Leah stood by the door, frozen, her face stricken with fear.
My eyes drifted downwards, scanning her body. And then I saw it.
Her breasts were nearly completely exposed beneath the thin fabric of the nightgown.
My nightgown.
I blinked, rage beginning to pulse in my chest as realization hit.
I hadn't noticed that she was wearing it. I'd been too tired. Too drained to care about anything beyond my own breath.
But now…. Now I was wide awake.
"Really?" I stepped forward. My voice came out sharp, my disbelief etched in it, "This is what I get for trying to help you?"
Rage boiled over and I couldn't control it. My hands clenched at my sides, my chests heaving.
"Alora, I don't know what he told you, but it's not true. Let me explain." She rushed to my side.
The audacity.
It was almost comical. Ludicrous. Maybe that's why a cynical laugh slipped out of my mouth.
"Explain," I said, my voice cold as ice.
