learned here."

"Let's go for a walk. There are some new faces you should meet," Joe said, leading him outside.

On the training ground, two operators were engaged in a demonstration of hand-to-hand combat. One was tall, with thick brown hair and an easy smile, while the other was shorter but incredibly agile, with a sense of humor that seemed to radiate from him.

"Those two are insufferable, but they're also some of the best we've got right now," Joe said with a tone of admiration. "Magnum and Nuzo."

Magnum noticed Joe and Aaron and stopped his training.

"Hey, boss! Who's the VIP?" Magnum asked, looking at Aaron.

"Lieutenant Commander Rollins, DEVGRU," Joe replied emphatically. "The guy you should be trying to emulate."

Nuzo smiled, coming over with a firm handshake. "It's an honor, sir. We've heard stories about you. Especially that time in Kandahar…"

"If you're hearing stories, they're probably exaggerated," Aaron said humbly.

Magnum crossed his arms and gave a playful smile. "Oh, so you didn't single-handedly neutralize an entire squad of terrorists?"

Aaron laughed. "I had help."

Joe, never one to pass up a chance to test his men, suggested a little friendly combat. "What do you think, Rollins? Let's see if you still have what it takes."

Aaron glanced at Magnum and Nuzo, who were clearly eager for the challenge. "Come on, but try not to cry when you lose."

The trio braced themselves, with Joe watching as referee. Magnum attacked first, trying to use his height to his advantage, but Aaron was faster, dodging and using his opponent's strength against him. Nuzo, with his agility, tried to surprise Aaron, but was also accurately restrained.

"You've still got it, kid," Joe said proudly, as Magnum and Nuzo stood up, laughing.

"Let's face it, sir," Nuzo said, panting. "You beat the crap out of us."

"That's why you keep training," Aaron replied.

After training, the group gathered for a relaxed moment. Magnum and Nuzo wanted to hear more stories from Aaron's operations, and he, while reserved about details, shared some lessons learned over the years.

"The most important thing is to remember why we're here," Aaron said. "It's not about glory, it's about the guys around you and the people who depend on us."

Joe watched silently, pleased to see that Aaron continued to be the perfect example of a SEAL: professional, humble, and dedicated.

At the end of the day, Aaron said goodbye to Joe, Magnum, and Nuzo.

"It was good to get back to our roots," he told Joe.

"And it was good to see you, kid. Remember, Coronado will always be your home," Joe replied, shaking his hand.

Magnum and Nuzo walked over.

"Hey, mister, next time you're around, let us know. We'll be looking for a rematch," Magnum said, winking.

"Next time, maybe I'll give you guys a chance," Aaron joked before leaving.

As he drove back, Aaron reflected on the day. Coronado represented the beginning of his journey, but it was also a reminder that a SEAL's legacy wasn't just what he did, but the impact he left on others.

Chapter 54: Operation Airstorm

The shrill alarm echoed throughout Dam Neck as Aaron, the seasoned leader of his DEVGRU team, was rushed to the operations room. He didn't need detailed explanations; the frantic pace, the tense faces around him, and the rapid orders indicated that this was something urgent and dangerous.

As he entered the room, the screen showed a commercial airliner, flying on a diverted route. The colonel in charge of the operation began to explain:

"Gentlemen, we have a critical situation. An Atlantic Airlines plane, flight 472, has been hijacked. It took off from London bound for New York, but is now heading to an unidentified airport in the Middle East. The main hijacker, identified as Abu Rahim, is known to lead violent terrorist cells. We have 150 passengers on board, including American citizens."

Aaron exchanged a look with his team. They knew what was at stake.

"Do we have time until landing?" — Aaron asked, quickly taking command.

"We estimate three hours," the colonel replied. "We need an infiltration before the plane touches down. The plan is to use a C-17 to bring you closer to the target, allowing a HALO jump to board the aircraft in the air."

Aaron nodded.

"Any internal resistance?"

"Two undercover CIA agents are on board, but not in direct communication. Intelligence suggests the terrorists are heavily armed and have explosives."

The tension in the room was palpable as Aaron gathered his team to review the mission.

"Bravo 2, you and Bravo 3, take the cockpit. Bravo 4 and Bravo 5, secure control of the cargo hold. Bravo 6 and Bravo 7, take the passenger areas. I'm going to neutralize Abu Rahim."

They equipped their HALO jump suits, reviewed the maps, and communicated frequencies. There was no room for error.

In the C-17, the crew was silent as they adjusted their gear. The sound of the wind in the cargo hold mixed with the pilot's instructions.

"Four minutes to target," a voice announced over the radio.

Aaron gave his team the "gear check" signal. They responded with a thumbs-up.

"Let's do this. Remember: precision, speed, stealth."

The green light came on, and one by one, the operators jumped out, descending into the darkness of the sky. The hijacked plane shimmered like a shadow on the horizon, and each member of DEVGRU adjusted his flight suit to reach the target with precision.

Using magnetic anchors, they attached themselves to the plane's fuselage. Aaron led the group to the emergency exit, where Bravo 6 used specialized tools to cut the entrance with surgical precision. They slid into the cargo hold without alerting the hijackers.

Inside the plane, the muffled sound of the engines made communication difficult. Using hand signals, Aaron instructed Bravo 4 and Bravo 5 to sweep the cargo bay while he and Bravo 2 made their way to the cockpit.

As they advanced, they heard voices in Arabic. Aaron positioned himself at the cockpit entrance while Bravo 3 readied a fiber optic camera to observe the interior. There were four terrorists, one of them holding a detonator.

"We need to neutralize him first," Bravo 2 whispered.

Aaron nodded, signaling for the team to be ready. In a coordinated move, they opened the door with a controlled explosion, using flashbangs to disorient the hijackers. The sound was deafening, followed by screams as the operators rushed in.

Aaron fired his HK416 rifle with precision, taking out two terrorists before they could react. Bravo 2 neutralized the man with the detonator, while Bravo 3 ensured that the pilots were safe.

Meanwhile, Bravo 6 and Bravo 7 advanced down the main corridor. The passengers were terrified, but none appeared to be injured. Two terrorists were guarding the area, but they were quickly neutralized before they could see the team.

"Everyone stay calm, we're US Special Forces," Bravo 6 announced. "We'll get you out of here safely."

The passengers reacted with restrained relief, but they were still tense. Bravo 6 continued to make sure no one was in danger while Aaron made his way to the pilot's compartment.

Aaron found Abu Rahim hiding behind one of the pilots. The terrorist was holding a pistol to the pilot's head, using him as a shield.

"Drop the gun, Abu Rahim," Aaron ordered, his voice firm and authoritative. "There's nowhere to go."

"I die a martyr!" Rahim shouted, tightening his grip on the pilot's gun.

Aaron calculated quickly. He knew that if he hesitated, the pilot would die. With one swift movement, he shot Rahim in the arm, causing him to drop the gun. Bravo 2 went in to secure the arrest while Aaron checked on the pilot.

"Is everything okay?" he asked.

The pale-faced pilot simply nodded.

"It is now."

With the plane secured, the pilot resumed its original route to a friendly airport. Aaron and his team made sure all passengers were safe while they waited to land.

When the plane finally touched down, CIA agents and medical teams were waiting. Aaron oversaw the evacuation of the passengers and handed Abu Rahim over to CIA custody.

Back on the C-17, the team was exhausted but satisfied. Aaron looked at his men and smiled.

"Job well done, gentlemen. Another mission accomplished."

They nodded in response. They knew that tomorrow might bring a new challenge, but for now, they had done their duty with excellence.
