"This ability... it's perfect."

Staring at the system description, Alex Carter couldn't help but lick the corner of his mouth with satisfaction.

With his enhanced combat abilities — including the [Electronic Shield], [Armor], and various physical boosts provided by the Blacklight Virus — Alex's power was already nearing legendary status.

Frankly speaking, in this chaotic cyberpunk world, there were few individuals who could match him in raw combat power.

To be blunt, Alex didn't urgently need another combat boost at this point.

But this new ability?

[Unconventional Maneuvers] — the ability to perform wall runs, glide, double jump, mid-air dash, and charging leaps — was something he'd been craving.

Who wouldn't want to be that badass darting between skyscrapers like a human bullet?

Just as Alex was grinning to himself, a harsh alarm suddenly blared in his mind.

At the same time, Shockwave's voice rang urgently in his ear.

"Master! The villa has been locked by a long-range fire control radar!"

"Two unidentified airborne objects are approaching rapidly from 10 kilometers away!"

"Damn it!"

Alex's face twisted with fury as he bolted upstairs.

The only thought in his mind was simple:

"I can survive this... but V can't!"

"BANG!"

With a powerful kick, Alex smashed the door open.

"Ah! What are you doing!?"

Liana Forrest, mid-change and about to shower, screamed in shock. She hurriedly pulled her bear pajamas back on.

Meanwhile, V, who had been watching TV in the room, looked up in confusion.

"What's going on?" V asked, noticing the tense look on Alex's face.

But Alex had no time to explain.

He grabbed V with one arm, tucked Liana under the other, kicked open the window, and jumped out.

"Ahh! What the hell are you doing, you lunatic!?" Liana shrieked, flailing in his grasp.

"Shut up!" Alex barked.

After landing, he dashed toward the fence with both of them still in his arms and vaulted over it.

Tears of frustration welled in Liana's eyes as she gasped for breath.

But before she could voice her anger, the reason for Alex's sudden reaction became terrifyingly clear.

"BOOOOM!!"

The earth-shaking explosion ripped through the night.

V and Liana froze in horror as flames engulfed what had once been their home.

The fiery shockwave obliterated the villa, sending debris flying in all directions.

Had Alex hesitated even a few seconds longer...

We'd be dead.

Alex stared grimly at the blazing wreckage. His dark eyes gleamed with a dangerous, blood-red glow — a murderous intent boiling inside him.

Someone just tried to kill me... and V.

"Lin... our home..." V's voice trembled as she stared at the smoldering ruins.

The villa — worth tens of millions — along with their massive stockpile of weapons, ammunition, and gear...

All gone.

Alex clenched his fists, suppressing his fury.

He ran his fingers gently through V's hair and whispered,

"It's alright... we can buy a new place. As long as we're alive, nothing else matters."

"Hmph! Scumbag... who's 'we'?" Liana muttered bitterly.

But even she knew the truth.

Alex could have easily saved himself and left her behind — but he didn't.

"Don't get the wrong idea," Alex said coldly. "I saved you because I didn't want your mom breathing down my neck."

Liana's face flushed red with anger.

"Hmph! Big scumbag... who even asked you to save me?!"

Despite her defiance, a flicker of gratitude flashed in her eyes.

"You better hope this wasn't Kang Tao's doing," Alex warned, his voice icy.

"Otherwise... they're finished."

The cold, murderous tone made Liana's defiance falter.

She had never seen Alex like this before — no teasing grin, no smug remarks.

Just cold, ruthless intent.

For a brief moment, she felt genuine fear.

"Lin... Kang Tao wouldn't... we wouldn't..."

"Wouldn't what?" Alex snapped. "They put you in my house just to spy on me. You think I'm supposed to just trust them now?"

Alex's rage was boiling over — and Liana was the first to feel the heat.

"Shockwave!"

The Rayfield Holy Sword, now transformed by Shockwave, burst through the smoldering wreckage and landed beside Alex, hatch open.

"V, get in. Shockwave, protect her... and keep Liana locked down until I get back."

"Understood, Master!"

The cockpit sealed shut, and the floating car sped off toward the city.

Meanwhile, Alex turned back to face two airborne vehicles rapidly approaching from the sky.

In his hands, he gripped his trusty "Sleeper" and his new blade, "Claw Grinder."

His gaze narrowed as he stared down the incoming attackers.

"Time to die."

In the Attacking Vehicles...

"Team A has visual on the target! Another vehicle has escaped!"

"Team B, pursuing the fleeing car. ETA to interception: 1 minute, 40 seconds."

Inside the lead vehicle, over a dozen armed men outfitted in Kang Tao gear readied their weapons.

"A-2, prepare to engage!"

With that order, the vehicle's hatch opened and armed soldiers poured out.

The large Kang Tao logos on their armor made their allegiance obvious.

Seeing this, Alex's grin turned cold and vicious.

"So it was Kang Tao..."

"BOOM!"

Gunfire erupted as Alex sprinted forward, blades flashing.

The Blacklight Virus surged through him, armor spreading across his body like living steel.

Screams filled the air as Alex tore through the soldiers like a demon in the night.

"He's a monster! Bullets won't pierce his armor!"

"Sniper! We need a sniper!"

"Fall back! FALL BACK!"

But there was no escape.

Steel glinted, blood sprayed, and bodies crumpled as Alex carved his way through them in less than 30 seconds.

On the second airborne vehicle, the remaining soldiers stared in disbelief.

"I... I thought they said he was strong... but this is insane!"

"Bring out the rocket launchers!" the squad leader barked.

Moments later, two missiles locked onto Alex's position and launched.

"WHOOSH!"

The resulting explosion engulfed the area in flames.

The soldiers on the second craft exhaled in relief.

"Target down... let's move in for confirma—"

"Wait... something's wrong!" the pilot shouted.

He pointed to the scanner — a red dot still blinking on the screen.

"It's... it's still moving!"

Suddenly, a black-red figure erupted from the firestorm, leaping high into the sky — blades gleaming and eyes glowing crimson.

"Holy... SHIT!"
