"Christian?"
I blinked, unsure if my eyes were deceiving me.
Henry's face mirrored my surprise and shock, but not my fear.
"Who are you?" Bliss asked frowning slightly. Her eyes narrowed as she looked from Christian to me. "You look so familiar… Have we met before?"
My entire body froze, trembling with disbelief and panic. But her voice grounded me.
Christian's voice was low and dangerous, a simmering threat barely contained. "Why is he here?"
His gaze, which had been pinned on me, was now on Henry.
The tension in the air cracked like glass under pressure.
Henry didn't flinch. He met Christian's glare with an unreadable expression, his jaw tightening, but he said nothing.
"He-he is… uhm." I stammered. My mind scrambled for a lie, anything believable. "He is…"
Words failed me.
Christian turned back to Bliss and said it for me. "I'm Christian Gulf. I'm her husband."
Time stopped.
