---------------------------------

In the end, Liam successfully captured the little glutton—a cute Squirtle.

Of course, the first time Liam tapped Squirtle's shell and tried to catch it with a PokeBall, the PokeBall shook a few times before Squirtle broke free.

It made sense—Liam hadn't battled it at all, so Squirtle still had plenty of stamina. Capturing it outright was bound to be difficult.

But instead of running away after escaping the PokeBall or retreating into its shell, the adorable Squirtle pointed a stubby little finger at Liam's nose and let out an angry string of Squirtle, Squirtle!

Clearly, it was upset that Liam had interrupted its meal.

Liam was speechless. He thought for a moment, then quickly exchanged a can of top-tier Water-type Pokémon food from his system and gently placed it in front of Squirtle.

The little Pokémon, which had been puffing up in anger, immediately calmed down. It sniffed the air, then happily pounced on the food, eating with a blissful expression.

Liam watched as Squirtle quickly devoured the entire can of food. Then, with a long, satisfied burp, it retracted its head, limbs, and tail into its shell and fell fast asleep.

Seeing this, Liam felt a headache coming on. He sighed, took out another PokeBall, and tapped it against Squirtle's shell again. This time, without any resistance, Squirtle was successfully captured.

Liam stared at the PokeBall in disbelief. Then, thinking of his ever-hungry Dratini, he couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu. Both of them were total foodies... They had both been lured in by food and caught without a fight.

Even Arbok loved Moomoo Milk. What was he supposed to do? All his Pokémon were gluttons—it was downright tragic.

But regardless, Liam had captured an incredibly rare Squirtle. Only then did he remember that near Cinnabar Island, there was an Island that was home to many wild Squirtle and Wartortle, and even a Blastoise.

The Squirtle he had just caught was probably one of them, wandering far from home in search of food, only to be won over by a good meal.

...…..

Liam was very satisfied with Squirtle's stats. As expected of one of the three starters, its attributes were exceptional. This was likely one of the reasons it was chosen as a Kanto starter.

Right now, Squirtle was still in its base form, and it probably wouldn't evolve anytime soon. It had already learned quite a few moves—enough to meet the usual evolution criteria—but for some reason, it hadn't evolved yet.

Liam wasn't going to force it. Evolution was something he left up to his Pokémon. Besides, he didn't lack strong teammates at the moment—he had only captured Squirtle because of its rarity.

And, well... it was still really cute. Wartortle was acceptable, but once it evolved into Blastoise, 'cute' would no longer be the right word—it would be majestic.

So whether Squirtle evolved or not didn't really matter to Liam. He'd just let it be.

Liam continued his journey across the ocean for five days, traveling leisurely. He would stop to rest whenever he was tired, then continue onward.

Nidoking was exhausted by the end, but luckily, Liam had plenty of nutritious Moomoo Milk to keep it going, making the trip a mix of pain and joy for him.

During this time, Squirtle also fell deeply in love with Moomoo Milk. Every time Liam took out a bottle to reward Nidoking, Squirtle would jump out on its own, blinking its big, watery eyes and staring at him expectantly.

In the end, Liam always had to take out an extra bottle. Squirtle would then gleefully hug it and bounce around happily.

But then Arbok would slither out too, looking pitiful—like a little girl who had been left out. Liam had no choice but to give it a bottle as well.

Eventually, he just started redeeming three bottles at a time to save himself the trouble.

Though he went through quite a bit of Moomoo Milk, there were clear benefits. Just look at Squirtle, now completely glued to him—it was obvious how powerful Moomoo Milk's charm was.

Finally, after a long voyage, Liam reached the shores of Pallet Town on the morning of the fifth day.

"Ah! Isn't this the little river in the forest? So the water route connects here? I never noticed before! Haha, this is perfect—Professor Oak's house is nearby. I can head home quickly! Squirtle, we're almost there! I'll make plenty of delicious food for you!"

Liam recalled Nidoking into its PokeBall, took a deep breath of the familiar air, and patted Squirtle on the shoulder.

"Squirtle! Squirtle, Squirtle!"

Hearing the word 'food,' Squirtle immediately perked up and started patting Liam's head with its little hands, clearly urging him to hurry up.

"Alright, alright! No rushing—we're heading out now! Woohoo! Time to go home!"

Excited, Liam ran toward Professor Oak's house.

Along the way, the townspeople of Pallet Town were surprised to see him dashing past but quickly recognized him, greeting him with warm smiles.

"Oh my, isn't that little Liam? I heard you went on a journey. It's been so long since we last saw you! We've missed you dearly!" an elderly woman called out to him with a smile.

"Hehe, I've missed you all too! My journey's taking a break for now, so I came right back!"

Liam slowed down, grinning as he spoke to the old lady.

"Haha, it's good you came back early! Let me tell you, if you stayed away any longer, I was going to let my brat go after Delia! If he manages to win her over, what will you do then?"

The old woman chuckled, teasing him.

"Hah! Like I'd be worried! Your son isn't Delia's type! Haha, gotta go—time to see Delia! Talk later, Grandma!"

Laughing, Liam bolted away. Behind him, the old woman shook her head and chuckled, shouting after him, but he was already too far away to hear.

With excitement written all over his face, Liam finally reached Professor Oak's house. He pushed open the familiar gate, walked up to the front door, and steadied himself before pressing the doorbell.

Ding-dong...

"Who is it? One moment, I'm coming!"

A voice he had missed so much rang out from inside. Footsteps approached, and soon, the door opened, revealing the person he had been longing to see.

"I'm home."

"... Waaaah!!"

Liam smiled warmly at Delia, who had answered the door.

For a second, she was stunned. Then, tears welled up in her big eyes, and in the next instant, she threw herself into his arms.

"W-Welcome home!!"
