Chapter 84 - Chapter 85: Gaining a New Ability

"My strength has almost doubled, kid. Thanks."

Logan swung his fists, his face filled with excitement and gratitude.

Who wouldn't love getting stronger without any side effects?

Kino thought about Logan's aging and the decline of his healing factor. Some believed the Adamantium in his bones was toxic, while others thought genetically modified food might also be responsible.

"Try testing your healing ability. It should have improved as well."

Without hesitation, Logan extended his claws and slashed his own arm.

Clang!

The sound of metal striking metal echoed. Three deep gashes appeared on his arm, revealing the silver Adamantium beneath. Before the blood could even flow, the wounds began to heal.

Within seconds, his skin was restored to its smooth, unblemished state.

"My healing ability has improved too. This used to take more than ten seconds."

Kino mused quietly to himself. In reality, Logan's healing ability was merely restored to its former glory.

Scott opened the small box in front of him, revealing a strengthening serum. Without a second thought, he injected it directly.

"King, what is this?" Jean asked curiously, eyeing a small jar in her own box. It didn't resemble the other serums.

"That's a youth serum. You can use it sparingly, and it will last a long time. I was going to give you the strengthening serum, but considering the side effects, I thought this would be a better gift." Kino explained patiently.

"Side effects? I feel fine." Logan flexed his arm, showcasing his enhanced muscles proudly.

"Ah! What's happening to my body?" A startled cry came from Scott, drawing everyone's attention.

His previously lean frame had become visibly bulkier, stretching his clothes taut. It was as if he'd grown an entire size larger in mere moments.

"That's the side effect. Since Logan was already muscular, it wasn't as noticeable on him." Kino shrugged helplessly.

"Why didn't you mention this earlier?" Scott groaned, feeling a mix of frustration and regret.

"I was going to, but Logan interrupted me," Kino replied, spreading his hands innocently.

Logan clapped Scott on his now-broad shoulder, grinning. "This is an improvement. You looked like a scrawny chicken before."

"Really?" Scott turned his gaze to Jean, hoping she'd appreciate his new physique.

The next moment, his heart shattered.

Jean leaned over and kissed Kino lightly on the cheek. "Thank you. I love your gift."

Logan, seeing Scott's devastated expression, chuckled and said, "Give it up. You can't compete with him."

Scott stood frozen in place, his heart broken into countless pieces. His eyes filled with disappointment and sorrow.

Meanwhile, Charles examined the vial of blue serum in his hands.

"A limb regeneration serum?" he asked.

"That's right. Your legs are still there. The reason you're in a wheelchair is likely due to nerve damage. This serum is perfect for you," Kino said while wiping Jean's lipstick mark from his cheek.

"Thank you, Kino," Charles said softly, his voice tinged with emotion. His eyes glistened as he fought back tears.

"No need to thank me. Let me administer it for you," Kino offered. He picked up the serum, flicked the needle to check for air bubbles, and injected it into Charles's neck.

No one objected. Once they had accepted Kino as the King of Mutants, their trust in him was absolute.

Charles closed his eyes, focusing on the sensation. Gradually, a warm, tingling feeling spread through his legs.

It had been years since he had felt anything in his lower limbs. The long-lost sensation made his heart race and his breath quicken.

As the numbness faded, Charles slowly opened his eyes and tentatively stretched one leg, planting his foot firmly on the ground. He could move.

His hands trembled slightly as he gripped the sides of his wheelchair. Tears of joy welled up in his eyes, and his lips quivered with overwhelming emotion.

With determination, he pushed himself up, leaning on a nearby table for support. His first steps were shaky, but he refused any assistance.

After a few moments, his strides grew more confident and stable. A radiant smile spread across his face—the expression of a man reborn.

Jean and the others watched with tears of happiness in their eyes. To them, Charles was more than a leader; he was family. Seeing him walk again filled their hearts with joy and relief.

"Charles, since you won't need this wheelchair anymore, can I have it?" Kino's playful voice broke the emotional silence.

Somehow, he'd already taken a seat in the advanced wheelchair, moving it forward and backward with childlike enthusiasm.

The group suddenly remembered: despite his overwhelming power and authority, Kino was still just a young man.

Feeling a pang of guilt, Jean silently blamed herself for placing such a heavy burden on Kino's shoulders.

Charles chuckled warmly. "Of course. You've given me something far better."

"Woohoo! Time to take this for a spin!" Kino cheered, maneuvering the wheelchair out of the room with a playful gleam in his eyes.

"Let's follow him," Charles suggested, his voice filled with lightheartedness as he stepped through the door. The others followed closely behind.

Once the room was empty, a figure slipped through the window with cat-like agility. It was the female reporter who had been asking questions earlier.

She moved silently, her footsteps barely making a sound. Spotting an unopened box, she quickly opened it.

Inside were two bottles of green serum and a folded note.

"Healing serum," she murmured, reading the label.

Unfolding the note, she found a message that made her chuckle softly: "Tell Magneto to read more about architecture. I have a billion-dollar project waiting for him."

"Magneto, huh? What a curious nickname," she whispered with a smirk.

Disguising herself as one of the maids she'd seen earlier, she grabbed the box and swiftly exited the room, never noticing the faint ripple in her shadow.

Meanwhile, outside on the plaza, Kino was joyfully zooming around in the wheelchair. He glanced at the holographic display showing Charles's restored physical status and smiled.

"Strength, speed, and mind... I have no weaknesses now. This has been a productive day."

Venom emerged, plopping onto Kino's lap.

"So, why didn't you copy Jean's Phoenix Force? It's way stronger," Venom asked curiously.

Kino lazily stretched under the warm sunlight, replying, "The Phoenix Force is an energy entity; it merely resides within Jean. We probably can't copy it, and any attempt might alert her and make Charles's group suspicious. It's not worth the risk."

"Fair enough. Anyway, that girl will join your harem eventually, and then the Phoenix Force will be ours to play with," Venom snickered.

"The future is unpredictable. For now, strengthening and consolidating our existing power is the most important thing," Kino replied calmly, his eyes gleaming with quiet resolve.

"True strength comes not just from power, but from knowing when to use it."
