Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Insatiable Vase

After being slapped by Feng Qinqin, Cai Xun originally planned to humble himself and appease her, but seeing her current demeanor, his intention to concede evaporated.

For the past while, Cai Xun had been preoccupied with his family's small company, and it was only a few days ago that he felt a moment of relief due to an unexpected collaboration with Gus Group.

A company that had been struggling to survive suddenly turned a significant profit under Gu Qixiao's incidental involvement. In fact, it skyrocketed as more and more partners reached out for collaborations.

Although Cai Xun was well aware that many of these partners were offering small projects and minor benefits mainly because of Gus Group's reputation, for his family's small company, even crumbs were enough to sustain them.

Moreover, Cai Xun clearly understood that these small benefits could pave his way to a complete turnaround. After all, no one knew better than him what exactly drove their profits.

Thinking about how he would soon become the heir of a renowned business empire, the tantrums of this spoiled rich girl Feng Qinqin suddenly seemed beneath his notice.

"Feng Qinqin, take a good look at who I am!"

Even though Cai Xun no longer had the same affection for Feng Qinqin as before, the fact remained that the two families were professionally on par.

In his view, he might as well make use of her while he could.

"Who are you?" A drunken Feng Qinqin gazed at the blurry figure in front of her, unable to recognize him. Cai Xun felt a devious idea stirring within him.

He had been dating Feng Qinqin for some time now, and although Feng Qinqin believed he was unaware of her identity as the heiress of the Feng family...

In truth, Cai Xun had always maintained a careful yet friendly "boyfriend" distance.

Now that he felt he was close to exploiting her fully, he swallowed hard.

Even someone as worldly as Feng Qinqin possessed a unique allure. Had it not been for his ulterior motives in pursuing her initially, Cai Xun would've long indulged in the idea of having fun with her.

Seeing her in this state today, Cai Xun naturally could not resist such a temptation.

After all, as the saying goes, "A man would die willingly at the hands of a beauty…"

Meanwhile, back at the Ji family home, Ji Yu had trouble sleeping the entire night after hearing Gu Qixiao's words. Gu Qixiao's impression of her, on the other hand, worsened even further.

He had always thought of Ji Yu as nothing more than a promiscuous woman, someone who, even after all that had transpired between them post-marriage, could face him with shameless nonchalance.

But when he realized that Ji Yu had actually been able to contact him via his father, Gu Qixiao's impression of her plummeted to new depths.

If someone had asked Gu Qixiao about Ji Yu, his response would have been straightforward: A greedy, vacuous beauty!

Initially, he only planned to complain inwardly, but to his surprise, the next morning, as Gu Qixiao was heading out to the company, Mr. Gu stopped him.

"I hope you'll reconsider matters regarding Yu. I trust her character," Mr. Gu said.

The "Yu" Mr. Gu referred to was, of course, none other than Ji Yu, whom Gu Qixiao had misjudged.

Though their names were nearly identical, the misunderstanding and ensuing consequences went unnoticed by everyone involved.

"I've already dealt with it," Gu Qixiao replied.

Believing everything was settled, Mr. Gu waited for Gu Qixiao to leave before promptly dialing Ji Yu.

Though Gu Qixiao lacked tact when it came to emotions, Mr. Gu had a much better impression of Ji Yu. At this moment, he was eager to bring her into their home immediately.

Ji Yu, who was taking the rare chance to sleep in due to her lack of clients, was startled awake by Mr. Gu's phone call.

Seeing the caller ID, Ji Yu had no choice but to suppress her irritation.

"Hello, Dad," she answered.

"Yu, are you free today?" Mr. Gu asked.

Still groggy, Ji Yu was about to agree, but a glance at the time on her phone snapped her wide awake.

The next morning, when Feng Qinqin woke up in pain all over, she groped for her phone and sent a message to Ji Yu. Ji Yu, meanwhile, who had just been about to confirm her plans with Mr. Gu, immediately changed her mind upon seeing the "SOS" message from Feng Qinqin.

"Dad, my friend has an emergency, so I might not be able to accompany you today," Ji Yu quickly excused herself.

Mr. Gu originally intended to tell Ji Yu in person that Gu Qixiao had taken care of the matter she mentioned. But with this interruption, the call ended abruptly.

After hanging up, Ji Yu unplugged her fully-charged phone, dressed as fast as she could, and after notifying Madam Ji and Mr. Ji, she rushed to Nightcolor, the exclusive club.

On her way there, she gave Feng Qinqin a call to ask about the situation.

"Qinqin, what happened?"

Ji Yu knew her best friend liked to have fun, but she never thought it would go too far.

Not until Feng Qinqin sent that urgent message.

On the other end of the line, Feng Qinqin could only manage muffled sobs. A server, initially intending to remind her about the end of her private room reservation, was startled by her state upon seeing her.

"Lady Feng..."

Not wanting to speak, Feng Qinqin gave the server a fleeting glance and threw her membership card at them before continuing to cry into the phone.

The server, understanding their place, refrained from asking more and quietly left with the card.

Those who worked there were well aware of Feng Qinqin's background. Knowing she was not someone they could afford to offend, they wisely chose not to interfere.

"Qinqin, say something," Ji Yu prodded her friend as patiently as she could while flooring the gas pedal.

Anyone watching would have likely questioned whether the driver of her car had a death wish.

Since the morning rush hour had just passed, Ji Yu managed to reach Nightcolor in no time.

"Qinqin, open the door."

When Ji Yu arrived, she found Feng Qinqin had already locked herself in the private room. Before trying the door, the server reminded Ji Yu and returned Feng Qinqin's VVIP card.

Although she couldn't see what had transpired inside, Ji Yu had faith that Qinqin would come and open the door.

Soon after, a disheveled Feng Qinqin opened the door and pulled Ji Yu inside.

She truly was a wreck.

Feng Qinqin's makeup was smudged beyond recognition; even her clothes looked tattered and messy.

If Ji Yu hadn't known Feng Qinqin for years, she would've doubted the person standing before her was Feng Qinqin.

Before Ji Yu could even ask what had happened, Feng Qinqin broke down and clung to her, wailing uncontrollably.

This was nothing like the poised woman who had leaned on Ji Yu after her divorce.

The two stayed like that for some time, until Feng Qinqin couldn't cry any longer. Only then did Ji Yu finally get the whole story out of her.

Through choking sobs, Feng Qinqin recounted waking up to find herself violated and explained that surveillance footage confirmed Cai Xun was the last to leave.

Moreover, Feng Qinqin revealed every detail of how Gus Group had been targeting the Feng family's business, missing nothing.

Hearing everything, Ji Yu's fury mirrored Feng Qinqin's initial reaction.

She couldn't comprehend why Gus Group would do such a thing.

Feeling a burning rage in her chest, Ji Yu pulled out her phone and dialed the same number Gu Qixiao had called her from yesterday.

Unfortunately, Gu Qixiao didn't even give her a chance to argue. The moment the call connected, it was immediately cut off.

Ji Yu's hand hovered over the phone, ready to call again, but when she saw the message he sent, she froze before lowering her hand completely.

[Apologies, Doctor Ji, but Gus Group does not collaborate with greedy, vacuous beauties.]
