Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: The strongest pt.1

***

After Benedict's interrogation went successful the sky division set out towards the city. The heavy marches and steps of the members being emitted throughout streets, the sound of people screaming in arrests and some even getting executed on the spot.

Far as we know every involved person of the Order will be handled by in the marine's way even if they don't like it. For approximately 2 days the sky division was on the hunt for the involved people, in the meantime me and a few selected guys chosen by Benedict headed out to the base.

I'll explain it as simple as possible. There is an 'Order' a huge criminal organization that resides somewhere in the sea of Endeia. The group have hundreds and more members who are split into smaller groups that take on different tasks. The captured man is part of the 'Libic' group, a group that exists solely on buying humans and selling them to brothels or slavery.

"This place is fucking dark? can someone light a lantern or something?" The voice of a member said. Arriving at the 'Libic's' hideout which was well hidden behind a fishing store around the corner. The stairs led to almost darkness and it wasn't until another guy lit up a lantern which he had equipped on his waist.

Within the room there was a huge table in the middle, stacked with papers and seemingly documents. But that wasn't what everyone noticed first, there was a stench of something horrible and the sky-division was familiar with the smell.

"...Look, Its a decaying body"

The man raised his lantern towards the body laying flat out. There were old blood running down through the gaps of the floor and maggots were already starting to feast on the body.

The man who held the lantern, a man who had a battle hardened look, fur around his collar and had a rather youthful face to him, seemingly a few years older than Solan. He's name was 'Henrich' from what Solan could remember and he was also a valuable member of the sky division wielding a Leviathan slayer.

Henrich had inspected the body closer, noticing the bullet hole in his head and the flintlock in the hand. "Suicide... He must've ended his life about two days ago".

"That was around the time; the hunt for criminals began... He must've known that we captured his friend, he must've ended his life knowing we'd come here eventually". Solan spoke looking at the dead body with slight frown.

Shortly after looking through the room we found several foreign documents that answered questions I already had stuck in mind.

The vessel user I fought against was only a hire. shockingly he wasn't part of the 'order'. He was paid a huge sum of dol. Aligning the documents together he was hired a few days before our arrival meaning the order knew of the marine's arrival and hired an assassin to fight off in case we crossed path's with them(which we did).

And so, after the cleansing the entire city — almost 1/10th of the city population were executed or arrested. Some had sold their children, siblings... even parents. Others had been going around finding people who willingly wanted to sell their own family members. All I can say, everyone involved have been killed or arrested depending on their crimes.

"P-Please don't shoot me! I-I was forced into this!"

I stood by the sidelines on the street. A long line of involved locals rested on their knees with bindings above their eyes and hand's clutched together — some praying. The sky members stood firmly in a close distant, their rifles aimed towards each and one person. Those watching seemed to gasp at the sight — Seeing neighbors, friends, or family undergoing execution.

Some of the soon to be dead people were either crying, talking to themselves or begging for mercy. Benedict stood right beside me, his face stoic and void of any emotions. With his hand raised into the air he lowered it.

"Bang!".

The sound of several bullets firing could be heard echoing throughout the streets.

The criminals dropped down onto the wooden platform signifying their death.

It was understandable why the admiral was doing an public execution. He was showing everyone fear, he was scaring the huge crowd's of people watching. It was a message... A message to the order who was most likely to be amongst the crowd in the current moment.

"The people who died today are all criminal's involved with the order! this happens to anyone who is connected or related to them in any type of way. Let this be a message that the marines aren't merciful to those who use power for evil and injustice". Benedict spoke loudly and clear for everyone to hear.

'the marines are evil!'

'Komod's being discriminated against the marines"

The rumors and stories that reached other island or cities became apparent across the seas of Endeia. That the marine fulfilled a mass execution in Komod city due to a investigation of the 'Order' that revealed that 1/10th were involved. It's controversy about the executions had caused several debates among the people, and even though they had their differences in opinion they all agreed on one common thing.

The marines have become uncontrollable.

[Soldat: The main palace of the headquarters]

Within the grand room of the headquarters beautiful interior of luxury was visible. A huge golden chandelier present hanging firmly from the ceiling which then again had old galleries of man and leviathans.

The sound of soothing and calm music played through the grand hall. People were dressed in formal ways, women who had came to look the most gorgeous wanting to attract the men. And then there was the men who wore fitting formal attires that displayed their wealth, tatus or even profession. It was the grand-fest. A social party held some days after the grand tournament finished. A night hosted by the grandmaster for people to indulge in the food, drinks and entertainment displayed across the hallway.

"There are too many people here grandmaster, did you just invite anyone that came in mind?" On one of the tables located higher up in the palace room sat admiral Sarah, wearing a leisure white military dress that complimented her physical form and her black hair tied up in a bun.

Sarah had been slightly uncomfortable with the amount of people that were attending the grand-fest this time. She never liked being around many people in the first place, especially wearing a dress she thought as uncomfortable.

"Why complain Sarah? we're here now aren't we? and it looks good on you, I picked it personally for you". Beside Sarah was the grandmaster herself seated. Her face leaned into her hand rested on the table Infront of her, her eyes darting to the many wealthy and successful figures in sight.

"Oh Please grandmaster, I'm a grown woman... I could've picked my own clothes". Sarah replied, her eyes rolling back and her arm crossed almost annoyed.

"You could but you didn't which is why I picked out for you, You need to stop hide your body you know... Your beautiful after all Sarah, use your looks to find a husband soon". Lumine remarked, her eyes gazed at Sarah's body up and down with a smile that was after a reaction.

"...My love life isn't of your concern... I'll find myself a husband when I want too". Sarah replied shrugging. Unlike the other nobles Sarah was more free(in the general sense), she could do whatever she'd like until she would have to settle down.

There were many nobles who would be engaged at at young age, not marrying — but having contracts between two wealthy families that want to secure their generational future. It was something that happened often in high society such as Daimon and Terestar[1].

Event's such as this was just the perfect place to find a husband as most of the men and women here came from wealthy families in Daimon or other cities. A social party to make connections in other words.

"How do you like the party Darren?" Old man Cain approached Darren's side who stood leaned into the wall — not wanting to catch attention due to the fact he was the star of the room.

"It's fine... The alcohol here must be expensive..". Darren said, swirling the glass he had in hand seeing as the red wine created an minor tornado within.

"The Grandmaster always throws parties like this after the grand tournament... Though I must say in all of the ones I've attended this is the most lively one...". Cain said knowing why.

"All of these people came to see your match you know, while your at it you should find people to speak with... maybe a wife while your at it?" Cain spoke with a slight smirk, his elbow hitting Darren not once but twice.

Darren rolled back his eyes before shrugging his grandfather off, not very amused by the ideas. "No noble woman like's a anax hunter and you know that, they see us as brutes and savages, no way in hell that will happen".

"Who say's noble women don't like brutes and savages?" Cain told, seemingly confused and frustrated with Darren's remark.

"Whatever... where's the others?". Darren asked curious, not sure as to why the other members of the sentinels wasn't present.

"Did you forget that the invite we got was a private one, due to the fact you won the entire thing we were personally invited... The others are probably by a tavern or something celebrating you". Cain said.

Darren chuckled to himself, he could imagine the others celebrating him. He wouldn't be too shocked either if he returned to the ship only to see everyone wasted and fucked.

"Well well well, Look who we have here". A familiar voice spoke up appearing from amongst the crowd.

It was the 'anax' captains, Einar, Desmond and Helena. All three were dressed nicely to this event which was rather shocking knowing the three of them were always in their captain uniform.

"If it ain't the familiar faces of those I beat". Darren said.

"Huh? C'mon? no need for the cold talk, we're here to enjoy ourselves are we not? anyways congratulations on your victory Darren of the Sentinels" Einar said. He had a wide smile on his face which hinted no threat or hostility even when Darren had beaten him previously in the tournament.

"Thanks, I guess I have to thank you for letting me go through the finals". Darren replied.

"Attention everyone!" the voice of the announcer who stood by the exit of the palace room had spoken loudly. Everyone's had turned their head in confusion and curiosity.

Darren raised an eyebrow, confused. "Hm? what's with that guy? there's no need for him to introduce someone-". Before he could end his sentence the sudden surge of electricity jolted through his body.

"W-What the?" Goose pumps started to appear on his skin. Turning to look at his grandfather Cain he seemed shocked too, no... almost terrified. The feeling he felt... it was dangerous.

The three anax captains seemed overly caution, their faces were on guard as they stood serious.

"This feeling... There's no way he's here too".

"What? who is?" Darren asked confused.

As the marine guards who were posted by the doors opened the huge doors the announcer shouted once again.

"Make way for 1st Admiral Maestro Sushiki!"
