Chapter 68 - The bitter truth

Leah stood by the door, frozen, her face stricken with fear.

My eyes drifted downwards, scanning her body. And then I saw it.

Her breasts were nearly completely exposed beneath the thin fabric of the nightgown. 

My nightgown.

I blinked, rage beginning to pulse in my chest as realization hit.

I hadn't noticed that she was wearing it. I'd been too tired. Too drained to care about anything beyond my own breath.

But now…. Now I was wide awake.

"Really?" I stepped forward. My voice came out sharp, my disbelief etched in it, "This is what I get for trying to help you?"

Rage boiled over and I couldn't control it. My hands clenched at my sides, my chests heaving.

"Alora, I don't know what he told you, but it's not true. Let me explain." She rushed to my side.

The audacity.

It was almost comical. Ludicrous. Maybe that's why a cynical laugh slipped out of my mouth.

"Explain," I said, my voice cold as ice.
