Chapter 3 - Chapter 1

(Third Person POV)

[The Red Keep, King's Landing]

"You'd be wise to ensure that your daughter behaves herself." Daemon said as he walked around the small council table, "I will not have my son be insulted with her shenanigans."

King Viserys leaned back on his chair, "What is that supposed to mean?"

Daemon stopped and looked at him, "You know exactly what I mean." He said seriously, "That girl has gone on and stared at the likes of Breakbones and other young knights when she knows damn sure that she is betrothed to Aerion."

Viserys sighed and looked at Otto who sat next to him, "Can you believe this?" He said, "I summon him to the capital and he comes and makes demands to me, the King."

"Prince Daemon's concerns are not unwarranted, Your Grace." Otto said, "But his demeanor should be changed when speaking to you."

"Oh, fuck off." Daemon said as he rolled his eyes, "You were the one who betrothed her to Aerion, brother. I need you to keep her a maiden."

Viserys looked at Daemon, "My daughter is a woman." He said, "An honorable one, like your boy's mother. Where is Aerion, by the way?"

"Runestone." Daemon said as he looked away

"And you did not care to bring him?" Viserys asked, "Why?"

"I don't intend to stay much longer and I know that if I had brought him, you would force me to stay so you can spend time with him." Daemon said

"Of course I would." Viserys stood up, "He is my only nephew, I wish to see how he has progressed with his Valyrian studies. One day, he will claim a dragon and will continue our House's legacy as a dragonrider."

"I don't disagree with you." Daemon said, "But despite my thoughts on his mother's family, he has the blood of knights in him as well as Dragonriders. Aerion will become a skilled and strong warrior. He does not need to spend his days with his nose to books."

Viserys looked at him, "I suppose there is not much we could agree on." He said, "Listen brother, I called you here because I need you by my side on certain matters. I know that when I disinherited you and made Rhaenyra heir, we had a vicious falling out."

"It is an understatement." Daemon muttered, "The issue in the Stepstones is still ongoing. The Sea Snake can be an annoying cunt, more than this one."

He pointed at Otto who merely stared at him silently, not reacting to his words.

"Well, I betrothed her to Aerion to mend our relationship." Viserys said, "But the thing is.....like Otto said, your concerns are not unwarranted. There are those who wish to have her hand, for ambitious reasons. I do not intend to marry her off to someone who is not a Targaryen and what better choice than the son of my brother? Of course, I have another daughter but it appears my wife, The Queen, has made her own choice and betrothed her to my boy, Aegon."

"Right..." Daemon said, "And you are telling me this why?"

"If the Realm sees that we are in agreement, then they will not protest to this that much." The King said, "The lecherous knights will simply back away."

"The lecherous fucks will not simply back away." Daemon said, "You know damn well that your daughter will eventually have urges. It is your duty as her father and king to keep that from happening. Any scandal will be an insult to my son and myself and I will have to get involved."

"Make no mistake." Otto spoke up, "The Princess is indeed a maiden and she will continue to be one until Lord Aerion is of age and the two marry."

"You best make sure it stays that way." Daemon said, "Because I will do something about it if she tries something."

"Do not do anything rash, I warn you." Viserys said, "I intend for us to keep our amicable relationship, Daemon. We are brothers. I am lenient enough to allow you to ignore your duties as a husband and father but if you decide to overstep without my leave, I will not be lenient no longer."

Daemon scoffed, "Have it as you wish." He said, "I meant what I said."

"Prince Daemon." Otto spoke up, "You mentioned that Lord Aerion will become a skilled warrior, no?"

"That's nice of you, to hear what I said." Daemon said

"Your Grace, would it be better to have the young boy train to become a Knight?" Otto asked

"Well, House Royce is doing exactly that, I hope." Viserys said with a chuckle, "Lady Rhea wrote to me that they will not show him any favoritism because he is a prince, he is getting the usual Royce training."

"Should the young one become a Knight at such a young age, capable of earning such a title, we might be able to marry the two of them right after." Otto stood up

"What are you saying?" Daemon asked

"He will soon be ten." Otto said, "I imagine that in a few more years, say Five....he will be a knight. It is only five more years that the Princess Rhaenyra has to wait to finally live her life as a woman and as the Heir. They will do their duty and continue the line."

Viserys nodded, "I can work with that." He said, "So when he turns ten and five, then....Daemon, do you think he would be a capable and strong knight by then?"

Daemon smacked his lips, "Five years? Give me a break." He said as he turned around and began to walk away, "My son does not need five years to become a Knight."

"He only needs Four."

***********

"I cannot accept this father." Rhaenyra said, "You are denying me any freedom. Aren't I supposed to be your heir???"

Viserys sighed, "My girl...." He said as he patted her shoulder, "I need you to understand, that this is for the sake of the Realm. It was barely acceptable that you were Heir....but if everyone finds out that you start scandal after scandal, insulting your betrothed and his family, what do you think will happen?"

Rhaenyra frowned, "Father...." She started, "He is a boy....a. child....I cannot believe you would do this to me...."

"I am sorry, my dear." Viserys said, "I truly am...."

"If you were, you would not let this happen." Rhaenyra looked away, "I cannot indulge in my own desires, Father? And when the time comes, you wish for me to bed a child? What kind of life is that? I would already be so old....!"

"You are but ten years older than him, my sweet Rhaenyra." Viserys said, "It has only been around 8 years since I have been King, my Father sat the Throne before myself....only for a very short time....but the truth is...I am glad he was able to meet his first two grandchildren....both you and Aerion....that means something to me, Rhaenyra...."

"I suppose so...." Rhaenyra sighed, "I just don't like it."

"Worry not." Viserys said, "I have seen it in a dream....Aerion becomes a Knight but not just any Knight...."

"He becomes the mightiest Knight this world has ever seen."
