Seated in his room, Luan looked outside at the wide river that now surrounded the whole fortress. Mara and Torg had done a great job.
"I don't know when the tides will start, so I'll have to start preparing asap. To not be caught off guard," he muttered to himself while leaving his room.
He quickly went down toward the dining hall, where multiple hundreds of people were currently eating. He had seen it yesterday while the guard was guiding him toward his room.
When he entered the hall, everyone gave him a polite nod and went right back to eating. Their eyes devoid of any hope, they looked like dolls.
Eat, fight, sleep, repeat. That was what they had been doing since their country had fallen. Only the general was able to save a small amount of the population together with his private army.
