Chapter 66 - Burial

Kael stayed behind to guard the transport while Elysia ran to fetch the others, who had apparently given up on their search for him. 

It would be another hour, at least. 

Might as well start preparing the bodies. I killed them. I'll bury them. 

He wondered if these people even deserved to be buried. But he didn't wish to honor them. Only hide them so they could never be found. 

He hopped into the open door of the front cart, and was once again confronted with what he'd just done. 

Still, it wasn't as bad as before. Maybe Elysia had been right? Even if she wasn't, he still wanted to believe what she'd said. 

Kael moved from body to body, dragging the first Official by the arms down the slope beside the track. 

One by one, he removed their bloody uniforms, until a row of nearly twenty naked bodies lay before him. 

Their skin had already gone pale, and some wore massive bruises. The spiny growths that Kreel had shown Kael also grew on these people from head to toe.
