"Whose shoes are those?" Bliss asked, eyes narrowed in suspicion.
My eyes darted to the pair of polished oxfords lying by the door, the evidence.
My breath caught.
I was going to lie and say she'd heard wrong, pretend no one was here. But the shoes made it impossible. Christian's shoes were a silent witness, mocking me.
"Uhm… it's a cousin." I said forcing a small smile. "He came to visit since he was in town for some business."
"Oh, cool. Where is he?" She asked, already walking toward my room.
My heart jumped. I ran to her front and blocked her path.
"He's shy." I said quickly, "Doesn't like strangers."
She squinted, her lips slowly curving into a knowing smirk, "Are you hiding your boyfriend?"
"No. Of course not. What boyfriend? Please." The words came out of my mouth in one breath.
She didn't believe me. Her smile grew wider.
"Alora." She dragged my name out dramatically, "Just tell the truth. He's your boyfriend and you're hiding him. I thought we were friends."
