She helped Frenrin reach the bed so he could sit down.
Then she started to examine Frenrin's condition. To exaggerate, it seemed as if she were teleporting around him, examining key points of his body.
"Ah, ah... Alright, you've got a dislocated knee, a few bruises, and muscle and tissue damage as well... Hmmm, I'd say that's about it; this is gonna hurt!"
Not a second later, a popping sound was heard as Frenrin's knee was adjusted. "Wh-Att... I'd prefer it if you gave me some time to prepare myself..."
"Heh... but then you'd be all nervous; it's better to just get it over with!" she said with a thumbs up.
Frenrin: "..."
The crass girl scratched her head while looking away.
Frenrin: "Now that I think about it, I don't even know your name."
The free-spoken girl snapped back to the situation, patting her chest with a proud look. "My name is Charlie Khan, son of Xavier Khan."
Frenrin froze, which led him to continue: "Hehehe, I bet you're surprised that a family member of the great Khan Clan is right in front of you; you can't even speak!"
Frenrin: "..."
Charlie: "..."
Frenrin: "..."
Charlie: "..."
Charlie: "Are you gonna say something!?"
Frenrin: "You're a guy...?"
Charlie: "..."
Frenrin: "..."
"I'm literally wearing a male uniform!"
"I assumed you were just a cross-dresser or something... I heard about them from my dad."
Charlie's face turned red from anger.
"Yeah, well, what about you! You—you're all skinny... and pale..." Charlie's expression fell into a small frown after lashing out.
Frenrin, noticing Charlie's sad demeanor, spoke up, "I'm sorry, it's just... I really thought you were a girl."
He dropped his shoulders. "It's alright... I'm sorry that I insulted you."
"It's fine, I know that I'm skinny and pale, but it doesn't really bother me."
"That's not the point. I know you didn't do it intentionally; but even then, I lashed out at you..."
Frenrin smiled. "I don't mind, seriously, just forget about it."
He held his shoulder with a timid look. "But..."
"I'm serious; if you continue feeling bad about it, I'm actually gonna get mad."
"Alright..."
...
Frenrin shifted slightly, feeling his knee, which was popped back in place. "Uh, what now?"
"Oh. Oh! Yeah, okay, let me continue healing you."
The dimwitted boy grabbed a small stool and sat in front of Frenrin, setting his knee on his thighs. "This is gonna tickle."
Shortly after, there was a hot feeling in Frenrin's leg; it was prickly in some areas and ticklish in others. "May I ask what you're doing?"
"I'm using the fire element to increase your blood flow, along with some other things to speed up your healing. It shouldn't take long."
The heat kept increasing, reaching the point where it felt as if Frenrin's knee was burning. But it carefully walked along the line, not crossing the boundary.
Charlie wiped his forehead. "All done! Well, for your knee at least; you can set your leg down now."
"Okay..."
"Honestly, you aren't injured anywhere else to the point where it inhibits you, so just try not to strain the muscles that hurt, and it should be fine."
"Hmm? So does that mean I'm alright now?"
"Yep."
Frenrin stood up rigidly, then bowed to Charlie. "Thank you very much."
Charlie blushed. "It's really nothing! If anything, you helped me gain some experience..."
Frenrin stood up straight. "No, I really owe you; please tell me if you need anything."
Charlie fidgeted with her fingers, staring down. "It's really alright, though..."
"I'm gonna get mad if you don't just agree with me," Frenrin said with a serious face.
"Okie..."
Garmr spoke to Frenrin telepathically: {Ask that nitwit to be your friend.}
Frenrin spoke to the flustered Charlie. "On another note..."
Charlie stared at Frenrin, no longer blushing from a few simple compliments.
Frenrin: "Will you be my friend?"
Charlie: "Can you please be my friend?"
Frenrin: "Ah."
Charlie: "Oop."
Charlie spoke up almost immediately: "Yes! I will be your friend; please let me be your friend..."
Frenrin, a bit confused by her pleading tone, asked, "You know I have the death element, right...?"
"Uh, and why does that matter?"
"Uh... Because people are usually afraid of me?"
"Isn't it just an element?"
"Yeah."
"Why would I care then?"
Frenrin: "Hahaha... yeah, you're completely right."
Charlie snickered as well. "Hehehe."
Frenrin spoke: "Well, I should probably get back to my room and go to sleep."
"Already? It's... oh wow, it is pretty late."
"Huh? How did you know the time?"
Charlie pointed at the clock on the wall. "Do you not know what a clock is?"
"No."
"Uh... well, basically, it's—" Charlie then explained how a clock works.
"Interesting. Well then, I should go back now."
"Wait!"
"...?"
"What's your room number?"
"Huh? I didn't even know there were numbers for rooms."
"How are you going to know which one is yours then?"
Frenrin: "..."
Garmr spoke to Frenrin telepathically: {"Lucky you; I have a good memory. Don't worry about it."}
Charlie snickered. "I could bring you to a faculty staff member to help... if you're willing to get rid of that favor you owe me."
"You want me to get rid of the favor I owe you by doing another favor for me...?"
Charlie struck his chest lightly. "Yep, I don't like anybody owing me anything."
"...Uh, well, anyway, my dog remembers the way back, so... unlucky you?"
"Darn."
"Alright, I'm going now; see you later."
"Buh bye!" Charlie waved to Frenrin as he left.
Garmr and Frenrin spoke on the way back. {So, kid, what did you think of him?}
{I still can't believe he's a guy more than anything... he has long hair, a very feminine face; even his voice is high-pitched...}
{That's just the Khan family; their whole bloodline is filled with feminine men. If rumors are true, then they were "cursed" by Carrot, the God of Furbles; believers would say it's a blessing though.}
{Anyway, besides the whole gender-bent situation, what did you think about him?}
{Hmm... to put it in adjectives, I would say: straightforward, naïve, kind, honest, helpful, innocent, and naïve.}
{You said naïve twice, but anyway, you're correct about his personality. But that's not what I mean. Do you know why I asked you to be friends with him?}
{I assumed it was because having a goody two-shoes as my friend would make me look less intimidating.}
{Half right; the other reason is because you have no friends! Hahaha. But anyway, my point is that almost nobody will be your friend here. Charlie is an incredibly rare exception.}
{Yeah, I think you're right. Even when I put on my best face in front of those observers, they were clearly afraid of me... this might be harder than I thought.}
{Kid, there is not a single tale of a 'kind' death user. You will literally be the first ever—well, at least that I know of.}
Frenrin thought it over in his head until they reached his room.
The two promptly fell asleep, not before Frenrin groaned when he remembered he would have to endure that torture called training again tomorrow.
