Chapter 12 - Chapter 10: Script Changes

Duan Gujin originally planned to return to the Duan Family and ask Mu Feiyan for some Gold Coins to purchase Spiritual Medicine, but he changed his mind, feeling that it was unnecessary to trouble his mother again.

"This kind of small matter should be something I handle myself!"

He knew his mother Mu Feiyan had borne many criticisms from the Duan Family for his sake, and although he could ask his mother to purchase Spiritual Medicine for him, he was reluctant to inconvenience her.

Since he did not wish to trouble his mother, he needed to find a way to make money on his own.

Moreover, Duan Gujin also thought that in the future, he would need to spend a lot on Spiritual Medicine, and he couldn't always rely on his mother for the funds to purchase it.

The amount of Spiritual Medicine he would need in the future was enormous, and he feared his mother could only help him temporarily.

"I need to figure out a way to solve this problem myself!"

Thus, he fell into deep thought.

After a while, his eyes suddenly lit up.

"Although I currently don't have enough money to buy Spiritual Medicine suitable for my Cultivation, I could buy some Basic Spiritual Medicine, refine it into Basic Elixirs, and then sell those. By buying low and selling high, I could indeed make some money!"

Duan Gujin took a deep breath. Before he made a name for himself, he had used this method to earn quite a bit of Cultivation Resources.

Although this method could make some money, there weren't many cultivators who did it like Duan Gujin.

First, the cultivator must have sufficient Alchemy Skills.

Alchemy is highly technical, and without professional knowledge and skills in Alchemy, it's definitely difficult for any cultivator to refine Elixir Pills.

Moreover, apart from having professional Alchemy knowledge, a cultivator who truly wishes to refine elixir must also possess things like talent, specialized training, and alchemy resources.

Second, the cultivator must be enduring.

Refining elixir requires a great deal of Spiritual Power.

And the strength of one's Spiritual Power is related to whether a cultivator can become a genuine Alchemist.

A cultivator who wants to refine Elixir Pills must possess not only hard work and talent but also undergo very arduous Cultivation.

Cultivation and the path of Alchemy can only be accumulated step by step, with no shortcuts to take.

With another thought, Duan Gujin knew what he had to do next.

"It seems I need to refine some Basic Elixirs!"

Frowning in concentration, it wasn't long before he knew what Elixir Pills he would refine next.

"If later I actually manage to refine some Basic Elixirs, I also need to find a way to sell them!"

Just as he was considering his options, suddenly, he heard fierce fighting sounds coming from ahead without any warning.

The next moment, he saw fire soar into the sky from a mansion in front.

Witnessing this scene, Duan Gujin's eyes widened as his gaze flickered.

"I remember now, a grand official's family was exterminated right here. It was done in broad daylight, which at the time, caused panic throughout the entire city! Could it be that the day the official's family was wiped out is today?"

Duan Gujin's mind raced as he recalled the timeline.

Moments later, he recalled that at the time he had been playing within the Duan Family compound, without ever having left the Duan Family's premises. Therefore, regarding what exactly happened that day, he only had hearsay to rely on.

"This means that any action I take now may very well trigger some changes in the future!"

Previously, Duan Gujin had considered that his return could potentially change the future, making the past he had experienced completely unrecognizable.

However, at that time, he merely entertained the notion without pondering over the extent of the changes it might bring about.

Now, as Duan Gujin personally arrived at the residence of the official whose family had been massacred, he realized that he truly could change certain aspects of the past.

Duan Gujin took a deep breath, then with a flash, he dashed forward, eager to see if he could ascertain which group was responsible for the annihilation of the official's family.

The closer he got to the official's residence, the more Duan Gujin could hear the clanging and clashing of sounds within.

He pricked up his ears, listened for a moment, and then affirmed that what he heard was the sound of weapons engaging.

Unable to determine the strength of the force that had destroyed the official's family, he could only cautiously approach and see if he could identify the daring entity responsible for their demise within the city.

Soon, he saw a group of people wearing black garments with black veils covering their faces, each riding a spirited horse. They shouted loudly, then spurred their horses forward and galloped away into the distance.

The veiled bandits rode their horses at such a fast pace that they quickly disappeared from Duan Gujin's sight.

When he saw the wolf's head banner hanging from the leading horse, Duan Gujin's complexion changed dramatically.

He recognized that banner; it was the same one that the bandits who had slaughtered the Duan Family had carried.

"My God! That banditry actually appeared here before! And so close to the Duan Family!"

Duan Gujin's eyes flickered with realization, recalling many details that he had overlooked in the past.

"Blinded by revenge, and with the mastermind's clever tactics, even though I conducted a Soul Search on all the bandits back then, I still couldn't find the instigator behind the scenes! This regret must be addressed in this lifetime. I must uncover the truth!"

Duan Gujin exhaled a breath clouded with turbidity, his eyes flickered once more, and then he proceeded to investigate the residence of the official.

When he arrived near the official's residence, he extended his Divine Sense outward, carefully probing the situation.

Soon, he saw bodies strewn across the floors within the official's house, the blood on them not yet dried, with no signs of life left in any of the corpses.

"Indeed, this family of the official has been utterly annihilated!"

This scene before him reminded Duan Gujin of the Duan Family's ordeal.

The bandits had come quickly and left just as swiftly. Unless his Cultivation had reached a very high realm, if he had encountered that group of bandits just now, his fate would have been nothing more than to be silenced by them.

Duan Gujin pondered for a while, a chill running through his heart.

"If I cannot boost my Cultivation in time, the Duan Family's fate will be just like that of the official's just now, ending with the entire family being wiped out! If I really do increase my Cultivation, it's very possible that the mastermind will send other bandits to exterminate the Duan Family! Or they may just barge into the city and slaughter as before, or the mastermind might change their approach, utilizing poison or other means to wipe out the Duan Family! These possibilities cannot be ignored. I must find that mastermind!"

After pondering for a while, Duan Gujin felt the future world would not play out according to the previous script.

"The development of the future world not following everything that has happened before is also very possible!"

Duan Gujin took a deep breath, contemplating a great deal.

Before, he may not have fully grasped what rebirth truly meant for him, but after this experience, he had an epiphany.
